  1. Except for the Jauron part!
  2. One of those “looked good on paper” moments. It truly did. In hindsight, adding John Pitts was the best part of the day.
  3. Send Giselle to a Toronto night club.
  4. Bills v Jets. Namath threw five interceptions.
  5. Wish him well, of course. Kid can ball ... Life gives you delicious nuggets. A 6’3”, 325 lb. man ... named Incognito.
  6. I’m thinking of Tony Soprano, sitting at a sidewalk table in front of Satriale’s Pork Store with Paulie Walnuts and Ralph. I see agita and bile, rising inside him. “You’re gonna let ‘em use your face and you’re gonna give him two sideline tickets”.
  7. I went to Minneapolis, too. What a gracious city. I remember Saturday night. We partied at a “Bills” bar, stayed late, then trotted to a shuttle stop. Imagine our condition. A woman volunteer approached, asked some questions, and told us we’d missed the last shuttle. We looked around, silently, in those pre-Uber days. She talk out her walkie-talkie, strolled around for a few minutes, and said “I’ve got one coming”. A few minutes later, a big shuttle bus pulled up and the four of us climbed aboard for a private twenty minute bus ride to our hotel.
  8. My mom’s small apartment ... Kenville Rd? My wife and our 18 month old and newborn. Years later, life took me to Tampa. I toured The Sombrero with a civic group. At the end of the tour, I walked out to the 38 yard line, looked down at my right foot, and looked up ... to the goal posts. A lifetime is a million moments.
  9. You should’ve gotten four! Style points for H.L. Menken!
  10. Personally, I’m fine. I fly back to Florida next day. But I’m bringing my sons in and one’s in Buffalo. He needs to drive home, post game.
  11. NO! I bought my plane tickets, today!
  12. Not if she’s on the deed and you’re on the mortgage. Godspeed Mr. Pryor and all stabbed homeowners, renters and people without places to stay.
  13. I generally appreciate Sullivan for coming at stories from other angles. I can read and decide the merit. I’m better off because he wrote and I read. In this case, I’m surprised only that Sullivan expresses surprise at this event. Every NFL head coach is control freak. Every business has emotional interactions in the “are you with us or against us” context at the most senior levels. Did it bleed over into the press, in this particular situation? The press, where everyone’s an independent seeker of great truths and beyond reproach? Yes, Jerry, it did. Did a former wrestler and alpha male in a universe of alpha males swell his chest and lean in? Yes, Jerry, he did. Yawn .... pass the chips. Can’t be his first movie ....
  14. Well, I wasn’t taking salary, structure and bonus into consideration when I used the word “cost”. I should've been clearer. Cost in terms of trade assets and risk to the program was my intended use of the word. You are correct. He’ll be paid.
  15. Spectacular for NE. There is only upside. AB will thrive, or be shown the door without having cost the Pats a penny or jeopardized their culture. The Pats are bigger than AB. The Pats have all the leverage. He’ll walk into the locker room as just another interchangeable part in terms of value to the team. “We won with Chris Hogan. Shut up, work, or go home”. There will be no Gruden pandering. There will be no series of escalating fines. If he gets in the face of Bilichick, 52 guys will kick his a**. He needs them. They don’t need him. Whether he recognizes that or not, I have no idea. He’ll star, or go home without leaving a trace. The Pats are the best organization in four sports. Whether it’s circumstance or genius, we can debate. That they are, we cannot.
  16. What a pandering weenie Gruden is. AB’s problem is not that he’s misunderstood. AB’s problem is that he is understood.
  17. I felt the same way when Marlin Briscoe retired.
  18. Paternity tests for $200, Alex ..
  19. I am! Don’t just lurk ...
  20. I “met” Bart Starr as a boy reading “Instant Replay” by Jerry Kramer. Imagine those titans to a nine year old. Starr was a Brooks Brothers navy blue blazer on that checkered plaid team of all stars and hall of famers. Flustered, one day, in the huddle and with all eyes on him, he told a teammate what he thought of him. He finished with “... and stick THAT in your diddy bag!”. Starr couldn’t curse, yet he never lost the room with the biggest and baddest. It was a different time, and I’m grateful it formed me. Rest In Peace, Mr. Starr.
  21. Best wishes ... truly. Wasn’t EJ one of the initial “buy NFL futures” guys as a rookie? You made a purchase and the value increased or decreased as the player’s career unfolded?
  22. Acknowledgment ... I am not a good looking man at the top of my profession earning millions. That said, here are two dressing rules for all of us. 1). Do not size clothing like you size sausage casing, regardless of physique. 2). Wear a white tee shirt under a white dress shirt.
  23. Logged in just to laugh at this ... understated delivery, timing!
