He was drafted a few picks before Prather. He fell because he was historically small and his 40 was slower than projected. But anyone that watched him in 2023 and 2024 knew he was better than a 7th round pick. His return ability will give him a chance to stick and develop further in the league.

He is just an ok WR is the reason imo. Palmer can separate, but usually they are on longer developing plays like the long crosser from the pats game. He isn’t fast or even quick so it takes a little bit for him to separate with his route running which is good. He also is not much of a RAC threat. So he has a niche role in the offense and Josh prefers to throw it to Shakir who can break a tackle, Kincaid who separates quickly and Coleman who is the open even if not open receiver.

I disagree, because of Josh what gets invested at WR almost always gets paid back with interest. The problem is since trading for Diggs the only significant investment we made at WR is Keon 4 years later after Diggs left. Yes we have signed people like old man Manny Sanders, Samuel, and now Josh Palmer. But there was a reason they were all available as free agents. They are not good. Amari Cooper was basically retired last year when we traded for him and is retired this year. Get serious and trade for a good, non-geriatric WR. Or spend several draft picks filling the room with talent. They won’t all hit but you have to take more than one chance. Beane has failed with that since 2020.

Guess we will see. I don’t think Beane would have a problem making a trade for a WR in the offseason, but mid season I don’t think he will since it hasn’t worked twice now

Olave and Riq Woolen would be the expensive players from a draft compensation standpoint. But both players contract could fit under our cap space. I would rule out adding a WR because the last two times Beane has swung that the results have been poor. Woolen is interesting as Rasul had success being traded here mid year. But with Gairston being a first round pick and Benford extended I don’t think they would trade a good pick for someone who would theoretically be a backup. Shaheed is another popular name. Again should fit well under our cap. He is a true deep threat who lines up outside over 60% of snaps. The reason he may truly be realistic is his return skills which would allow us to cut Coddrington. Shakirs punt catching in the New England game lent to some poor field position early. Beane’s trade for Nyheim Hines was successful as a returner coming mid season so he may be interested in making a similar move. However, it is likely a one year rental as Shaheed will get paid this offseason and it may be in the Jameson Williams ballpark. Not sure Beane would give up say a third rounder to bring him in. Though theoretically you would recoup some of that as a comp pick if Shaheed gets a decent future contract. There may be other players that could be moved, but these are the three biggest ones I can think of.

Happy you know they won’t rectify the lack of receiving talent this year and maybe not until Beane is mercifully gone. In addition to being tight up to the cap, the two times they have tried bringing receivers in mid-season (Coop and Benjamin), it has worked out poorly. So they will be skittish about doing it again. Im not sure any receiver is really going to be available anyway. Maybe Olave? I know you are a Shaheed fan (as am I) - and him being a returner may entice the Bills to try it - but I don’t think he alone can fix the problem…. now if we got both 🫠 It’s very simple though. Your MVP QB gets more out of the talent given to him than your defensive coaching staff. So give him everything and let the offense be great like you said. That we have only marginally invested in pass catchers for Josh is fireable and will be what is pointed to forever if this regime cannot win it all with the best player in the world. I don’t think they can see that outcome as they scramble to plug weaknesses rather than improve our strengths.

Shrug, weren’t going to win them all. Felt like the refs stalled us a lot with questionable, hochuli calls. Pats did a good job stopping the run which makes it difficult for our offense.

Yea for realistic options he would be at the top of the list for me. Not sure Beane is going to give away picks for a WR this year with how rough Cooper turned out coming here mid year. But that he is an excellent returner may make it possible since Nyheim Hines did have some success as a returner here after being traded.

Titans HC has the worst winning percentage of any coach to coach that many games I believe I saw. Fans were chanting to fire him last week. Think he is first to go Daboll should have been fired last year

Interesting I hadn’t heard that if you have any of these quotes. Still bad process to have a backup 2nd year player as the only other QB with a raw rookie QB that needs to learn how to prepare each week to be a good QB. The only other team I can think of with a QB room similar to this was 2012 Washington with RG3 and Kirk Cousins.

No one is disagreeing with that, but their execution of that plan was very bad. They fixed it a bit later in the season when Josh got hurt and they brought in some experienced backups to play and learn from, but by that point the cat was out of the bag and Josh really couldn’t keep sitting once he was healthy.

My friend, Peterman was terrible and had shown it multiple times to that point in his non-preseason career. Not only did they peg him as the starter going into the season, they were so sure it would be ok that they traded away AJ McCarron before the season. They massively missed on that QB decision. Then they had to turn to Josh or risk losing the locker room. And it was the beginning of Josh covering up for flaws of this regime. I still think McDermott is a good coach, Beane an ok GM and both are good enough with Josh to win a Super Bowl. But Josh is the main reason it will happen.

Yea it’s tough to separate things because it has always been Josh, McDermott and Beane. Especially Josh’s rookie year though I think McBeane made a lot of mistakes in handling him. Of course our roster wasn’t good and the assets we did have weren’t put much towards OL or WRs for Josh in 2018. What always sticks with me is that we went into the year with a QB room of rookie Josh and a second year, 5 picks in a half Peterman. That was always inexcusable and showed the brain trusts inexperience. They finally brought in Anderson and Barkley later that year that Josh could learn how to prepare as a QB from and he improved. Basically I think McDermott and Beane have improved in some areas and made some smart moves in their tenure. But Josh being so fool proof is why we are where we are imo.

NFL basically insists on new stadiums as that increases the NFLs valuation. Either an owner has deep enough pockets to build a new stadium on their own or they would need public funds. If they don’t get either I doubt they would get a team. I don’t think the NFL is worried about people choosing the CFL over them or the TV contract money going to the CFL over them haha. CFL is more likely to fold than to be merged into the NFL imo.

Doubt the NFL would be interested. Probably more profitable to grant an expansion team to Toronto and Vancouver and collect the associated fees. IMO they are trying to have it look more like American Football so more Americans will want to watch it on TV.
