  1. His deep balls often miss the receiver by 10 yards. In all seriousness I remember watching highlights from his pro day, and people were blown away by the arm and the fact he can throw it 80 yards, and I was watching it and he threw a few incomplete passes that his receivers couldn't get to. That hasn't changed one bit since he got to Buffalo.
  2. By mostly throwing check downs within a few yards of the LOS. Completion percentage has little to do with whether or not he's an accurate passer.
  3. You can't teach accuracy.
  4. I dunno if he was ever elite but fine. He turned into a decent pro but pretty much every team he played for was looking to replace him which goes to show how high their regard of him was. Otherwise that's it. What you get at the end of year 2 is typically what you'll get in the future.
  5. I can't imagine this is true at all. Some proof or quotes from the OC or HC would be helpful.
  6. It won't happen this year. But if Allen isn't significantly better next season, like in the top 15 in QB Rating at least, the Bills need to cut bait on the whole operation and start fresh.
  7. Brees, Eli and Stafford are the only first round QBs who struggled their first two seasons who went on to become franchise guys. That's the extent of the list. I think you misread what I wrote. All of those guys were playing elite football by their 2nd season.
  8. Josh threw the ball 41 times yesterday. The result was a QB rating of 73, no passing TDs, and 16 points scored. The notion that the coaches are holding him back is hilarious.
  9. Jeeze. Being critical of a QB who is near the bottom of the league in every passing category means I want to run them out of town? I just want someone who can lead an offense and score points. So far Allen hasn't shown he can do that, and we should be looking for someone who can.
  10. It's not the offensive coordinators fault his QB can't execute the plays. This is the NFL. If we're dumbing down the playbook in 2019 when rookie and sophomore QBs are routinely near the top of the NFL in scoring and passing, then maybe we should look at the guy playing QB when he's near the bottom of the league in every passing category. We should be talking about putting more on our QB's plate if they're actually any good, not taking stuff off because they can't execute what they've been given.
  11. THIS!!!! How many QBs take a big step forward after being a starter 2 years? The answer is maybe 2-3 guys over the past 20 years.
  12. I don't hate anyone. I dislike him and am critical of him because he's one of the worst starters in the league and our offense can't score points. Tyrod Taylor was run out of town for posting better numbers than Allen has. If he wasn't good enough (he wasn't), why are people trying to tell me Allen is? Allen is a severely flawed passer who hasn't had a really good game all season despite playing some of the worst defenses in the league. Absolutely nothing about anything we've seen from him as a Bill says, "That guy is going to be an elite NFL QB," and that's what I think we need to win a Super Bowl.
  13. Cool. How's Allen's deep passing been for the rest of the season?
  14. My history of following the Bills closely for the last 20 years is that everytime people start blaming the offensive coordinator, the QB is always the real problem and is usually replaced within 1-2 years. A new offensive coordinator isn't going to make Josh Allen throw more accurately or make better decisions. He might scheme better plays but, but ultimately it's down to whether or not the QB can execute those plays efficiently, and the overwhelming evidence at this point is that he can't. He wasn't efficient in college. He wasn't efficient as a rookie. He hasn't been efficient this year (29th in the NFL in QB Rating). The list of QBs who had the light go on after two years on the field in the NFL is practically non existent when going back 20 years. Eli Manning, Drew Brees, maybe Matt Stafford (injured his 2nd season despite playing really well early that year). That's the list. On the flip side there are dozens of guys who never got any better.
  15. The Browns are showing a sell out blitz. If you need 4 yards for a first down, are you throwing the fade down the sideline against press man coverage, or the 5 yard button hook to the guy whose defender is leaning on his heels 12 yards off the line of scrimmage? The answer should be an easy one, and our QB picked the wrong one.
  16. QB is the most important position in football and our guy isn't even remotely good enough.
  17. Hard to argue with someone who can't count to 4, ie the number of defenders in coverage.
  18. Sure. That's why he should just look left, realize he needs 4 yards, and throw the 5 yard curl to the guy whose defender is playing 12 yards off the line of scrimmage. Horrible awareness by Allen. Don't get me started on McDermott. That's the biggest play of the game. As soon as Singletary was tackled in bounds you call a timeout, put a plan in place and run the play that's going to get you 5 yards, then go clock it. If it's incomplete you kick the field goal.
  19. At this point there's zero evidence it's going to happen. He's 29th in the league in QB Rating, our offense can't score, and most of that ranking was propped up by playing a cupcake schedule the first 7 games of the season. Allen is among the worst starting QBs in the league. Only 1-2 examples of guys over the past 20 years being in that part of the league who went on to be successful franchise QBs.
  20. Good god. He had another QB rating under 80 and we scored 16 points. How low is the bar for what a competent QB and offense should look like? He's 29th in the NFL in QB Rating, has thrown 10 TDs in 9 games and leads one of the worst offenses in the NFL. Our offense is awful because what we're getting from the QB position has been awful. Aside from beating up on garbage teams, he hasn't looked good all season.
  21. I just rewatched the play 4 times. In no way shape or form is it Cover 0. The Browns are in a hybrid shell. Man on the near side, zone in the middle and on the far side to keep everything in front. Denzel Ward is manned up against John Brown in press man coverage. That's obvious. On the other side, the CB is 12 yards off the line of scrimmage in a soft zone. He's on his heels, and is no no way going to be playing man coverage. He's already back peddling as the ball is snapped. The safety is 15 yards off the line of scrimmage and shifts over towards Beasley a little bit, and probably gets to about 12 yards when the ball is snapped. Both he and the corner both appear to be be bailing deep, to not let anything behind them. There's a linebacker or safety in the middle of the field who checks our TE, but appears to also be in a zone, or possible spy in case Allen escapes the pocket. It's a misread all the way by Allen. You need 4 yards, and the guys responsible for not letting Beasley get behind him is 12 yards off the line of scrimmage. Just brutal situational awareness to not take the easy check down.
  22. Cover 0 means there's no safety help, yet I can only see 3 of the 4 DBs (assuming the corner at the bottom is on Brown). Where's the 4th DB if he's not providing safety help deep? 7 guys blitz, 2 on screen, one off screen covering Brown down the sideline. Where's the 11th man?
  23. If it was Cover 0 Cole Beasley would be locked up in man coverage and not standing wide open.
  24. Stop making excuses. He's not suddenly going to learn this between now and next season. The year QBs typically make their big jump is year 1 to year 2. After that what you see is almost always what you get. The guys who succeed in the NFL as first round picks almost always show they're really good shortly after they get on the field. The guys who struggle the way Allen has in his 2nd year (29th in the NFL in QB Rating), are usually on new teams by their 5th season. The offense has no rhythm because their QB is one of the most inefficient passers in the NFL.
  25. They're just playing better teams. All the cupcakes on our schedule came early. Now we're playing teams with settled rosters (post trade deadline) who are trying to win football games. The result is that our offense is looking worse, because they're playing tougher opponents. This is a terrible offense. There are major long term problems at QB and OC, and possibly even HC.
