  1. I guess what I'm getting at is how do you even justify giving him over a roster spot unless he is head and shoulders better than the next best guy.
  2. I know he's cheap but how can you rely on a guy who is never available?
  3. Addison has 3 years of term, Hughes has 2 and Murphy has one. You would think they wouldn't want to have Clowney and Hughes up in the same year so a 1 year or a 3 year make more sense that way and a 4 year might be perfect so you had one potentially come off the books each year and Clowney would be the youngest of them all
  4. Just a QB, RB, and a pass rusher away? Thank God. I thought it might be something serious.
  5. Depends on what they did. Could be accelerating hit into this year to make more next.
  6. Only counts completed deals I'm sure not any of the deals with complicated pending language that aren't technically completed
  7. Yes, but they have had the option to extend Brady on a multi-year for the last couple years and chose not to. They have had some decent QBs through there recently and I don't think BB will go into a season without a functioning QB at his age. There is a distinct possibility that they just go back to physical football and defense like they did before Brady was Brady. Knowing the the league has to prepare for teams like KC by getting smaller and quicker, a team that commits to pounding the football right now could have some success. Brady was part of the equation there, admittedly a big one, but BB is the thing that has made it work. In the 20 years Brady was their QB that team evolved at least 3 different times to match what the team had and/or to do what BB thought would work to counter what the league was doing.
  8. You know, I remember a time being excited that Drew Bledsoe was injured and being replaced by a scrubby 6th round pick. Perhaps we should consider the possibility that Jarrett Stidham isn't garbage and/or that they are planning on taking a QB in round 1 and doing whatever it takes to make that happen.
  9. They would. I challenge the kids to make me pay for it. They've made me buy 5 in 4 years and we've come in second 4 more times.
  10. The problem are the insane parents who berate coaches, kids and officials. Getting referees is increasingly difficult in all sports as people stop doing it because it's not worth the hassle. Getting coaches is almost as difficult. I am anti participation trophy in general because I think they are wasteful but the reason the participation trophies exist is not because the kids asked for them, it's because there is a loud segment of parents that demand them. If you win something that's fine, celebrate that. If you didn't win find another way to celebrate your improvement. If you were there just for fun then none for this conversation matters to you because you had fun. I've coached quite a bit as an adult, some paid gigs some volunteer, and there were plenty of times I knew our team wasn't going to win much and resetting those expectations for everyone early on wasn't fun but it made everyone happier in the end. We probably aren't going to do X but you as an individual can do Y if you work hard. Achieve your goal, take that win for yourself, and try to enjoy playing because you want to play. When I got my current job I killed the participation trophies. If a coach wants to buy them or the parents want to buy them that is their business but it doesn't come out of my budget. My budget pays to help you improve as a student athlete. If our team wins a championship I buy the banner for our gym out of my own pocket.
  11. Take as many victory laps as you want. I'm not sure Allen is any better than Mitch Trubisky. I didn't like Rosen either FWIW.
  12. If he were healthy they wouldn't be moving him. It's a question of how broken is he?
  13. Upgrading backup QB really needs to be a consideration. I dont know if Winston is the right fit but we need a guy who can come in off the bench and win a game if needed and then potentially start a couple weeks. I don't think Barkley is that guy. As much as he stinks, Blake Bortles might be an option, he and Allen are similar and you wouldn't have to change the offense much.
  14. Twice as many forced fumbles and 12 fewer games played because Bruce missed almost all of 1991. It is eye opening. Bruce's overall impact on the game compared to Mario Williams isn't even close.
  15. I'd take him if they gave us solid draft pick compensation. Otherwise it's clear they are going to release him. On a pitch count he can still be a useful player but you don't pay platoon backs his salary
  16. That's cool. I'm going to go ahead and keep paying it every month even if it's paused and just pay down the balance of the loan during that time. It's also a very helpful thing for people who won't be in that sort of position and it takes a lot of pressure off people.
  17. Well, let's start off with about 20 years of actual experience wherein she has had measurables and accountability. There is a big difference between "being around" and actually doing and having something at stake when you are actually doing it. I've "been around" my wife's career since day one. Stuff like actually fighting her way up to upper management before age 40 in a field that is EXTREMELY male dominated. Those are things that happen when you are actually good at something. Like I said, based on resume, explain it to me. There are all sorts of things I know about my wife's line of work just from "being around". It doesn't mean that I can do her job. In fact, I'll tell you right now that I can't. I don't have her level of expertise and experience in that field. What I will again say is that there are TONS of women in the business world who have actually had to earn their stripes to move up and there are tons of them, all over the Fortune 500, that are more qualified for that job than the person who is actually in charge. Terry can put whoever he wants in charge of whatever he wants. It his money, he owns the teams, that's his prerogative. Let's not pretend that the Sabres are a well run organization. They aren't.
  18. My wife is the VP of a business and she's more qualified. Calling something sexist when it isn't sexist cheapens what actual sexism is which is discriminating against people who are actually qualified for the position based on their gender. You've seen it now. Why should she have that job over other more qualified women?
