  1. Josh Allen in The Wall Street Journal ... https://www.wsj.com/articles/josh-allen-is-the-nfls-myth-busting-quarterback-11604494800
  2. I “met” Herb Adderley as a boy, living on Auburn Avenue, on Buffalo’s West Side. It was 1972 or 1973. A rabid Bills fan, of course, I somehow found a copy of “Instant Replay”, by Jerry Kramer. If you’re of an age, read it. If you’re of that age, and read it as a boy, it’s with you years later. If you’re among the less fortunate, and no where near that age, the book is probably not for you. The sensibilities, the approach to life, the view of man and his place in the world, will confuse and disappoint you. Martians, or some such .... RIP, Mr. Adderley ... the chain link to men of that era shrinks by one.
  3. I’ll agree when you explain how it was unnecessary ... whatever the heck that means ... by providing the alternative. He was a vector, who intersected another vector, each at speed. Word nine.
  4. Bullseye ...spot on memory.
  5. It was 29 years ago, tonight. My first daughter was born at Children’s Hospital. I presided over a Cub Pack meeting. The game was brutal during the glory years. Happy Birthday, Baby!
  6. Are you sure, Rico? When I see your avatars, I am convinced I saw you and Bart there at 3:45 am dozens of times. You are BOTH early 80s Elmwood Taco iconographs.
  7. Every time I mention the 51-3 game, I add “in a game that wasn’t as close as the score indicated”.
  8. That was the first Raider playoff game. This one was 29 to 23, or so.
  9. I was there. Tunnel end zone. It was cold. Tense game. Steve Tasker, stud kick off return. I remember some DL shooting his mouth off during the week. Wasn’t Howie Long. He finished with no tackles, no sacks, no pressures. Willie Gault, who caught Tasker, had more tackles than the DL. May have been Townsend. .
  10. Foreign powers may fiddle with our elections, but they’d not dare fiddle with our football. ”Comrade, don’t be a fool!”
  11. I’ll definitely be excited when I see it 16 times a year on game day. I’m also excited seeing it 349 times a year on Twitter.
  12. Except for the Jauron part!
  13. One of those “looked good on paper” moments. It truly did. In hindsight, adding John Pitts was the best part of the day.
  14. Send Giselle to a Toronto night club.
  15. Bills v Jets. Namath threw five interceptions.
  16. Wish him well, of course. Kid can ball ... Life gives you delicious nuggets. A 6’3”, 325 lb. man ... named Incognito.
  17. I’m thinking of Tony Soprano, sitting at a sidewalk table in front of Satriale’s Pork Store with Paulie Walnuts and Ralph. I see agita and bile, rising inside him. “You’re gonna let ‘em use your face and you’re gonna give him two sideline tickets”.
  18. I went to Minneapolis, too. What a gracious city. I remember Saturday night. We partied at a “Bills” bar, stayed late, then trotted to a shuttle stop. Imagine our condition. A woman volunteer approached, asked some questions, and told us we’d missed the last shuttle. We looked around, silently, in those pre-Uber days. She talk out her walkie-talkie, strolled around for a few minutes, and said “I’ve got one coming”. A few minutes later, a big shuttle bus pulled up and the four of us climbed aboard for a private twenty minute bus ride to our hotel.
  19. My mom’s small apartment ... Kenville Rd? My wife and our 18 month old and newborn. Years later, life took me to Tampa. I toured The Sombrero with a civic group. At the end of the tour, I walked out to the 38 yard line, looked down at my right foot, and looked up ... to the goal posts. A lifetime is a million moments.
  20. You should’ve gotten four! Style points for H.L. Menken!
  21. Personally, I’m fine. I fly back to Florida next day. But I’m bringing my sons in and one’s in Buffalo. He needs to drive home, post game.
