  1. Elite receivers rarely see the free agent market. We either need to trade for someone, or (my preference) draft someone. This receiver class looks historically good. Most big boards have 20-25 receivers in their top 100 players. With that much talent, I'd bet some guys slip as other positions are prioritized, and we might be able to pick up a 3rd round talent in the 4th or 5th round.
  2. I've looked at the free agent lists and honestly very few players have me interested. I'd rather just keep doing what we're doing vs overpay top tier free agents. Keep nailing the draft, and keep adding guys on prove it deals who have talent but don't have big value usually because they're coming off injuries or out of schemes where they weren't really a good fit.
  3. The Bills have killed the NFL signing 2nd and 3rd tier free agents over the last few years. Their big money should be spent extending their own. Jordan Phillips and Shaq Lawson need to come back. Matt Milano needs a new deal, and I'd even prioritize working out an extension for Trey White now. Those four guys will all require pretty serious money. The Bills appear to be very heavily based on establishing a culture. At this point the culture is there. Like some of the best teams around the league the next step is to let people inside the building know that if you do your job you'll be taken care of financially. Keep going after cheap vets on 1 and 2 year "prove it" contracts, and if you can get the right 2nd tier guy (think John Brown) who fills a specific need and might be undervalued by the rest of the league, do it. Then keep plugging away in the draft. Pick up another 2-3 year high end rookies and some more depth, and keep building out the roster.
  4. Yup. I think this could actually be an easy win if we just take care of the football.
  5. The defense wasn't lights out? They allowed 7 points until 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. What on earth are you talking about? Allen played really well. So did the whole damn team. To me, the notion of carrying a team means you're picking up a ton of slack for other people not playing well. It's a high standard I have. I'm not trying to take anything away from Josh. He played great against Dallas, but so did our defense.
  6. You think he carried us to a win in that game? He threw for 230 yards and scored two touchdowns. Our defense and special teams were lights out. He was really good, but I think it's a stretch to say he carried the whole team unless you really want to lower the bar. The whole team played great. I mean, did Baker Mayfield carry the Browns to a win over us? Of course not. Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson are carrying their teams. That's the level I consider carrying a team.
  7. When has Josh ever carried this team? I genuinely can't think of a time where the Bills won because Josh Allen carried the team to victory and compensated for a bunch of things not going to plan. Maybe Minnesota last year? I can't think of a game this year.
  8. If Allen takes care of the ball and puts 20 points on the board we should win this game. The Pats are running on fumes offensively and it's hard to see their offense being productive against us, given the struggles Brady has had recently against much lesser opponents.
  9. He was great against Dallas. It was his best game as a pro. The issue for me is the number of other times he hasn't played well, sometimes against very poor opposition. His inconsistency is what drives me insane.
  10. Coaching and defense matter. Contrary to popular belief, football is a team sport.
  11. You guys are such homers. Our offense is horrible. You all act like Allen is setting the world on fire.
  12. If the Bills take care of the football and don't commit any special teams errors, they should win Saturday. It's hard to see Brady, who looks like he's at about 70%, being able to score many points on this defense.
  13. The Bills need two receivers. One early and one in the middle rounds.
  14. I think the following QBs would all have equalled or out produced the points production we've produced this year in our offense with this defense and special teams supporting them. I think we'd be 10-4 if you swapped any of them with Allen into this 53 man roster. Jackson, Brees, Watson, Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers, Garoppolo, Cousins, Prescott, Ryan, Stafford, Brady, Tannehill, Wentz, Murray, Roethlisberger, Brissett, Mayfield, Bridgewater, Rivers. I think Daniel Jones, Darnold and Jameis Winston (his turnovers wouldn't matter because our defense is so good) would all be close.
  15. I bet most top 20 NFL QBs are loved by their team. That's not a phenomenon unique to Josh Allen.
  16. Yes. There are at least 20 QBs in the NFL right now who would be leading this offense to the same or better productivity than Allen has done so far.
  17. Daboll consistently schemes open receivers, and our QB either can't hit them or the receivers drop the ball a lot of the time. Our screen game needs help, but I think that's more a product of our linemen not being mobile enough to execute it very well.
  18. Wins are a team stat. I like that the Bills are winning. I think our QB has contributed very little to us winning that most NFL QBs couldn't replicate or improve upon. I think there are at least 20 NFL QBs who would have allowed this team to go at least 10-4 so far.
  19. Of course that's all you care about. That's all there is that says Josh Allen might be a good QB. His actual production and game film doesn't cooperate with what you want to be true.
  20. The Allen and Wilson comparison isn't even remotely accurate. Wilson is one of the most efficient QBs in NFL history, and has been since he first entered the league. Josh Allen has a career QB rating of 77.5.
  21. The point I'm making is that athleticism is great, but if you don't eventually develop into a pocket passer who can accurately pick defenses apart from within the pocket, it doesn't matter if you can throw the ball 80 yards or run 4.7 at 240 pounds, you will not make it as a franchise QB in the NFL.
  22. The most popular one is wins. He's winning, and that's good, so just ignore all the data that says he's a bottom tier QB.
  23. ELO is for teams isn't it? He's 28th in DYAR, 28th in DVAO, and 28th in QBR.
  24. No, I'm saying if you have a great defense and a QB who is bottom 10 in practically every passing category, they deserve little credit. I think Josh is a bottom 10 QB in the NFL right now. If that continues for another year or two we should be looking for someone new. Hopefully he improves and ranks in the top half of the league next year. Where do you think he should rank? Top half? Top 10?
