I’m sold on Allen and I still think QBs can be great assets. Always be drafting them for value and trade them. I’m surprised more organizations with franchise QBs don’t constantly churn the late round QBs to get better draft capital.

Still lots of talk about Watt today. Almost feel we should pass when he’s not out there to minimize his potential impact. That’s 1st and 2nd down passes.

I don’t have his stats in front of me but from what I saw he looked pretty good. Still pleases as punch with Ed though

Other PFF gems. going into last years draft after signing Kevin Johnson and EJ Gaines (with Levi Wallace returning) and Ed Oliver still on their board when we picked, they said we should pick CB Byron Murphy!!!! this year I checked their first mock draft and they Siam we really need to go CB!!!! i dont know if they aren’t paying attention or don’t know what they’re doing.

No one was calling feliciano a top OL going into the season and there were some doubts on Spain as well after he wasn’t resigned by the titans. Dawkins was coming off a bit so good year. I think our line is above average which is a tremendous improvement and a credit to Johnson. I think I’m ok with Dawkins as a franchise LT but I still have some concerns. Either way resign Spain and see if you can improve anywhere.

I agree it’s not Boy Scouts. I think they are looking for competitors. Josh is probably the best example as that dude will do whatever he can to win. I think they want guys that will putting winning over everything. Outside of that I don’t think they care what a guy does.

If you think of the star dead money then it makes it that much more expensive to retain Phillips. I think they give him a good offer but he ends up leaving for someone that will break the bank. I hope they turn that into a comp pick. I would be happy to pay him stars money if he could keep it up and star didn’t cost money to cut.

We’re not releasing star. It doesn’t make sense. I think you have a good question though. I’m gonna say no but I’m not too sure. He’s been so great for us but I think he costs too much.

I agree it would have been tough to hold onto if he made good contact on the way down (he didn’t completely whiff). I’m hoping Allen saw him at the last second and helped prevent the clean hit. Either way the rip back was strong and Allen held onto that. We need all the ball security we can get with this defense.

IMO the difference is that Brown has had good years in other places. Now that he’s here he’s having a career year. Stevie never really did anything elsewhere. Smoke isn’t succeeding in spite of Allen.

Whew caught up on this gem of a thread. @thebandit27my favorite part from jrober was when he was so pumped to be riding the tannehill wave with his fantasy team. Isn’t he having a career year in efficiency metrics now on his second contract but QBs unlike TEs are done developing after 2 years. were 9-4 and he’s still learning. Let the kid keeping winning and growing. Super interested in how he rebounds again? Kid has shown he can get up from a bad play or game and deliver.

DE is gonna be a need. I think we cut Murphy and hopefully Shaq will take his money (maybe 1.5 mil more). Then I think we sign Ngakoue or Judon. Sorta dont think they extend J. Phillips. If you do FA right you should get a ~3rd round comp pick for him. I would give Liuget J Phillips old deal and then we have a healthy rotation of Star (hes not going anywhere next year), Ed, H Phillips, Liuget. Theres a bunch of UFA that I would resign including Spain, K Johnson, Spencer long, and maybe waddle (might be better for comp picks if you let him walk and while is a quality backup swing tackle he seems replaceable). After that extend as many of Milano, White, Poyer, (maybe) Dawkins as you can.

Go for the 2 point early. Unless you think its easier to convert the two point at the end of the game there is no reason to do it at the end. If you kick the xp then you need to leave enough time for 2 possessions in case your 2 point conversion fails. This leaves ample time for the opponent to score if you do convert your 2 point conversion. If you assume conversion of the 2 pointer is an unrealized risk (to the FMEA SME above) then you would like to have detection of that event (failed 2 point conversion) as early as possible so you can mitigate if needed. If you take preemptive action you allow the opponent an window. The only answer and again its only marginally better is to go for 2 early. The only logical answer for the 2 pointer at the end of the game is that you think itll be easier at that time.

I guess the next step in this discussion is where do you line him up to blow up romans game plan. Are they on their back up center?

I’ve been trying to mention this a lot this week. Shaq, milano, and Edmunds (maybe) have experience against him from his ACC days. His year after the heisman wasn’t too great so maybe they remember how to play him (I think that team didn’t have much talent though).

I am also worried about run defense and thought the cowboys got away from the run for no reason (against the pats too). However I don’t agree Ingram is the most powerful back we’ve seen yet. We played Derrick Henry and that game was close with him toting the rock 20 times but only averaging 3.9 ypc. Also agree that they were searching for their run stuffing DT but disagree if you don’t think it’s Liuget. Him and Harrison Phillips on IR make Jordan Phillips expendable pretty much (give Liuget Jordan’s contract this year and get a sweet comp pick for Jordan).

Oliver had success against him in college (albeit one game) but I think he can do whats needed.

I get what youre saying but I'm not thinking of the Ravens as a typical run offense. Yes weve given up big chunk plays using our standard gap assignments but with the Ravens game its much more assignment in the run game. In this way, sticking your assignment, we may actually be better than against a typical zone rushing attack. I'm sorta just making this all up so anyone with some knowledge please step in here. I would be interested to know how weve done versus power type runs versus zone runs. I know weve been killed on the duo concept all year.

Could argue the opposite. Were treating them like a option college offense and if any team is disciplined enough to beat that I think its our defense. For me its really the offense. I think theyll get 20-25. Can we get 25-30? I'm not sure I see us getting their, but if we do then I'm pretty sure the stars have aligned resulting in a Pats loss to the chiefs.

I think they are nervous in general. I think they know theyve needed blocked punts to win a couple of games and that they are not dominating like they have historically. If I were them I would root for the Ravens cause losing the division is a very real possibility with how theyve been playing lately. Im gonna check the chat out but its probably a very interesting debate for them.

Forgot about Oliver’s draft profile until last week but he definitely plays up to spotlight. In college some of his best games were in the biggest spotlight. In particular I remembered one of the games was the last time he played Lamar Jackson in his heisman year. Country Ed had 2 sacks and three TFL. Hoping he manages to take his games to another level this week.

@daymanPatriots have to lose two more games than we do because the tie breakers in the most likely situation go to them. that said just beat the ravens. If we do that then I think the rest of the stars will align cause the pats look very beatable. Their locker room hasn’t been fun after wins this year and I can only imagine what it’s like this week. Let’s hope the patriot way causes an implosion.

Really hope this injury bug bites NE and they drop two before playing us cause Texans and chiefs aren’t pushovers. If we can magically pull out a W next weekend we would be set up to take the mantle. Probably won’t happen but OMFG it’s not an implausible thought this December!

You’re not letting Murphy or Kroft go this year as that would cost you money (Kroft) or give you minimum savings. I know Shaq is gonna wanna be paid but so many lolz if he thinks he’s getting top 5 money. Even Jordan Phillips probably shouldn’t be top 5 in money. If that’s their line I’m ok with letting them go based on the whole body of their work. Agree mcbeane created this “mess” but your hindsight game is silly to me. A couple of those moves I agree could be seen as letting a good player (Gilmore) but at the end of the day they have gotten us into a really good position for the future. I never felt that way with Whaley. So yeah they tore it down but damn if the rebuild doesn’t look good.

I thought we had adequate tackle depth going into TC. Losing Waddle and Ty is rough, but hardly the worst that could happen (thats losing Dawkins). I think they can find someone that can learn the system and be better than Bates for 6 weeks. We need a back up not a starter so he hopefully shouldnt have to play.
