  1. And, as I always say, the game wasn’t as close as the score indicated.
  2. I stopped at my favorite bar after work and before game time. Time for a few cocktails. I’m so regular that the staff had a Bills Mafia plaque made for me. It’s usually on the bar when I arrive. The key to a gesture like that is that it’s made by others on your behalf. I didn’t ask. I don’t ask. This is Tampa Bucs territory. Grateful … Yesterday, there was no plaque. I had two drinks and an appetizer and prepared to leave. I’d been mulling over asking them to bring it out, but hadn’t. You know, “the key” to a gesture of kindness or recognition is that it’s provided, not sought. ”The plaque, can you bring it out? It’s the Rams on national tv”. They brought it out, I had my last swallow, paid and left. It won’t remain in the closet again.
  3. Sounds like Josh Allen …. inclined to take big swings, but coachable.
  4. Interesting video of him at his camp, advising younger players. He spoke about the advantage of the three point stance on the edge, and mentioned the disadvantages of standing ‘flat footed’ and upright. Now, I’m a fan, but i’m clearly not a tape or an x/o guy. Some of you may know ….. does he like to stand, erect, or get into a 3 pt. stance? My learned board friends will know more than me. My Frazier experience - move great talent around and let the offense try to figure it out. Seize initiative.
  5. https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/10/18/nfl-1987-strike-replacement-players-scab-game-bills-giants-lawrence-taylor-bill-parcells-marv-levy Long read, but worth it. I was there with my wife. Her family skied with the Schlopys growing up. Taylor was a Madden 98 playing against Madden 63s. It was crazy. He was walking around everywhere when lining up on defense. The whole offense pointing and gesticulating in a frenzy. Left end. Right end. Tackle. Nose. Safety. Switch. Switch. Dude played with a Super Bowl motor. No mercy. No let up. The setting was sport, society, economics. Schlopy gets a memory for a lifetime.
  6. I’ll agree with pure passer. The other aspects are my arguments.
  7. Half correct. Marino threw beautifully, no doubt.
  8. I agree with Kirby, but I’d drop Marino from his list. Marino is not Brady, Montana, Payton, Elway …
  9. Add another 10,000 had he not played a decade with two touchdown leads and Thurman Thomas. Kelly was a quarterback. Marino was a passer.
  10. For those younger than dirt … https://taylorblitztimes.com/2015/05/30/the-soul-of-the-game-butch-byrd/ This is a great piece and an even greater video. Ask Joe Namath for the name of his nemesis.
  11. LOVE Fitz, but no. Butch Byrd, yes, yes, yes. What say you about Bobby Chandler, Reggie McKenzie? We really have done it right if you look …. https://www.buffalobills.com/team/alumni/wall-of-fame
  12. https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/patriots/nfl-network-includes-patriots-qb-mac-jones-among-dark-horse-mvp-candidates Well, you asked ..
  13. Signed in to acknowledge. Re-reading you is as worthwhile as reading you. You captured essence looking at wisps of swirling smoke. And miles to go before I sleep.
  14. I’d be interested in seeing Allen vs the opposing QB, home and away. Controlling for stadium and weather. Gut (Im no genius) says he’s similarly better vs opposition. Respectfully, I don’t think it is the right experimental design. Absurd example …. Highmark has alligators and quicksand, played in monsoons. Road games are domes with perfect turf. The key question: is he similarly better, regardless of venue?
  15. I can’t imagine a more embarrassing answer to that question, regardless of honesty or accountability.
  16. I read it differently . A young man, struggling in life like so many of us, was lost under unrelated tragic circumstances. This, to me, is much more powerful and respectful than, say, “NFL QB”, or “former college star”. Dwayne Haskins’ story is try, succeed, try, fail, try … No debate with you. Another perspective.
  17. signed in for this. props.
  18. I didn’t like the conservative play calling on the last possession. Should’ve been 8 for 8 with all the talent he has available.
  19. You make some great observations that go deeper than the original question.
  20. From my seat .. right call in that situation. Style points for guts. That’s how I’d evaluate his seat if I owned a franchise.
  21. At Capital Grille, St John’s Town Center. Drinks on me at the bar. PM me to connect.
  22. St. john’s Town Center - Hyatt Place. Anyone close, PM me and we’ll connect. Drinks are on me! Dinner at Capital Grille .. and they have quite a bar.
  23. I will be there with my daughter. I’ll check back in - love to gather for cocktails. Club East Section 135 / Bills Bench / 35 yard line. I bought my daughter and Allen jersey. She’s more excited than me!
