  1. Considering this is a new offense to the Bills players, and Taylor was playing in his fifth start. Then the limited talent on the line, and all the injuries... i'm just happy with the win!
  2. The Bills won a game on the road that they really needed to win to stay legit in the division. A win is a win!! I'm watching the Dallas-Patriot game, and the Cowboys are really giving Tom Brady fits while hitting him a bunch. Makes me wonder why the Bills played the scheme they played against Brady

Like I said this game was against the Colts where it looked like they blitzed a ton, and it was more the better coverage that caused Luck to look so bad. To put those pressures in better context currently the Buffalo Bills are 19th in sacks with seven, and Denver is leading the NFL with 18. The Bills sack percentage is currently 27th out of 32. Last season they ended the year at #1 out of 32 with 54 sacks against 559 pass attempts with a sack percentage of 8.8. This is a huge difference between last years defense and this years so far! Now lets discuss the NE game. This isn't the very first time ever the Bills have faced Brady, or a QB that can get the ball out quickly. ooohh under 2 seconds, whatever will we do??? Rex Ryan played a soft cover defense that game, and was roasted for it! "Rex Ryan, Dennis Thurman and defensive coaching staff: Ryan told his team that this loss was on his shoulders, and so he's a natural place to start in the "down" column. Ryan's defensive game plan couldn't put pressure on Tom Brady-- the Bills disrupted (a sack, batted ball, passed defense or interception) only 9.8 percent of Brady's dropbacks, a lower rate than in any of the Bills' 2014 games -- and he never seemed to have an effective plan for stopping either Rob Gronkowski or Julian Edelman." http://espn.go.com/b...defensive-staff Allow me to reiterate, Nihilarian, on 08 Oct 2015 - 12:38 PM, said:
  4. Man, Hopkins a monster WR wow, blown coverage by the Colts...TD!
  5. Better for Houston as Hoyer looks to have the hot hand. Mallett looking grumpy on the sidelines.
  6. I'm just happy Ryan is attempting to fix this penalty problem. Take away those 7 first downs, and give back those two TD's, and Eli isn't happy.
  7. Awesome first half ending with that Hoyer hail Mary TD! Foster in concussion protocol
  8. Those 11 hurries were for the entire team, and not one player. Just FYI, in four games played. Jerry Hughes 5 hurries-Mario Williams 4 hurries-Marcell Dareus 3 hurries- Kyle Williams 2. That's 14 hurries for arguably the leagues best D line. To put that in context KC LBer Justin Houston has fourteen by himself after four games so far this year. The bigger point is, and that I've been attempting to covey is that the Bills have some of the very best defensive line players in the NFL, and they themselves are saying that they are not happy with the current scheme! They say they would prefer to just rush the passer. I happen to agree with them as I would like to see the Bills just blitz that front four more often, and have Ryan run his overload blitz more often too. Dunno why this continues to elude you. I can see the animosity growing with the quibbling over minor things, and I doubt that anything I post will ever get through. So... Go Bills!
  9. I wonder if BB still wants the Bills to trade for Mallett?
  10. Only 11 pressures out of the 30 blitzes was the larger point that was overlooked. Perhaps this was also missed, " As far as Dareus is concerned, simpler is better. He has felt that since training camp, when he complained publicly about not seeing eye-to-eye with how he was being coached. “We play better up front when they just let us go,” Dareus said Wednesday. “... Now we have more responsibilities and more things going here and there. It’s just playing inside the defense and playing under control, so that the blitzing schemes and everything fit perfectly." Yea, I agree. It makes little sense to keep discussing this...
  11. What I think most fans are missing is Ryan is not using his overload blitzing as much as he has in the past. Against the Colts where it looked like the Bills blitzed a lot. In fact they only blitzed 30 of 53 drop backs, and managed only 11 QB pressures. It was the strong coverage by the Bills secondary that Luck had the most trouble with. Vic Carucci in his article talks about the players saying there is a disconnect with Ryan's current scheme, and even they are saying that they would prefer to just pass rush more.
  12. I think you are missing my point! I'd rather see Rex Ryan return to his mainstay defense with the overload blitzing scheme like he had with the Jets, and the Bills had with Pettine. When the Bills drop a D linemen into coverage they are sometimes only rushing with three players which is something I really dislike, and takes away from what those defensive line players do best.
  13. I didn't say that at all. If the Bills are going to zone blitz, and drop a DE into pass coverage I know I'd prefer it to be Jerry Hughes who has the size of a LBer at 252lb, and he can run a sub 5.0 40. Williams ran a 5.25 at the combine 10 years ago
  14. In my view its sort of a ridiculous miss-match for that huge linemen in Kyle Williams to be asked to cover a receiver crossing that zone, as those men are being to cover an area larger then they normally would as a pass rusher. Then being asked to possibly chase around a receiver across the field could easily wear them out during a game. With the team dropping a linemen into coverage at times then they only rushed with three! It doesn't matter how many times they were asked to drop into pass coverage (and I'm far to lazy to go back and look) since that is not what those players are being paid the big bucks to do. This also isn't the sole reason as to why the defense isn't playing as well as it could. Like I asked previously, what would you rather see Kyle Williams, Jerry Hughes do in a game? I know I'd rather see Ryan do what he does best, and that is bring one more rusher then the offense has blocking while finding a way to get to the QB to ruin his day. That, and fixing the penalties!! They gave the Giants 7 first downs
  15. Looks like the Titans got behind two TD's early in that game and had great difficulty on offense in the first half. That first TD by Johnny Football was a 60 yd TD bomb on their second play, and I suspect they didn't have a whole lot of film on what the Browns would do with Manziel at QB. The Titans had three fumbles in that game, and Mariota was sacked seven times.
  16. "Rex'sOffense" was saying its the players that need to be changed, and all I did was point out that even being used in pass coverage they still graded well. So, its not the players fault that the 300lb D linemen are being asked to be put in pass coverage instead of rushing the passer. You have a 300lb DT Kyle Williams that excels in a six yard area in getting to the QB, and instead of having him do what he does best in rushing the passer. You ask him to drop straight back to cover a RB, TE, or a WR. He can do that job to a degree, but which would you rather see him do?
  17. Yea well, forgive me as I have a strange way of getting my points across sometimes Fans look at the Titans and think. Oh, they suck! With some predicting a Bills blowout. The Wiz is not that bad a HC, and has found his franchise QB in Mariota. The Titans are coming off a bye week, and have had extra time to prepare. Then, If the Bills don't rein in those penalties...
  18. The Raiders were a bad 2-12 team last year when the Bills were vying for a playoff spot in week 16. That Raider team also had a rookie QB, and were near last in defensive stats across the board. Yet the Bills lost that game 26-24! The point being is the Bills can't take this 1-2 team with a rookie QB lightly!
  19. Believe it or not Kyle Williams is getting a positive grade dropping into coverage, and Jerry Hughes did manage to break up a pass to Rob Gronkowski. The players are fine, and its the scheme along with the penalties that needs to change IMO
  20. Gonna be interesting because the Titan defense is currently ranked 5th against the run, 1st against the pass, and 6th overall. Their offense in 9th overall, and they are playing at home. (IDC who they have played so far either). We still don't know if Karlos will play or will it be the Boobie & Boom show? Bills 22. Titans 17 Not many penalties on Buffalo, the defense shows up this game, and Tyrod has his way with roll outs, and runs!
  21. Good stuff, and I agree. A few thoughts here. Its OK to be concerned about the Bills defense so far because most of us were expecting greatness, and not excuses! Rex Ryan has a pedigree of building top defenses, and his defense usually play great against Tom Brady. In his six years as the Jets HC he never allowed 466 passing yards to ole Tom! Brady didn't just suddenly start getting the ball out quickly, as he has been running the same offense his entire career. Rex Ryan admitted he made a mistake with his defense on Brady, as he went to a soft nickle coverage a lot in that game. Instead of getting heavy pressure on Brady he decided to try and have his DB's play a 10-15 yard cushion off the line. Because of that mistake his defense suddenly jumped to 31st in total defense, and 32nd against the pass. Those stats changed this last game to 22nd in total defense, but still 29th in passing defense. Those stats matter!! Just like the Bills playing against the #1 defense against the run in the Giants and they held true to those stats by holding the Bills to a 2.3 ypc avg. I suppose the anti stat fans will say that the 24 rushes for only 55 yards doesn't matter, 29th in pass defense after four games doesn't matter because this excuse, that excuse, another excuse, and BTW excuse, excuse, excuse! Is there still time for Ryan to field a Buffalo Bills top five defense this year, you bet! Will they? We honestly don't know, and if he continues to spew this crud that his defenses can't stop a QB with a quick release. News flash, Ryan Fitzpatrick has a very quick release too, and Ryan smoked Fitz when he was the Bills QB 2x in 2010, 2x in 2011, 1x in 2012. The Bills entire offense under Gailey was predicated on the quick, short pass, and guess what. He is back in the division as the Jets OC with Fitz as his QB!! Then, no other defense has played Tom Brady better then Rex Ryan from 2009-2014 in 2013 In both games the Jets lost by 3 points each. In 2014 each game was lost by one point, and two points. The last game against the Jets in 2014 in week 16 Brady didn't even pass for 200 yards. He went 25 of 35 for 182 yards-1 TD-1 INT. Rex Ryan himself has said he has never had this amount of talent on a defense, so freaking pardon me If I'm not happy about being 29th in pass defense after four games. The problem is not in the defensive secondary because they have played really well from what I've seen. The problem looks to be lack of D line rotation along with far to much dropping into coverage instead of finding different ways to get to the QB, and the penalties!! JMO
  22. WW two was a must win! The Titans are a 1-2 team coming off a bye with extra time to prepare. They beat the Buc's and lost to the Browns, Colts. Stat wise they have a top 5 defense, and are 9th in total offense Everything will depend on which Bills team shows up. The Bills D that played the Patriots with the soft cover defense or the one that played Miami, NY Giants, and the Colts. The offense that started with passing roll outs or the one that kept trying to run into a stacked box. Here is hoping Rex Ryan didn't just put his foot in his big mouth again, and the Bills win this one in Tenn. 23. This! Good post. This makes a lot of sense.
  24. Yep, especially if we kept giving ourselves 7 first downs
