  1. Anyone else notice that Henry Anderson just couldn't resist giving Allen a little shove there? This guy....
  2. Normally sure but the Jets run defense is the #1 strength of their entire team. Glad to see them spreading out and going pass-heavy so far!
  3. First 45 seconds of that video hurt (haven't brought myself to watch the end of the Houston game since the day after it happened...it was also the last day I was in Buffalo so emotional all around!), the middle was awesome, and the end with Josh Allen attempting the 'John Brown dance' made me laugh...what a roller coaster, cheers dude!
  4. The Rams seem determined to spend themselves into decline. Talk about a team that seems to disregard the cap and relish the 'Stars and Scrubs' strategy. That being said, they put themselves in a tough spot leverage-wise with that trade. Couldn't let him walk after giving up that draft haul and I'm sure Ramsey's people reminded the Rams front office of that. Money: Ramsey > Tre Talent: Tre > Ramsey Love Tre and love Beane.
  5. Great breakdown of the Jets roster for anyone who hasn't heard this already! Think JM always provides a fair take in his game week analysis
  6. The biggest key to the game has to be getting pressure on Darnold. When he has time to throw, I think he has proven that he can make the most of a bad offense, be accurate, and put up some points. However, when he is under pressure, he is a bottom 3 QB in the league. Also for those who think Josh Allen is turnover-prone, Darnold has 86 turnovers in 53 career games between USC and the Jets. That is MIND-BOGGLING. The *key to the season* is keeping Henry Anderson away from Josh Allen before and after the whistle. Hate that guy.
  7. Heard of him! Pretty sure Jake Kumerow has a better chance of helping this team than Brandon Walton so I like the move! Crazy that in years past, this guy might have had the talent/qualifications to jump straight into our line-up. Now just happy to have another depth piece.
  8. Cheers for the Twitter highlights as always @YoloinOhio! Three things stand out to me here: 1) I know we are only getting the highlights, but Josh's deep ball just looks night and day compared to last year. The touch and trajectory are so much better, looks more like a rainbow and less like a Nolan Ryan fastball. 2) What a sick catch by Smoke here. The one-hand tip to himself... 3) Most surprisingly, I didn't think there was any way Siran Neal could run with John Brown, but he does really well there. Super impressed, I don't think he had that kind of speed when we drafted him. Also, there's no better way to come off looking alright in a highlight video where you just got beat than by busting out a few push-ups LOL. Seriously, I just love the attitude/work ethic of the players and the culture McBeane have built in Buffalo.
  9. Sheldon Rankins used to be a great player, don't think the Bills need another DT though...never heard of Ryan Anderson and the rest of the list is pretty trash. Surprised Rasul Douglas is still playing at all after what Diggs did to him last year...
  10. As a follow-up, it sounds like Blake Cashman and Neville Hewitt are going to be the Jets starting LBs over Avery Williamson which is surprising to me. I haven't seen them in this year's camp, but based on their play last season, we should be able to run and pass on these two. https://forums.jetnation.com/topic/153673-hughes-cashman-and-hewitt-expected-to-start-at-ilb-over-williamson/ Also, an interesting thread about Quinnen Williams' disappointing camp performance for your amusement: https://forums.jetnation.com/topic/153671-connor-hughes-quinnen-williams-finished-training-camp-with-1-sack-2-tfls/
  11. Great thread @Antonio! I've been looking for more Bills vs Jets strategy discussion on here given we're nearly a week away from the season! Offense: As others have said, I think running our preferred '11' offense or even 4 WR sets would work to our advantage. I think the Jets defense (even without Mosley and Adams) is stout up the middle and generally good vs the run so we want to space them out as much as possible and lighten the box/force them into their nickel defense. Running hurry up/no huddle as others have also suggested might limit the effect of BountyGate Gregg's complex blitzes as well. As far as play-calling goes, a pass-heavy game plan with 10+ targets to Diggs in particular seems like the best option. The Jets pass-rush should suffer after losing their Rover (Adams) and I don't believe the secondary has the weapons to match up with Diggs/Brown/Beasley/Knox. To be fair, Ashtyn Davis and Marcus Maye (if healthy) seem to have had very strong camps (McDougal has had more mixed reviews from what I gather), but there should be some soft zones to target and Allen should have some time to sit in the pocket. Defense: I think the key is limiting Crowder first and then Herndon as well. Crowder moved the chains on us frequently last season and I'd want to force Darnold and a different WR to beat us. Our defensive line by committee approach should have the edge on the newly-formed Jets O-line and we'll start to fatigue and dominate them in the 4th quarter. Having spent some time on the Jets Nation forum in recent weeks, it does sound like the Jets are using Bell more at WR so might be something to watch out for but generally I'm not worried about Bell or their run game. I do think Darnold gets into a good rhythm when he has time to throw and can be very accurate in the short-intermediate game, we just have to force him into making mistakes and take away the football. Jets are getting healthier, will be interested to see how many snaps Mims gets and whether he'll be able to make an impact. Week 1 in 2020 after the weirdest off-season ever...I think both teams will look a bit rusty and the turnover battle could be even more significant than usual. However, I think the Bills have the better coaching and the better roster. 24-13 Bills.
  12. Welcome to the forum! It's a good question...I believe Heath Farwell was quoted in a recent interview saying that Taiwan Jones and Siran Neal could be the top gunner tandem in the league. Those two and Robert Foster if he makes the team should be the gunners and jammers on the punt cover/return teams. I know Darryl Johnson was a four phase ST player for us last season and Tyler Matakevich/the newly acquired Andre Smith were ST standouts for their old teams. Not sure where exactly any of those three line up though. Then you have your obvious specialists (Reid Ferguson, Andre Roberts, Tyler Bass, and Corey Bojo). Don't know how much that helped but it's a start!
  13. Genuinely don't know what to think about this...my first reaction was absolutely not interested and don't need his bad vibes on the field or in the locker room. I really liked Singletary in his rookie year and had targeted Moss as a guy I wanted the Bills to draft for months prior. However, the more I think about it: 1) Fournette is a young, talented player whose play has likely suffered from bad players around him and even worse coaching. This Bills offense should be light years better than any he's been a part of before and Fournette wouldn't have to carry the offense on his own (and therefore face lighter fronts). More importantly, we have strong coaching and a positive culture that could handle a move like this. 2) I'm not sure I want Fournette on the Bills, but I definitely don't want him on the Patriots. Bad memories of the Blount years... 3) If Fournette is willing to play on a one year deal for $2 million, then we can cut Yeldon and it's basically a wash. Ultimately, it's up to him and whether he wants to dance around with Cam or win an AFC East title with us. 4) Especially this year under the circumstances, it might not be a bad idea to acquire as much talent as possible because players will inevitably miss games throughout the season. Still don't know if I am interested (I really like the Singletary/Moss backfield) and it would have to be on a bargain deal, but I wonder if we might start to see the Bills take fliers on reclamation projects/unwanted players like the Pats used to. I think we have the leadership and culture to make it work if they genuinely want Fournette.
  14. I've been scouting the threads/practice reports on the Jets Nation forum for the past week or so and while their current injury list is long, it sounds like they are expecting a lot of guys back before the season begins to be fair. Poole and Van Roten are back already, Mims and Desir are expected back by end of the week, Perine's injury wasn't as serious as originally feared etc. The missed reps especially by rookies like Mims and Perine have to take a toll though. And if Maye and Perriman miss Week 1, those would be significant losses for them. With such a weird off-season, continuity is that much more important. Injuries aside, the Bills having the most continuity in the league compared to the Jets' turnover is a major advantage in our Week 1 match-up.
  15. All these reports of our injured players getting healthier/returning to practice mixed with a few Josh Allen deep ball highlights...
  16. They're starting to get a few guys back (Brian Poole), but Marcus Maye and LaMichel Perine both hurt in yesterday's Jets practice. Would be big losses for them as they've both had impressive camps. Add to the injury list that include Mims, Van Roten, Perriman, etc. Despite all the injuries and the reports of mostly poor performances at the scrimmages etc, a decent amount of Jets fans still seem optimistic in beating us Week 1. I think the Bills have the much better roster, but we can't take anything for granted, need to stay focused and start the season off well. Worth reading some of their practice threads, some interesting posts mixed with some funny ones. Need all the football info I can get in this weird limited information pre-season... https://forums.jetnation.com/topic/153557-training-camp-tweets-830-green-and-white-scrimmage-jk-it’s-just-a-practice-edition/page/7/
  17. Agree 100%, you make an important point. One of the biggest things we need to get used to is that this current Bills roster is as talented and as deep as it's been since the 1999-2000 playoff team (we won't discuss the abomination of what ended that postseason run) and Beane is going to have to make some extremely tough decisions on cut-down day. Plans for a potentially reduced cap in 2021 as well as upcoming contract negotiations for Milano/White will have to be considered. The players we release will get picked up by other teams (remember when it was the other way around?), but this is a good problem to have. In making those final roster decisions, guys who have replaceable skill sets found elsewhere on the roster and/or do not have any special teams ability should be in trouble IMO. The key candidates are TJ Yeldon, Duke Williams, Pat Dimarco, and probably Vosean Joseph with the Andre Smith trade. All four guys offer either zero special teams experience or poor ST performance in Dimarco's case and could/should be replaced by Taiwan Jones, Isaiah Hodgins, Reggie Gilliam, and Andre Smith/Corey Thompson respectively who represent cheaper/younger/more versatile options. Beane has actually done a great job of acquiring versatile players who can contribute on ST and at multiple offensive or defensive positions (the offensive and defensive lines in particular are filled with guys who can play at 2+ spots). Get used to it, fellow Bills fans. This roster is more talented than it has been in two decades and *knock on wood* that the season plays out and Allen stays healthy, we'll have an AFC East title, a home playoff win, and we won't remember the guys who got cut this coming weekend. Go Bills!
  18. Tyler Matakevich, Taiwan Jones, Siran Neal, Robert Foster, Darryl Johnson, Reggie Gilliam, Andre Roberts, and now Andre Smith...everyone may not make the final roster, but the Bills are taking a smart approach and trying to build one of the elite special teams groups in the league. The margins for victory are thin and the best teams need to be consistently strong across all three phases.
  19. I think Daboll wants to run even more 11 personnel this year so for that reason and the talent we now have at the position, I want the Bills to keep 7 WRs. However, I'd much rather keep Hodgins than Duke. From the little info we've been given this year, I think it's fair to say they've both made some great plays and battled to a draw. Tie goes to the rookie in my opinion and I value Hodgins' height and 'big slot' potential more than what Duke brings to the table. You also made the case about Hodgins being a sixth round pick. However, this year's WR class was the deepest in recent memory, Hodgins easily would have been a 4th-5th rounder in other years. Also don't forget that he was widely considered to have the best hands in the class and his agility drills at the combine were fantastic for an athlete his size. Nothing against Duke, I like his backstory and was happy when he made the team last season. But we've seen what he offers and I think Hodgins has a great chance to be the better WR for this team in 2020 and in the coming years.
  20. We've all heard the common refrain that Dimarco is a good leader and that McDermott likes him, but as a player, Gilliam seems like the better player already. Sounds like he has made multiple plays out of the backfield in camp and his ST abilities in college particularly at blocking kicks were excellent. Add in the youth and cap savings and I'm hoping we give Gilliam a shot whether that means cutting or IR'ing Dimarco (who in my eyes has been overpaid and has under-produced since he signed with Buffalo).
  21. Great trade for two reasons: 1) Ngakoue goes to the NFC (and I don't think we're due to play the NFC North until 2022, but at least not this year). 2) The Jaguars are even better positioned to get Trevor Lawrence (instead of the Jets). Given their front office/ownership/lack of talent on that roster, they likely won't be a contender even with Lawrence for a few years.
  22. It has been tough on us fans being starved of the usual training camp info/highlights, but hey if the Bills win in Week 1, it will all have been worth it!
  23. Even in a football era where Tom Brady and Julian Edelman exist, Henry Anderson might low-key be my least favorite NFL player ever. Such a dirty player and he seems to get away with most of it. Need our o-line to play with an edge and keep him away from Josh.
  24. His form on the second throw was hard to watch...DOOMED
