We Should Pick Up the Option on Tyrod No Matter What
Blokestradamus replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Proud of the guy today. Body of work is still subpar for what I want to pay a QB for but, damn, that guy impressed me today. He showed me something I wasn't sure he had, a backbone when the **** hits the fan. If he can put 10-12 games a year together similar to that and we find a defensive coach that can actually coach his way out of a paper bag, we'll be okay. Leaning more towards being okay with that option. Maybe I'm just a bit drunk but I gained a ton of respect for him today. -
I'll be thinking about Aaron Williams all game.

The boss did a breakdown of LSU safety Jamal Adams. Without being a spoiler; him good. http://billswire.usatoday.com/2016/12/23/2017-nfl-draft-lsu-s-jamal-adams-scouting-report-fit-with-bills/ -
PFF sack totals are a little bit strange at times. For instance, Kyle and Lorenzo split a sack on Sunday, PFF gives them both full credit for a sack. In a game a few weeks ago, both Mills and Glenn were beaten and their respective defenders met at the quarterback. PFF didn't credit either OT with a sack allowed. From what I can gather, sacks on Tyrod tend to be those decisions where he could throw it away but either runs out of bounds short of the LOS or is tackled in bounds with the same scenario. They don't account for all the sacks against him but that's the majority of them. They're not the most transparent group, just noticing trends when I re-watch and how my takes match up to their data. Through my work with Bills Wire, we get weekly previews on the week's opponent and post-game stats for both teams from the game. From this week as a comparison, PFF has Ryan Tannehill credited with 5 sacks, 2 hits, 2 hurries (although in one less game).

Bucky Brooks: 2016 NFL Draft Do-over
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought preseason showed him getting better with his hands but that didn't last long. He's alright as a rotational player but still a lot of the same Adolphus he was his senior year. -
I know someone who I believe has access to much more than just the Bills-specific data I have access to. Thankfully it's a business perk and not coming out of my own pocket, that **** isn't cheap I'll have a word with him and see if he might be able to shed more light on how the Bills compare to others. Might take a while for a response, being Christmas and all. If I hear back, I'll share what I can.

I haven't seen anything like that for pass protection. That chart is from Jeff Ratcliffe, who works for the fantasy branch of PFF. What I can tell you, having the spreadsheet open, is how PFF attributes the sacks, hits and hurries for the Bills. Cordy Glenn - 1 sack, 15 hurries. Richie Incognito - 2 sacks, 5 hits, 8 hurries Eric Wood - 4 hits, 19 hurries John Miller - 3 sacks, 6 hits, 23 hurries Jordan Mills - 9 sacks, 6 hits, 39 hurries Cyrus Kouandjio - 11 hurries Ryan Groy - 2 hits, 6 hurries Seantrel Henderson - 3 hurries Tyrod Taylor - 13 sacks, 1 hit, 4 hurries LeSean McCoy - 2 sacks, 7 hits, 13 hurries Not a clue how that relates to the rest of the NFL. Overall, they attribute blame for 30 sacks, 32 hits and 152 hurries.

Cardinals Cut WR Michael Floyd
Blokestradamus replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Likelihood is that Bill is just being an opportunist. They had nearly $10m in cap space, still have $8.5m to roll over for 2017. Calculated risk that he might be viable for a few weeks and, whatever issues Floyd has, Bill thinks he's the flawed human whisperer. Whether I think it's the best thing for Floyd or not, can't blame a chancer for taking a chance. -

The cutoff for compensatory picks this year is Antwon Blake with a $1.5m average salary. If Floyd serves time inside and/or gets a league suspension, it's a push to expect him to get that much. Of course, NE has to actually qualify for a comp pick as well (they aren't due one for 2017). -

If I'm ever going to commit a crime, I'm going to make sure I do it to the 'Super Extreme' conditions of the law. The Pats aren't stupid, they knew this existed. It's why he fell so far on the waiver order. They really should have questions to answer for it. It appears Floyd has a problem, he should be getting help, not rewarded with another opportunity. -

PFW: Tom Coughlin the favorite to replace Rex Ryan
Blokestradamus replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's difficult to like it as a fan but this is one of the situations where the guys inside the building know everything and we know nothing. Only Lynn and those around him know his plans for the scheme. -

There's an element of being intrigued by Anthony Lynn and who he really is. I think he's been a positive this year. A few poor in-game/strategy decisions but that's part of the learning curve. The catch-22 - I want him to stay, just not as HC. I'm happy for the Bills offense to be his muse for a couple more years though. Even to the point where I'd relent on objection to Tyrod's option. -

I wonder if they could get Lynn to stay on the proviso of being the likely successor to Coughlin when he wants to retire or take on an executive position. For all the HC talk around Lynn, he's only called plays in 14 games by season's end. I think the jump to HC now would be premature. With 2-3 years experience as OC, working under a respected HC like Coughlin, might serve him better for the long term. -

Very true. Bud Foster is one of my benchmarks for prospects. Play well against that D, you're pretty good. Same with linebackers vs teams like Georgia Tech. Oh, I'm also not being a total fan girl because Taywan Taylor retweeted my piece on him - https://twitter.com/SilentGrind2 -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects

Draft Twitter has gone into the usual race-baiting trends with QB. Apparently Marquise Williams (3 year starter) was better than Trubisky at UNC. @IanKenyonNFL @KeepingItHeel Marquise had 4,053 total yards, 38 TD and led UNC to an 11-3 record. Trubisky had 3,746 total yards, 33 TD led UNC to 8-4 Just going to ignore the whole "he played in two more games" thing, are you Ian? Or that Marquise had like 1000 yards rushing. Or even better: @IanKenyonNFL @FourVerts it's a hurricane game, so this is a bad representation, but just watch the first 5 throws in this game IT'S IN A !@#$ING HURRICANE! Did you expect him to play well? -

Sealed his fate for being moved to guard. I swear that 10 yards took him about a week to cover -
Not a move they can make. Already lost Wood, can't go changing the center again now. Groy does quite a lot for Tyrod, as did Wood, in terms of setting/adjusting protections. Tough to ask him to build a rapport with Patrick Lewis, especially on a short week. For 2017, I'm fine trying Groy at RT in camp. Pretty sure he's had practice reps at RT ahead of Cyrus at some point. He's really surprised me the past few weeks, he's really dug in and earned a chance to fight for a spot. Be that C, RG or RT.
-
The kid said plenty of the right things as far as I'm concerned. Definitely sounds like a more mature Sammy to me.
-
If you're taking someone from the current group and putting them at RT, do it with Groy. He's played tackle before (couple games in college), he's long enough and he's a passable athlete. Don't put Miller there. Anyone watching the Panthers last night saw what a stout RG playing RT looks like.
