You can't wait for value when it comes to drafting a QB. They almost always go earlier then they should. However, picking Mahomes at 10 is a huge reach. I happen to agree with Gunnerbill's analysis. I wouldn't be against trading back picking up a pick and trying to get him in the second or third round. I have no doubt he is going to be overhyped and probably taken too soon. Question is will it be Buffalo.

Sure the team has talent. However, I don't believe this team scares anyone. I would venture to say when the schedule comes out opposing teams more often than not will circle in a win for their team. This team doesn't scare anyone because they aren't that good. Various reasons for that. Poor coaching, lack of cohesiveness, poor game planning and adjustments, no franchise QB, lack of WR talent, weak safeties, average LB, lack of pass rush, always have injuries and lack of depth, etc...You get the picture. Hate to be a downer but some people here amaze me with their assessment of this team. I beg to differ with you BADAL. I'll take Tampa Bay team over Buffalo's roster in a heart beat.

Talented teams make the playoffs and the Bills haven't for 17 years and counting. Keep making excuses and deny reality. It is what it is. An inferior product that we still buy into because we love our Bills.

I don't think the Pats are worried about hurting the Bills. I think they know the organization is 2nd rate. OBD does enough to hurt our chances of ever competing with the Pats.

What ever happened to letting the QB sit and develop for a few years? Guess they make too much money for that to happen. Should more teams go back to doing this. We might see more successful long term QB's? I know there are plenty of variables in play. Just thought it might be a good discussion.

I don't think Goff will ever be a franchise QB. Wentz has potential but not likely as well. I am not high on Mahomes or Trubisky. They are worth a shot if taken in third round. However, we all know they will be long gone. IMHO, they are not first round material.

This team has an abundance of holes. As seen by the variety of opinions here. The obvious answer to me is QB. Without a top tier QB, is it extremely difficult to win a super bowl. Exception is an outrageous defense like the Broncos two year ago. Our defense is not even close to that now or in the foreseeable future. Hands down a QB but that's easier said then done. OBD doesn't exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to finding and or developing a QB. Refer to EJ, Fitz, Trent Edwards, JP, Rob Johnson, ...

IMHO, Wentz and Goff were classic examples of teams reaching for a QB. I don't believe they should have went 1 and 2. This year teams will reach again for the likes of Kizer, Watson, Trubisky, and Mahomes. Question is will it be the Bills? Hope they learned from the EJ debacle. Go get Brain Hoyer or Grapalo...

IMHO, he is worth a first round pick. I would trade our first round pick for him in a minute. I know my opinion is in the minority. However, look at the college prospects vs. Garapolo, Garapolo is hands down a better opportunity to be successful. Who knows what next years QB draft will look like? I like what I saw In Garapolo. Granted it wasn't much and it was under the NE system. Don't beat me up too bad.

I dislike the Patriots as much as anyone. I'm not happy with what happened. However, I refuse to let myself get angry. I'd say I'm more disappointed than angry. As a football fan, it is really difficult not to give the whole Patriot organization its props. Brady is a GOAT and without a doubt the best QB I have ever seen. Belicheck is an amazing coach and no one is even close to him. The Falcons blew it but the Patriots still had to deliver and finish. Was there any doubt Brady would lead his team to the game trying TD. Answer is no...I don't hate the Patriots players. It's the Patriot fans I have a hard time with. Nevertheless, we are witnessing a dynasty with one of the all time great QB and coach. I feel incredibly envious...

He is amazing to watch. He has it all but his will to win is what sets him apart from the other greats. No doubt in my mind he wasn't going to score with 3 minutes to go. My only hope was they we going to miss 2 point conversation. The game was over when they won the coin flip.

Well said. Sometimes you just have to appreciate greatness. I will sleep like a baby. No doubt, the Falcons really blew it. Three runs after that catch was the no brainer. Pats would have used all their timeouts and been down 11 with around 3 minutes to go. I would like their chances from there. Pats would have needed to recover onside kick to win or tie. I couldn't believe the play calling...Utter incompetence if you ask me. You have to blame the coach at this point. He should have demanded three runs.

I didn't know the salary savings. If the opportunity exists, I would upgrade to Alex Smith and save 10 mil or so. However, my excitement would be tempered. Alex Smith as a Buffalo Bill just doesn't get me super excited.

First, you have to draft a QB who does a few critical things well. For me, its accuracy, timing, and reaction to pressure. Quite the opposite of what EJ does and did in college. A big arm is great but not my first measure of success. Frankly, I haven't seen any of the top tier QBs in this draft that possess the vital skill set to become a franchise QB. The Bills would be wise not to use an early pick on a QB.
