Why the Buffalo Bills can't beat the Patriots today
kasper13 replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe, but he won't be on the field much. NE will do what Arizona, Miami and the Jets have done. Short passes, screen passes, dump off passes. That's what NE does anyway and the Bills can't stop it. If they do come up with something to stop it- Moss will just torch the Bills today. I have zero confidence about this game. -
Obviously, it depends on how they play. If they continue to refuse to throw a deep pass just to let teams know they may do it, if they continue to have no running game, if they continue to turn the ball over, if the defense can't figure out a way to stop the short passing game, if the defense continues to not get to the QB, if the defense continues to give up late, game killing drives, if the coaching staff continues to make stupid decisons, then the Bills will finish 7-9. Honestly, I think Edwards is not 100%, if he gets back to 100% healthy and if they fix some of those things, they could go 10-6 and maybe get into the playoffs. 5-3 and having lost 3 of 4 certainly changes the perspective on things as opposed to 4-0, 5-1 and talking AFC East Champs, 1st Round Bye and a home playoff game. They sucked us in again. Let's hope they get things turned around.

Who Picked Those Colors for the Titans in 1960???
kasper13 replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like the NY Titans jerseys. Helmet needs a logo though. All the Bills did in 1960 was wear the Lions colors because Ralph was a minority owner of the Lions at one point and is from the Detroit area. Their official colors were Silver and Honolulu Blue- exactly like the Lions. The Broncos bought some unis at a garage sale in 1960. There was nowhere near the marketing or merchandising back then like there is now. I don't think teams put much thought into their apperance. Whatever was cheapest. No logos on helmets, no names on the back of jerseys. Hit the bargain bin at Champion and let's play some ball. -
Washed up veteran doesn't want to come here- to hell with him. What's the difference between Buffalo and KC anyway? Not like he was losing any money. I don't think he really wanted to play for a contender anyway. If he did, he would have come here. Philly? Philly's not touching the playoffs. Giants didn't want him. Stay and rot in KC. See you in a few weeks TG. Bum.

I don't know if they would have won but I think it would have been closer. Would have won if they could have figured out how to stop the dink and dunk passing game of the Cards. After the first 4 scoring drives you would have thought they could have figured it out.

When did Schobel turn into just another guy?
kasper13 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Simple answer is he has been playing hurt. Bad foot. Maybe he will be healthy in two weeks and there will be an improvement. -
Defense was brutal today. Difference in the game, no question. However, looking at Losman, he is just not good. He holds on to the ball waaaayyyyy too long- still. 4 years and he is no better than he was when he was a rookie. If Edwards can't play, this season is pretty much over unless the defense gets it together and we can win games 9-6. Three times, I saw Losman drop back, look and throw. 30 times, I saw him drop back, look, look, look, look, get sacked or force a throw. The difference between Edwards and Losman is very clearly evident. It's like night and day. Sure JP has a good play or two or a great throw once a game but Edwards controls the game, makes consistent, good decisions and wins games. Anyone who defends Losman is either a relative of his, bought his jersey or is just looking for an arguement.
-
D-Fense!!!! D-Fense!!!!! D-Fense!!!!! Stunk the place out today. Arizona had the ball 8 times and scored 7. So far. Losman is getting b-slapped. He keeps holding onto the ball way too long. This one was bad from the opening kickoff. All AZ did was dink and dunk. Up and down the field all day long at will. I thought coming out in the third when they stopped them, the D had it figured out. Wrong as wrong can be. Throw this one out and let's get back to it in two weeks. I hope to god Edwards is back after the bye or this season is done.

Ch 4 may get dropped from Time Warner?

Missed it allright. PO'ed at these corporations. Sarcasm detector is off tonight. -
Ch 4 may get dropped from Time Warner?
kasper13 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Even over something as cheesy and minor as an NFL football game" Huh? Not from Buffalo or a Bills fan I take it. I would love to call you a bunch of names right now. Clueless moron will do. -
Ch 4 may get dropped from Time Warner?
kasper13 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They both suck. Bunch of rich scumbags fighting over how to divide our hard earned money...and messing with OUR UNDEFEATED BILLS GAMES. I could give a crap less about WIVB/CBS. Any of the crappy shows they have on CBS you can easily watch on the internet. Now they mess with a Bills Sunday, that's a different story. 330,000+ households in WNY have Time Warner Cable. 330,000 families. All we do is work our butts off all week at lousy, underpaid jobs in this POS economy and all most of ask for is to watch the Bills on USED-TO-BE FREE, LOCAL TV on Sundays. I pay the crooks at Time Warner alot of money every month, I can live w/o most of the garbage stations I pay for. Now they screw with the Bills Games for....MORE MONEY. How much is enough? Never enough I guess. I blame both of them. WIVB is finished if the game is not on. BOYCOTT their news when/if they ever come back on. A rating of 0.0 will send a message. No ratings=no ad revenue=bankrupt. I want to see Don Postels & Don Paul begging for money on the corner of Delaware & Hertel. No way to get DirecTV by game time tomorrow. All the rabbit ears available in the entire are are all gone. Time Warner even gave them away for free. Big deal. Of course, I will still be able to watch the game but it ticks me off that I have to go out of my way to do so and it won't be on my TV in HD. $175 to Time Warner a month is apparently not enough. (I get phone, internet and Digital Cable w/HD) Life, liberty and the Bills on HDTV. Is that too much to ask? -
They are "Throwbacks" because they are pretty much what teams used to wear back in the day. Most are ugly. Bills TB's aren't ugly. Maybe the best next to the San Diego powder blue. Jets were the NY Titans in 60 & 61. Hence the Titans no-logo, different colors look. I liked them. Would be better if they had a logo. Denver needs to wear the Brown & Yellow with vertical striped socks throwbacks. Those were seriously ugly. "Swagger" is the new "Brought Our A-Game". You could also go old-school and say "We took them behind the woodshed" or "We took the lumber to them". Flavor of the week, trying to sound cool terms.
-
We will see who the better team is in the playoffs. Bills owe them SOB's big time. Hope we have home field over them.
-
Well, he is also injured. Carted him off the field. Chest injury. Three Stooges on MNF remarked how out of shape he was before he got hurt. Glad he is not our problem anymore.

I don't count any game a win or a loss ahead of time. Dome in AZ, so 72 and zero humidity- no weather factor. Warner is a turnover machine. He holds the ball low and is very vulnerable to fumbles. He also makes terrible reads and throws the ball up for grabs way too often. Boldin is out. Umm...their secondary is suspect. Sure the Jets had great field position at times but the DB's still didn't make any plays. Favre torched them all day. Cardinals allegedly play better at home. Bills are a young team. Maybe they will play better earlier against a better team. Who knows? I like the Bills chances to go 5-0. If they are 4-1, so what? Anyone would have taken 4-1 heading into the bye week with the loss against a NFC team. Just enjoy the ride.

Strange game. Rams beat us up and down the field in the 1st half but the Rams are so bad it was still somehow close. It should have been 35-6 Rams. Great drive to start the 3rd, that quarter just blew by and in the 4th, the Int return by Greer was it. You could literally see the EJ Dome deflate. Bills just totally wrecked em' in the 4th. Bills just need to play the 2nd half twice next week. 4-0. Ridiculously great feeling. This Bills team reminds me of the 1980 team more and more each week.

I just heard Belicheat on ESPN saying the Pats*
kasper13 replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He can say what he wants about it, does not matter at all. What's the use in crying for a week about a dirty hit or a clean hit? I think it was the best hit ever of all-time. If it was dirty, and the NFL said it wasn't, so the hell what? Fact of the matter is Brady is out for the entire season,. Belicheat will spin anything & everything to get the questions off Brady/Cassel and how the Patriots are now just an ordinary team. I never thought Brady was that great but just played in a great system. We'll see how great the system is as they have a career backup nobody in there now. Can't happen twice to a team, can it? -
I'm more optimistic at this point than at any time in the last 8 years. Today just felt different. Instead of guys with nothing more than a name, a reputation and just being washed up, we got actual, good, solid players on D in Stroud and Mitchell. We have a QB with real potential that played well today (after the rust was shaken off). Not a QB that we were told has potential because the GM traded a few picks to move up to draft him. Bills have the best Special Teams in the league. Can break a kick or punt for a TD any time they touch the ball. Coverage is among the best as well. Instead of taking the FG and going up 23-10, they pull a fake FG deep out of the bag of tricks, it actually works, and go up 27-10. The Bills put this game away instead of letting Seattle stick around. That's a good sign. Injuries to key players on OTHER teams for a change. I fell things are finally falling into place and this isn't a fraud like the 8 previous seasons.

The Jets are not that good.... nor the Browns...
kasper13 replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jags looked lousy as well. Lost three starting O-linemen to injury. Rushed for 18 yards or something ridiculous like that. Things are falling into place. -
John Madden just said "the entire NFL should be devastated" by Brady's injury. I do not think anyone that is a Bills or a Jets fan is devastated by this. It makes the East a race and levels the field. Bills now have a shot at winning the division. That is what everyone should be happy about. Hopefully, the media will give it to the Jets and hype them even more. Personally my feeling is that any bad things that happen to the Patriots, they deserve it and then some.

There's never actually much of anything in the Buffalo News anymore. It maybe gets to 50 pages during the week. Sports section has more High School coverage than Bills coverage. One article about the Bills long snapper today. That's it. NFL news is next to nothing. I am curious to see what this Sunday's Sports section looks like. The Bills coverage is about a third of what it used to be. Whomever does the local news must just watch the 11pm news on TV and take a few stories from there. All the Local News stations do about 2 minutes of sports. Not much content or substance there anymore either. WGR is a joke. I expect (foolishly perhaps) that a sports talk radio station would have people that talk about sports. Not so much. The two times I turned on WGR yesterday, they were talking about moustache waxing in the morning and then kids going back to school in the afternoon. When they bothered to take calls in the afternoon all they did was dismiss the callers points as useless. I don't know if it's the lack of money or if they all think Bills fans get their information from the internet or the nationals (ESPN, NFL Network) or what. Coverage here certainly has fallen way off. I really miss the Empire Sports Network. Fan TV, Sportsline, all the Bills shows and so on.

Hypothetical New Stadium, Part 1
kasper13 replied to GhostsOfTheRockpile's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Waterfront. Put it where the Pier used to be. Knock down the useless, ugly Skyway. Run the Metrorail down there. Regular trains cab run there from the Depew station and elsewhere. Tracks are already there. Just need the train cars and the cash. Can develop the area around it with the usual hotels, restaurants, bars, condos and so on. Would be pretty cool if you ask me. Would probably be a much different atmosphere than there is now though. I have always had an idea for a Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Building. Next to the new Waterfront Stadium would be a good place for it. I would buy the team, build the stadium and the HOF Building. I am only a Billion and a half short though. Someone mentioned Lancaster. I live in Lancaster. No room for a stadium here anymore and the traffic is BRUTAL. Worse than anywhere in Buffalo especially during rush hour. Mostly two lane streets with no turn lanes. Transit Road is hell. No Thruway access close by. Can only get on the 400 going towards Orachard Park and on the 90 headed towards Amherst. It would be 20x more ridiculous getting out of there after a game than it is in OP. -
The bad: Always been this way at SJF. The directions in the newspaper are not so good to put it mildly. Have to get directions from Google Maps to be assured of not getting lost. The "veer to the right" on 96 is very tricky. Met up with a carvan of fans at a convenience store last year looking for good directions. Bad idea. Eventually found the parking lot by pure luck. Good map this year from Google and no problem but I still heard people complaining. Part two of this is the lack of parking at.near SJF. Why do I have to drive 15 minutes past camp to park, just to have the bus take me right back where I was? That has always frustrated me about SJF. Can't blame the Bills but the camp program is now a newspaper but it's still $2. The guy from the Rochester D&C said they were trying to save money. Where are all the vendor tables & all the freebies? 6 tables. Two empty. Two M&T Bank tables. Half the area taken up by Verizon. Used to be tons of vendors and you could get all kinds of free schedules, stickers, magnets and so on. Kids loved it. Old School Yellow Buses. No AC, bumpy ride, very cramped. Again, not the Bills fault. I heard the company w/ the shuttle buses pulled out of their deal just a couple days before camp started. They had to scramble to get buses at all. All in all, not a huge fan of SJF. I liked Fredonia better.

I saw my first Bills game in 1976. I am sure in the the mid 60's, there were tons of great wins but my top 2 are from games I was at. 1. Bills- Miami- Opener 1980. After 20 straight losses to Miami the Bills won. I was there. Still say it's the greatest game I ever went to. 2. Bills- NY Jets 1988- Bills clinch AFC East- Fandemonium. There are tons more great ones. For me, that 1980 season stands out (Raiders game- both teams were unbeaten, the Rams game when the players came back out and danced to Talkin Proud after their OT Win, the 49ers game where Fergy sprained his ankle but the Bills still won and clinched the East- if he hadn't gotten hurt, I think they would have gone the distance that year) as does the 1990 season (The Broncos & Raiders games- back to back comebacks and the last play of the game win with the Kelly to Jamie Mueller TD). Some of the others- 1988 Monday Night Football against Miami & the Jets. Bills hammered them both. 1989 MNF win against the Rams. Frank Reich puilled out a win late. 1992 MNF at Miami. I believe the Bills clinched the East with that win and it was in late November. There are others I can't even remember right now. What about a Greatest Season topic? Don't just say 1965 beacuse they won the AFL Championship. Make it a season that you remember fondly and why. Maybe you went to your first game or it was the first time you had season tickets- whatever. For me, it was the 1980 season. I was just a kid and it was the first time the Bills were good with me being a fan, went to 5 games that season and to this day, I can remember the excitement in WNY about the Bills. Went to see them at Training Camp for the first time that year and I also remember getting Bells Bills Cards every week and actually getting a 1980 Bills AFC East Champs T-Shirt. They didn't have the merchandise back then that they do now. I went to games before that and was a fan but that year hooked me for life.
