Because the playoff result was not unexpected. Even up 13-0 (16-0), the Bills refused to put the Texans away as was McD's coaching style. And then come OT they aloowed an underneath pass to convert a 3rd & 18 (So Bills). This is NE that has looked terrible the past 3 weeks and have toyed with the Bills for years. It would be a terrible loss imo.

Again it is just that it is the Patrs and narrative is there. A loss Sunday and yes it will be a national story and a good guffaw for all non-Bills fans. Because that was the Bills modus operandi the past 3 years with McD. score 14-20 points, relax come the third quarter and hope to hang on. Disappointing as that was, it was not unexpected.

Very simply, the Bills lose Sunday and I will annoint it as bad a loss as any since McD became coach. Forget the blowouts & playoff losses, the Bills can not afford to lose to the Patriots this week. I can't think of a game that will bother me more then if they get beaten by Belichek again.

Why the defense got it's mojo back
Billsfan1972 replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Jets scored 28 points vs. the Broncos (though aided by 3 Ints). Offense has generated 320, 277, 254, 260, 285, 263 & 219 yards (268 avg) in 5 blowout losses and two games withing 9 points. I'd be careful to announce they got their "mojo" back.... -
I like to be entertained too.... I've stated it before, the Bills are my steam since 1972.... Watching them the last three years (2017-19) they have not been a fun team to watch (particularly on Offense). How people continually defend the 30th, 29th & 24th ranked NFL Offense, just amazes me. Add to that one of the easiest 2019 schedules too.

Duck Hodges was in because Kyle Rudolph was injured if I remember. Tennessee was not a good team when they played them early in the season and ended the season 9-7..... Wow also anothe rvictory over an 8-8 team (Dallas) is considered a big one. Miami beating NE last year knocking them from a bye in NE is a signature win. Minnesotta was 8-7-1 the year the Bills beat them..... Sure Atl was 3-0 in 2017...... Let's call that the signature win.....
-
That Tennessee game was a result of 4 missed FG's. Yes it was a nice win, the Defense played well but was game 5 vs. a team at the time that was 2-2. They made the playoffs @ 9-7. If you want to call that a signature win, boy the bar is low. They beat Duck Hodges, who was just terrible. Dallas is a dumpster fire & yes it was Thanksgiving, but again the Bills went into the game with the better record (Dallas was 6-5). Winning a signature game is against an elite team when they are up and ready to play you. Conversely the Bills haven't had too many of those games.

Boy you fans have rose coloured glasses...... It was a penalty no ifs ands or buts and if that happened to a Bill you'd be screaming suspension. You can hear the helmets hit!!! Now conversely one can argue it saved the Bills 7 yards, knocked out a receiver and momentum.

NE this year is not a signature win. Sure get the monkey off their back, but don't call it a signature win. Neither is Arizona, who's a good team & had a great win vs. Seattle. Beat Seattle. Always funny to see the delineation of responses. Those in love with McD, say WC playoffs and Dallas and the rest of us shrug our shoulders. Wins vs. Atl & Minn year one & two were too early in the season against good teams where yep did not know how good they would be. To call win vs. Duck Hodges or a good win vs. 8-8 Dallas is a stretch.

Shaw you write great reviews, but the continual defense of McD get's old. Yep the Bills lost two games and it was bound to happen, but the issue is always I don't see growth from the coach. Just when one get's excited we get a gut punch, which these last two weeks were. The game was somewhat close, but McD didn't do anything to help the team and we see this week after week. What exactly enamours you so much about McD? Please say it isn't the Porcess, discipline and getting the most out the talent..... All are cliches.....

Three Most Likely Outcomes For The Next 4 Game Stretch
Billsfan1972 replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He too tried to shorten the game with KC. First drive was marred by a bad first throw to Beasley and then Brown dropping the third down pass. Second drive first play was as everyone knew it would be a run. Look at the play by play and they ran the ball a lot. There were 2-3 other plays that were key points in the game. Second & 1 or two around midfield and Singletary loses 6 yards & the play at the end of the third on 3rd & 1 and they don't convert. -
From 2018 & 19 seasons. Below it equates to a better outcome going for 2 every time 98.8% vs. 94.1% (over two TD's). So yes it made sense in addition to my scenario that they should have gone for two at 23-16. Over the course of the 2018 and 2019 seasons, kickers combined to make 94.1% of extra point attempts, meaning the Expected Points Added (EPA) for that play is 0.941. During those same two seasons, the NFL's two-point conversion rate was 49.4%, which is an EPA of 0.988.

Three Most Likely Outcomes For The Next 4 Game Stretch

Yes but McD will probably take the opposite tact because his belief in defense first. You're going against the worst pass defense in the league, exploit it. -

I see 4-0, because I'm an optimist. Jets an easy win. NE the Bills get the monkey off their back. Seattle's defense as bad as the Bills & if decent weather I see Seattle losing this one. Arizona the Bills can beat, but their defense needs to be improved by then. If Frazer/McD still haven't figured it out Fitzgerald & Hopkins will have too many easy catches & Murray can run for 80+. I don't think they're that good, but the Bills Defense does scare me. -
Stop it & return to the 60's, where it seems you belong. I have said it plenty of times that watching the Bills was not particularly fun with the 30, 29 & 24th ranked offenses the past three year (and in the bottom half of the leaugue for 20 years). Knowing they couldn't/wouldn't throw for 300 with McD wanting to grind out 17-13 wins playing between the 20's and hoping his D would win a turnover battels was not a winning recipe and heck made for very boring football. Watch any other team with a .500 record those 3 season, and yes the Bills were a hard watch. I watch Football to get excited. I am a Bills fan and seldom watched a fun exciting football game 2017-19.
