I swear McD trotted out "complementary football" after an up-tempo offense scored too quick vs. Cincy, and the defense promptly allowed another 75 yard TD drive and then came out slowed the tempo and went three & out the next two drives. Did not a reporter ask "why they didn't keep their foot on the gas" and McD referenced "Complementary Football"?

Whatever..... what I read and I do agree with the article, but is undeniable is that he has never explained 13 seconds, taken accountability and allowed 12 men to be on the field and lost the Denver game. And yes he has thrown the offense under the bus multiple times this year and then proceeded to back over them all the while praising his defense.

Those year's were great as I don't remember screaming at the TV about decisions and always thought the offense or defense would do something special. Disappointing was "Wide Right" as there was no way the Bills should have lost and I still blame it on that was the year there was only a one week break prior to the SB and the Bills were woefully prepared (like flying to London Thursday night to play Jax). The next three years they really were underdogs to Dallas & Washington & played bad. Then came the late 90's and the prior playoff teams. No one thought they were good enough to win it all, but there were playoffs, until Ralph Wilson decided Rob Johnson should start the playoff game (heck maybe we need the spirit of Ralph talking to Terry about McD😜🤣). It was then too that Chuck Dickerson riled up the fanbase with his criticisms of Flutie. 2021 was the year we really first saw McD's situational awareness and bad game decisions. The Bills were 7-6 and of course lost every close game and finally figured it out until 13 seconds. I canceled my annual SB party I was so upset. This year was supposed to be fun, the playoffs assured and then we'd start worrying about how McD would screw it up, however it is barely December, the playoffs in jeopardy and the issues have McD's fingerprints all over them.

Greenberg - A Jets Fan - Pushing Back Against The Allen Hate
Billsfan1972 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think one had him 7th and almost all behind Burrow, who can too make mistakes and seldom criticized like Allen is. Heck Mahomes has too thrown some awful ints, but that's okay. The thread was Greenberg showing (fake?) disdain that the question was the O/U on Allen Turnovers, as opposed to maybe O/U Combined TD's or 300 yards passing. -

So what???? No one is going to not have him in their top 7 and that is not the point. It is the criticism that is heaped on him that is often unwarrented. -
First a late bye week and you look at the wreck the AFC is right now and you shake your head and think 1-2 wins more and pretty much the playoffs guaranteed if the Bills go 3-2 and what appears not to be a terrible path to get the SB. Instead it is beat KC and got 3-1 down the stretch and have things go their way. What a waste of a season otherwise. And if they lose this week I'll probably be apoplectic.

Again why? The Bills drafted JA and even then it took him until the third year to figure out what he had & this year has hindered him in many way from what I see.
-
Remind me of them again???? Are you going to trot out Culture or Process???? I won't even go back to 13 seconds and the error after error on his watch that was committed to allow KC to tie the game. All I have to do is say he had 12 men on the field vs. Denver knowing on second down they were not trying for anymore yards..... How much more do you need to know?

I'm surprised Mahomes is that close to him. -
Throwback to Another Horrible McDermott Decision

Actually now that my memory was jogged, I remember too afterwards Indy's punter got off a great punt that had the Bills back at their 35 yard line or so, meaning they lost 25 yards and in the exchange and it took a miraculous catch on third down on a long pass to get them into fg range (no given in the snow). McD did everything wrong and somehow they pulled it out when Andy Dalton vaulted them into the playoffs. -

60 too and remember screaming at my TV at the stupidity of that punt. As stupid as McD was for starting Peterman, at that time little did I know his ineptitude when it came to game day decisions. This was a portent of things to come. -

Not necessarily the wrong decisions, however the play call. Sure call a blitz, but how is the defender so flatfooted and no situational awareness (that's not on the coaching)? I remember the Vikings call, but it was a lousy play call (and was an int too returned some 40 yards). That was the play where you have a trick play, up-tempo snap, or funky alignment so the defense is guessing. Against the Jets, why was it deep pass after deep pass. -

Sources say ZERO PERCENT chance McD is fired
Billsfan1972 replied to Brand J's topic in The Stadium Wall
Funny how the worm has turned. In the past, I would post anything questioning McD and watch the emojis add up with X's, Eyerolls, Vomit & Mad and that was a way to keep track of the McD "Truthers" (yes I'm being sarcastic). Just look at some of my threads and the many that piled up if I said anything negative about McD. Now posters are dragging out the dregs of the Bills coaching fraternity and wondering how they'd do with Josh Allen as their QB and the weapons amassed on the defensive side. I don't know if they were good or really bad coaches, just that Buffalo had losing records and most never got another NFL head coaching job. Also know not one of them had a QB who excelled elsewhere too. I've never hated McDermott, just disliked his philosophy, didn't buy into the "Process", hated his indifference to the Offense and thought of him as a tight ass. But as long as they won, which started in 2019 and the with the emergence of Allen all I wanted was a SB. However the in-game coaching mistakes really drove me batty (started in earnest with the Houston playoff game) and it get's worse and worse as losses pile up that can be attributed to late game coaching in particular. Another post highlights last year's KC Game and the late game int. Good pressure and a great play. Thankfully it was early in the drive and the defense was aggressive. Let's give the staff props there. But since then not a single game where we can say the same thing. And now look how those with pitchforks out for McD can post with impunity about McD, and so few left who will defend him, with only a small handful who seem thrilled by this thread and the proclamation by The Athletic that McD is safe. As said I don't care for the most part who is coach (as long as no shady past, questionable conduct, criminal record....) as long as they unleash Allen and bring a SB. to Buffalo. -

How about McD not trot 12 players out on the last play vs. Denver (after 2 timeouts)? Yes McD's fault as he is the HC and this is the simplest of coaching plays. You love to absolve him & the D. Yep the offence was underperforming (you don't think McD played a part?). However the offense left the field the last time they had the ball with leads vs. Philly, Denver & NE. Tied with the Jets, needing a stop against one of the worst offenses in the NFL. Down by a TD or less with time on the clock and one stop from having the ball again vs. Cincy & Jax. -

Just this year needed to turn around 1 game where the coaching failed them. Let's choose the simplest 12 men. How is not McD and the coaching 100% to blame!!!!! The Bills are 7-5 and some wiggle room. Now others will say 50/50 hindsight at the plethora of other examples, but again, do one thing right. There, I'll go for more low-hanging fruit.... Don't let Mac Jones drive 75 yards for a TD. 8-4 and battling for the #1 seed. Name me one good call McD made this year that was the difference between a win and a loss? -

Yes Allen's mistakes maybe primarily on him, but not always. When sitting on the sidelines for 7 minutes, and watching third downs converted and a score, then back on the field and calls you aren't 100% on board with, maybe you're pressing? A wrong route, bad call, told not to run and stay in the pocket..... Beane making trades, signings or draft choice based on the HC's wishes? Dorsey didn't review or discuss the game plan with McD? Complementary football I read as "let the D rest and keep them off the field". Vs. Cincy they carved them up the first drive and instead of the quick paced O, slowed down and then went 3 & out. The D was gassed allowing 14 points the first two Cincy drives and McD wanted rest for them. Pretty sure McD said something to that affect. The team is better due to Allen. I'll die on that hill.🤣 -

Because I'm a Bills fan and regardless of all his deficiencies and blunders, I want the Bills to win the SB. Now you can go through my 4000+ posts and not once have I said the Bills can't win a SB with McD. I think they can in spite of him.😜 -

And don't forget that somehow McD took the #16 Offence in 2016 to one of the bottom feeders his first three years and went his first 48 games without having a qb throw for 300 yards, which in the modern era is a record that will never be touched. Tells you again what he thinks of the Offense. -

No it doesn't. All thumbs😉 I said it over and over that Allen should have started day one or been at worst groomed by a seasoned vet (i.e. like Fitz). The worst was seeing McD doubling down on Peterman. -

No it doesn't. The fact he thought Nathan Peterman was a starting NFL qb says a lot about McD and how heblpoks at the offense and the qb position What no mention of McD???? Really? He's the #1 reason the Bills are where they are.
