This thread would be incomplete without mentioning Ilio DiPaolo and his family. The restaurant was part of my stomping grounds in the late 1970s when any school event ended with a trip to Ilio’s. The generous and gracious family and their restaurant was linked to the Bills like Chef’s is linked to the Sabres. This was particularly the case during the Super Bowl years.

Well, Bills surrender points on two long drives to a rookie QB. Special teams kicks to the end zone and mishandles a return. Offense punts, three and out. Cook, four carries and two yards. No fumbles. Oliver injured first play. Martin blasts a punt, though.

Allen is going to have a Barry Sanders, Lawrence Taylor, category HOF induction highlight film. We will all remember each “you gotta be kidding me” play. I understand all of the conversation about Super Bowls, MVP, elite, best, top five, etc. There is no greater “wow” factor Buffalo Bill. Only Bruce can make an argument. I go back to OJ’s rookie year. I want a Super Bowl as much for him as I do for us.

We can count kicks, misses and makes, etc. I won’t be back on the Bass wagon until he hits a couple of winners from a distance. In short, stats are great and translate to points and wins. Does anyone wanna see him line up from 48 yards out with a few seconds left in a playoff game? The problem with his off years is that our confidence is a few big game kicks, and probably a few years, away.
