Fan Duel ranks the top 10 pro athletes in NY
SinceThe70s replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hmm, I'll grant you that I interpreted "top athlete" as best player whereas you interpreted it as most popular. If I understood the topic as most popular I would never have responded - who gives a flying f##k which players are popular? -

I was disappointed Barzal didn't make the list. Probably fair - but not at the expense of Adam Fox. -

The topic is top pro athlete. You insinuated most popular (biggest star) into the conversation. And you still didn't bother to answer who is the bigger star and who is the better player between Cole and Scherzer? -

You still haven't answered any of my direct questions to the statement you made- which is weak. Yes, the Yankees franchise has an amazing legacy. That has 0 to do with the current top 10 athletes in NY sports topic - unless you are of the opinion that wearing the Yankee laundry automatically makes you a better player than one wearing the Mets laundry. Do you think that? -

Are you seriously saying that the Yankees can afford whoever they want, but the Mets can't? Have you been paying attention to MLB lately? But that's entirely beside your original point that I questioned - that the Yankee star is always bigger than the Mets star. I'll try to ask again: if the Yankees star is bigger than the Mets star does that mean he's better? Is Gerritt Cole better than Max Scherzer? Both of those stars chose to play for a NY team - which one is better? Which is a bigger star? -

Got it, so you don't actually consider talent - the laundry they wear makes them better. It amazes me that there are Bills fans that have this attitude with other teams they root for. -

Jake's first year was 2014. He started in 22 games that year. Since then he started 30 (2015). 24, 31, 32, 32, 12 and 15...so what are these large chunks of time he's missed since 2015? Maybe you fat fingered and meant 2020. With that said, I think it's legit to question whether Jake will be able to stay on the field going forward. -

So if you currently play for the Yankees you're automatically better than anyone that currently plays for the Mets? Or are you saying that if you are the best current player on the Yankees it automatically makes you better than the best current player on the Mets? Or is there some other point that you're making here that I'm missing? -

Apple TV has a Friday night package this year, different teams each week. The Friday night games are exclusive to Apple TV but free - you just need to set up an Apple account if you don't have one already. The Apple TV broadcast last night was God-awful in every way imaginable. At one point I turned off the volume and tried listening to radio but there was a half-batter delay so that didn't work. As I'm watching last night I started reading Buck's comments about the three Mets that got hit in the opener. His premise was that it wasn't intentional but it's still not acceptable. He actually made the point that the pitchers should be able to use stuff that let's them grip the ball better - the same way a batter is allowed to. Then I look up at the TV in time to see Lindor take one off his chin.

The Bills need to acquire an enforcer on defense.

Do you see anything wrong with that sentiment? -
Appreciate the feedback. I trust word of mouth more than other sources.

I think the Rules of Basketball on the side of the Kansas jerseys is cool. But I need NC and < 147 points and that's all that matters to me this evening wrt NCAA hoops.

It's not just what I hear on the news. I've heard from people that work in NYC that things took a turn for the worse during the pandemic. Rampant drug use in and around the Times Square area was one example given. Personally, I have no interest whatsoever in spending time in NYC right now.

Case in point: are they really planning on moving Marte to RF and keeping Nimmo in CF?

Sticking with the pizza theme from Slapshot: Ned Braden: Now, they give you one phone call. See they book you, and then the give you one phone call. Jack Hanson: Call the pizza man! -
Yeah, i figure the Hosmer thing is Cohen flexing his financial muscles to bring in a pitcher. Hosmer isn't a fit - but I guess you could say he's the same square peg as Dom. On a side note I saw Dom in a spring training interview and man he looked and sounded great. Can't believe how far he's come since he first came up and looked like a guy in desperate need of a pillow. I had no use for him back then, but I'm a big fan now.

Hate to say it but I'm concerned deGrom is finished. Scherzer is a hammy so I'm less concerned. Have you heard the latest trade rumor: Dom for Eric Hosmer and Chris Paddack.

I think that we owe a big round of applause to our newest, bestest buddy, and big toe... Sergeant Hulka. -

I have a habit of incorporating movie lines into my everyday life. Sometimes it drives my wife crazy - other times she's been known to quote my frequently used lines. Pulp Fiction: Hamburgers! The cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast. Vacation: I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? Animal House: Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son -

My go-to starting point is 8+9-5=12...5 of the10 digits and 2 of the 4 operators right off the bat. I usually get the right answer in 3.
