Watch, Elway will find a QB
Nihilarian replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would be willing to bet that if Taylor becomes available that Denver would go after him. -
I'd rather have Brian Hoyer If the Bills were to move away from TT. "Glennon's lack of mobility and slow trigger limit his ceiling." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000756816/article/qb-index-the-2017-trade-marketfree-agency-guide Jeez, forget Tony Romo who couldn't stay healthy behind the best offensive line in the league the last two years. Unless you want to sign a guy for 25 million plus only to see him on IR with Watkins. Read what the article has to say about Taylor and stop thinking somebody else's scrub is a better option. "Taylor has defined strengths with his vertical throws and exceptional running. He's also extremely careful with the ball. Put Tyrod with Rex's early Jets defenses, and you'd have a Super Bowl contender. (Rex has been chasing the ghosts of those defenses for six years now.)" I'd be for keeping TT for now and either seeing what Cardale Jones can do and or draft a QB too. While I think Jones has all the right physical tools, so does EJ.

The NY Jets fired Eric Mangini after a 9-7 season and hired Rex who also went 9-7. It just so happened that the Jets made the playoffs in 2009 at 9-7 and because the defense was so good they made it to the AFC Championship game. We have seen what happens to Rex Ryan's defense this year against good teams. My take is it was the Miami and Jets losses that were the backbreakers this year. 493 yards of offense allowed by Buffalo to the crappy (now 4-10) Jets. 454 yards of offense allowed by Buffalo to the Dolphins and Jay Ajayi had 214 on the ground. Buffalo is currently 27th against the run, 31st in rushing TD's allowed.

This is a very dumb idea. A goofy stork at QB with turnstiles on the right side... just great if you want to lead the league in sacks allowed. Even if Rex is gone I don't see Whaley hanging himself by dumping Tyrod. Besides, Taylor wasn't the biggest problem with the team this year. The defense having epic letdowns against the Jets, Dolphins, Steelers and the run game going invisible at times against some teams. This is a run first team and for the offense to work the team must be able to run against every team. All this and the fact that the leading receiver was playing hurt all season and then the second guy goes down for a few weeks. Clay missing a big game because his wife had a baby. The rest of the receivers are scrubs and try hards. If Chis Hogan was JAG, the rest of the Buffalo receiver corps are JSS.

Rex was told he's being dismissed

What owner, GM, team president in his right mind would tell someone weeks before the end of the season they are done and allow them to continue working? None, that's who! Complete rubbish as the team still has an ever so slight chance to make the playoffs. -
Watch Rex really close. I think he has been already told.

The reality is that if the Bills had played a Tom Brady at QB team the Bills would now be 6-8. The saddest part of this year has been the defense that so many Bills fans said would get better with another year of learning Ryan's scheme. With more defensive coaches on the Bills payroll. Only got worse. The defense was #10 after playing bad teams and then played the Raiders, Steelers and went to 17th, 18th now* 28th against the run. To be honest this year's defense has been an embarrassment in that first game against the Jets, Dolphins, and Steelers. The Steelers in particular in allowing 236 yards of rushing set a franchise worst record for Buffalo and a franchise best record for Pittsburgh. -
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8368/doug-marrone Jaguars interim coach Doug Marrone is a candidate for the permanent job. "Experience is critical," GM Dave Caldwell said on Monday. Marrone sort of has it after two years in Buffalo, the second of which featured him quitting on the team in January. Marrone undoubtedly desperately wants the gig. He's been reduced to offensive line coaching work since misjudging his market in 2015. Marrone would be a neither great nor awful hire.

There is no question that is Pete Carrolls defense and his scheme in Seattle. He looks for a particular type of player in the draft and then molds them to his system. Interesting to note that Carroll got his start in the NFL as the Buffalo Bills DB's coach way back when...1984 at the age of 33. Still, Bradly was the Seahawks DC under Carroll for four years and that Jags secondary is a lot like the Seahawks secondary. Their D-line only rushed four and they were very aggressive, quick in getting to the QB when they played Buffalo.

Week 16 rooting interests right here
Nihilarian replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Beating Miami 9-5 and QB Matt Moore with a 1-0 record with four TD's passes against the Jets is not a foregone conclusion. The Bills haven't beaten a winning QB all year and only winning team they beat were the Patriots because they faced an injured 3rd string rookie QB who went on IR right after the game. Then the Bills face a NY Jets team in NY. Last place seed stinks. -
If Rex is fired, does a team hire him as DC?
Nihilarian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not if that have a brain and have been watching games the last two seasons. -
You make it sound like the difference between the teams was the bounce of the ball or a turnover...It wasn't! The difference was the Bills giving up a historically bad franchise record in yards allowed to a single player in Pittsburgh RB Le'Veon Bell in 236 yards rushing, 3 TD's. Meanwhile, the Dolphins defense held the same player to 10 rushes for 53 yards, 0 TDs. and the Dolphins beating the Steelers. This year's Buffalo defense gave up 493 yards of offense to the crappy 4-10 NY Jets team and 454 yards of offense to Miami this year. Dolphin RB Jay Ajayi 29 rushes for 214 yards alone. This year's Buffalo defense had some major breakdowns along the way and now need a miricle to make the playoffs. They currently hold the 11th seed, which is last. If not for those two division losses to the Jets, Dolphins the Bills would be sitting in the playoffs instead of Miami. I don't see these two team as being close when the Bills defense does a nose dive in critical games. Another one coming up against the 9-5 Dolphins. We'll see.

WEEK 15 - ALL 22 REVIEW - O LINE/ QB UNFORCED ERRORS
Nihilarian replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This year's defense hasn't beaten a QB with a winning record and the run game stalled in the 3rd quarter against the Raiders...didn't get going at all against the Steelers. LeSean McCoy today 19 rushes for 153 yards, 2 TD's, an 8.1 yard per carry average! LeSean McCoy against the Steelers last week. 12 rushes for 27 yards, 1 TD, a 2.3 yard per carry average! Tyrod isn't the only one to fail against the good teams. The difference is when the team fails he gets the majority of the blame. -
We are officially eliminated!

Put down the crack pipe and watch more games... -
There is a difference between Bills and Dolphins and although both teams have beaten a bunch of bad teams along the way. The Dolphins beat the Steelers in Miami 30-15 and that was against Ben, Bell and they dominated both. The other difference is the Dolphins beat the Jets 2x and Buffalo was owned by the Jets in week two at Buffalo. Fitz throwing for 374 yards and Matt Forte rushing for 100 yards and 3 TD's. 493 yards of offense for the Jets that day. The stats say the Bills have the better defense and yet they were let down in several games by their defense, the Jets, Dolphins are games they should have won and the team is 9-5 instead of Miami. As I recall that Miami game the Dolphins looked to dominate both lines in that game in only allowing one sack and putting up 454 yards against Buffalo. There is more to it than luck. The guy hired to make the defense better only made it worse.

WEEK 15 - ALL 22 REVIEW - O LINE/ QB UNFORCED ERRORS
Nihilarian replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How did he look against the Browns when the run game is working and the defense is playing okay? Clay was the leading receiver with 7 rec for 72 yards, 1 TD. The bigger story is Taylor and his elusiveness just makes plays happen over and over when nothing and nobody is looking open. Watkins, Woods were invisible with only one catch each. Like I've said in other threads, it took Drew Brees two full years of playing before he got really good and I'm not saying that Taylor will ever be as good as Brees. It's just that QB's need playing experience and a talented offensive roster to meet their full expectations. Perhaps if Woods and Watkins stayed healthy and the team found a solid third, fourth receiver we might actually be able to see Tyrod Taylor's ceiling. -
Matt Moore >>>TT too! 4 passing TD's against the Jets Miami at 9-5 has Buffalo and NE to play and could end up 10-6 or even 11-5 should the Patriots win home field and rest their players. Adam Gase >>> Rex Ryan

The Jets and Fish play each other tonight
Nihilarian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Romo will be bust! Why trade for a guy who was never solid in the playoffs and has been out injured most of the last two years. -
Be honest...who wants to lose to the Browns?
Nihilarian replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've changed my mind as the sooner this regime is gone the faster we all get a better look at Lynn as HC and Cardale Jones at QB. We need to see if Lynn can game plan to beat the Dolphins and Jones can throw over the middle with accuracy. Primarily because if either have a bad showing the team can hire a better HC and draft a QB. -
In what order do these four need to go:
Nihilarian replied to jester43's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Probably because the trade for Hughes was made by the idiot GM of the Colts who wanted the last first round pick of Bil Polian out of Indy. Whaley only answered the phone and offered a scrub LBer. Richie Incognito was all Rex Ryan who vouched for him to be brought in and Whaley had his chance the year previous (2014) with Erik Pears at RG who was the worst player in the league at RG. Incognito sat out that entire year because no team wanted him. Lorenzo Alexander again was all Rex Ryan who had wanted him from previous years with the Jets just like he had wanted Tyrod Taylor. It also wouldn't surprise me to hear that Rex Ryan or his brother Rob were the ones who identified Zack Brown as a player they wanted to be signed by Buffalo. How about the signing of LG Chris Williams for 5.5 mill guaranteed who only played a few games before being released or OG Colin Brown who replaced him then being released after 6 games. How about a fourth round pick for RB Bryce Brown who never amounted to anything in Buffalo. The Trade for WR Mike Williams who turned out to be useless or the dumping of WR Stevie Johnson because he didn't run precise routes for EJ. Allowing his rookie QB EJ to start behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league and go into the season with no QB coach or veteran QB on the roster to help guide his rookie QB through a rough first year. Not to mention that his OC was also a rookie in the NFL. How about lucking out that CJ Spiller didn't take that lucrative offer from Buffalo and opted to leave for New Orleans instead? How about Chip Kelly calling the Bills and offering RB LeSean McCoy to Buffalo in a trade? So far how is that big money for TE Charles Clay doing? Doug Whaley has made his share of mistakes so far and many fans give the guy far too much credit when in fact he is 29-32 over four years. It took Bill Polian only three years to go from 2-14 to 12-4.
