Great research. I think our run game coming together really insulates us from the 3 and outs we have had historically. If we are in 3rd and short we can convert (KC is terrible in these situations). As for the josh pick, it did happen but after a really terrible holding call the play before wiped out a beautiful scramble. That roughing was the universe righting itself. Same thing this past weekend. Josh got lucky his throw away was caught cause the refs decided to not call the roughing the passer on that play.

He sorta said it at the end but he should’ve lead with it. Never blitz and play coverage. Doesn’t have to be zone, 2 man and 1 robber were great week 5. Will they be this time, I hope. Most worried about the cheetah as we lost tre, little worried how good mahomes has been spreading it around, oddly confident about guarding Kelce which is the thing I most hope carries over from week 5. I think it’s a no blitzes game again. I think blitz rate is inversely correlated with point differential in our last 3 games (small sample size I know). Question is can our pressure rate maintain? If so I think that will get us off the field on a few 3rd and longs. Hopefully steal a possession or two.

I don’t get why folks think he should move to DE. These are the same folks are upset that he doesn’t shed blocks well enough. So the answer is put him closer to blockers? He’s athletic but not in the way to be a great DE.

I was just waiting for someone to point that ALL of the wins were by double digits. While we didn’t have a ton of wins over playoff teams we did some pretty obviously impressive things. The ifs were fifths statement is also funny cause of our one score record being so bad. No way a game like that is purely due to one person. Everyone played great and yes at the most important position we got transcendent play from Josh.

I think we broke DVOA. Not sure there will ever be a higher DVOA for a game. Perfection against what is a really good defense. Just a ridiculous night.

It probably felt like they were effective because every play was effective last night. However I think the formation has been effective the last few games.

Dugger and Phillips are very good DBs, but I agree that losing mills really stresses them. Especially if they wanna play man.

Why are they getting better? They don’t have a ton of cap space and have a lot of starters on defense that are UFA. BB is also not the best drafter. I could pretty easily see a regression next year cause the offense gets a little better but the defense gets a lot worse. That Jonnu contract is gonna hurt.

I actually think he might be a better pass catcher than lee smith. On draft night I though brown could be the smith replacement and after checking his measurements were better than lee smith. I suspect Doyle is also faster. I love that they have moved to getting the best 11 guys out there and if that includes 6OL then so be it. I also have thought Knox has been a much better blocker this year. Particularly the falcons game (granted they are not world beaters).

Not gonna get into the edmunds stuff. You don’t need to feel good about what our OL did in the falcons game, but the Jets have legit talent on the DL. It doesn’t come through in their stats but I feel really good with how the OL handled the Jets DL.

Can you show a consistent team that you’re thinking of? No one was complaining when KC would mess around the first half of a game and then score 21 in a quarter.

It’s KC so I don’t feel great with any defense. If I had to choose any defense to get a stop against KC bills would be my top choice. Name 5 defenses you would rather have than the bills in the situation you described.

I think the OPs point is most salient in regards to QB position. It’s the most important position in the game yet 2/3 AFC selections didn’t lead their teams to the post season despite multiple pro bowl selections at other positions from their teams. The thing to probably remember is when this voting took place we were in a bit of a slump. With hindsight both Burrow and Josh (his running more than makes up for any ground lost as a passer) should be in over Herbert and Jackson (huge error). that and it’s crazy the number 1 defense doesn’t have a pro bowler.

Agree I think re-signings like Levi, McKenzie, Milano, Williams show that value.
