  1. I'm fine getting rid of divisions. Apparently the season is going to be expanded to 17 games which complicates scheduling. With 16 teams in each conference, you could play everyone in your conference once (15 games), and then randomly select two teams from the other conference via balls in pots, similar to how they select who is in each group of the World Cup of Soccer. Each year you rotate 9 home games and 8 away games, to 8 home games and 9 away games. Top 6 records in each conference make the playoffs.
  2. Voila!! The Bills are 16th in the NFL in average drive starting position, with their average drive beginning on the 28.19 yard line. https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/drivestats/2019
  3. There will be a couple good QBs and they have 3 first round draft picks. Winning games and establishing the right culture is more important at this point than tanking.
  4. Greg Roman was a good OC who could conduct a great running game. The guys we've had since haven't been as good. They haven't been able to overcome horrible QB play.
  5. Very little. Allen is among the worst QBs in the NFL. Our regime doesn't bring much confidence either. Their drafting leaves a lot to be desired.
  6. I was more saying that the stretch of games from weeks 12 to week 16, when we play the Pats, will be especially challenging for Allen. Josh has struggled against some of the worst defenses in the league this year. Over that span, he plays the #6, #6, #10, #13 and #1 defenses in the NFL. It could get really ugly, and peoples' opinion of him could really go south between now and week 16 after he plays tougher opponents.
  7. Why would you not trade him for any of those guys? I'm curious.
  8. Absolutely nothing. It gets scary when you consider how many horrible defenses he's had the opportunity to play against.
  9. Absolutely. He stinks.
  10. What does this have to do with Josh Allen being a bad QB? Please try to stay on topic. He's about one of the 4-5 worst starting QBs by every metric you can use to evaluate QBs. All while playing one of the easiest schedules in the NFL.....
  11. Probably in a much worse position at QB than people think we're at right now.
  12. He just needs more time. Right?
  13. The true evaluation begins after the 2nd New England game. So far Josh has mostly played horrible defenses. In weeks 12-16 that changes. He'll face the T6th, T6th, 10th, 13th and 1st ranked scoring defenses over those five weeks. Given how much he's struggled against the cupcakes on our schedule, that could be a nightmare stretch of games for him.
  14. Why does it matter? Do you think Josh Allen is playing well? Do you think it's inappropriate to criticize him base off his play, and him being among the worst QBs in the league statistically?
  15. He's definitely small. I remember hearing something that in 1985 there were like 20 guys in the NFL who weighed more than 300 pounds and now the number is well above 300 of those guys.
  16. What is there to talk about after we beat horrible NFL teams? I want us to beat the good teams, and to see our offense perform well against quality opponents. That hasn't happened yet. If our QB keeps struggling to perform against quality opponents, we have a big problem on our hands. The schedule going forward is significantly harder than it's been up until now. Allen has to face the T6th, T6th, 10th, 13th and #1 defense over a 5 week span. My guess is that after the 2nd Pats game a lot more people are going to be questioning if our starting QB is actually any good.
  17. I'm sorry but if he's the guy we shouldn't have to feel like we're setting him up for failure. He's a second year QB with a returning OC playing on one of if not the healthiest teams in the NFL. We have no major injuries and are in the thick of the playoff race. Not to mention he has the #3 scoring defense in the NFL backing him up so it's not like he's being asked to do a whole lot of scoring for us to win games. Allen needs to beat beat at least a couple of those teams. If we finish the season 9-7 and he loses 4 or 5 of those games against decent defenses, and his signature win is over Tennessee in a game where their kicked missed 3 times, we've got a major problem on our hands. I'm not giving a guy who many considered a massive project with huge bust potential the benefit of the doubt. The guys who make it in this league have been showing they're really good really early in their careers over the past 10 years. If he's still at the bottom of the league in passing at the end of his second season, we should probably begin looking to hedge the bet we made when we picked him.
  18. Again, he's missing wide open targets. If he's intentionally putting the ball into a small window and overthrowing guys by choice, then you're saying he can't read what an open vs covered receiver looks like. Guys are running free and he's missing them so badly they can't get a hand on the football.
  19. I'm not missing the point. You're just guessing. You don't know if Allen is consciously trying to do that or if he's missing by that margin because he's just not putting the ball where he intends for it to go. Allen has missed wide open receivers on deep throws this year when the window was enormous. It's not like the players have been blanketed; he's missed John Brown, Foster and McKenzie when they've been wide open running down the field with 2 full yards of separation.
  20. Agreed. If he has a meltdown and we finish like 8-8 this place will be unbearable. He needs a signature win over someone who isn't picking in the top 10 in the next draft.
  21. This is all hypothetical. I can understand missing a guy by 2 yards and them having to stretch for balls because the window is small, but we're talking about a QB who is regularly missing deep throws by literally 5-8 yards which suggests he's completely missing. A guy like Tee Higgins would help because he's a good player, but ultimately I don't think he makes Allen any more accurate.
  22. We'll see where we are after the New England game. The way he plays in weeks 12-16 when he faces 5 very good defenses will dictate how big a need QB is heading into the offseason. If he plays well and wins 3-4 of those games, we've got something and it's not a priority. If he struggles badly against some of the best competition he'll face on defense all year, we may have a major problem on our hands.
  23. Allen needs to start playing well against good teams. Leading 4th quarter comebacks over the 25th, 28th, 31st and 9th (their kicked missed 3 field goals) ranked defenses is nice, but not really meaningful. Aside from the Titans, those games never should have been close in the first place. Weeks 12-16 he plays the T6th, T6th, 10th, 13th and 1st ranked defenses. That stretch will be his test. If he fails miserably against good opponents his seat should begin to warm up.
  24. I don't think there's a reason we can't do both. You can bet on Allen and still go after a QB you like in the 3rd round who you think has some ability. That way if Allen struggles next year you've got someone else you can take a look at, and if Allen plays well you've got a long term QB you can develop.
  25. Brees is one of 3-4 guys who did it. In terms of guys who didn't (started early and failed), there are dozens of examples.
