After the bad preseason, many were expecting 5 or less wins. I think most of us would agree that the following happened: After the first two wins, there was an expectation shift. Two losses, back to reality. New quarterback, new raised expectations. New QB wins 3 of 4 games in dramatic fashion - even higher expectations. At 0-0 if I was told the Bills would end up 8-8 with an upset over the Packers but miss the playoffs, I would be OK with that seeing it as a step forward. But headed into the bye we were 5 - 3. The definition of what would be a good season had shifted considerably... With very winnable games on the schedule and being the #6 AFC team at the time, Playoffs were the expectation... and we failed to meet that expectation. IMO, I see an improved record, but a team that under performed and failed to deliver when it mattered the most.

Sick of the same playoff teams in AFC
PortlandiaEast replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stinkin frootball... Damn Trom Brany an all his lousy friendds. I agree 100%, I am losing interest earlier and earlier in the season. I was excited to when the pats were 2-2 and on their way down. I think the media ripped them too hard, Kraft didn't like it, then padded the refs pockets to guide the to the top again. Sometimes I feel bad for San Diego... their is a team stuck in playoff mediocrity. I know the bills deserve nothing, but a mention of their name during the "playoff hunt" talks would have been nice. They are ignored and rightly so, but after Houston and Pitt won, they could have gotten a mention as a very possible playoff team... ya know... before they showed their true colors. To piggy back on this, I was really rooting for the Browns to make some noise in the ANorth. I dream of a browns bills AFC championship game. I got a package in the mail from a relative yesterday... it was some Bills gear. Merry Christmas... I sent a thank you card, but i dont know what to do with the items themselves... I wont be wearing them anytime soon. -
This has been a good read. Good contributions to both the for and against sides. I agree that it is extreme to take an incorrect ref call to court. Ref's enforce calls incorrectly all the time. If the court is smart, they will throw this out as to not set a precedent, because if they hear the case and rule to make the change... god help both the sporting and legal world. Courts will be hear 100's of cases (hyperbole) with the minutia of HS sporting events... In my opinion, this is not what our legal system was meant for. But those saying they are suing to get "their way" on the call... I think that is unfair, as their way happens to be the correct call that should have been made (at least thats how the article/rule book read). Again, great conversation on both sides. While is sucks the big one to be on the receiving end of a game deciding call, sometimes you have to think about the cost (time, effort, and $) benefit (justice?) of the fight in front of you and put your resources toward something more meaningful.

I saw a guy get banned once. He went to a fruit market and complained about the taste of the peaches... he got banned and was told to buy his fruit elsewhere. Then he asked his friends to go to the market for him to get him fruit, but the owner knew the guy's standard order. When he realized the banned guy's friends where buying his fruit, they also got banned. Remember that one? hijinx

Does beating Denver mean beating New England too?
PortlandiaEast replied to Security's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could the mods just pin a playoff scenarios thread? It is that time of year... -
Can someone please explain what this post is actually about? What is the OP upset about? (not sarcastic, I really don't understand)

Being a bills fan in New England is so tough... not only do I not get to watch the Bills, i have to constantly listen to Eye-an Eagle. Nice name, moron.

Weekly "Ref's for Bills game" thread
PortlandiaEast replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You could say "Again?" to almost every crew the bills have had... Its a ref rotation. There aren't 50 different crews; of course you get repeats. -
Fined for talking; fined for not talking

As much as I hate the guy, Belichzeck does it best. He give the most bland interviews and say pretty much nothing every week. I hate hate hate him for being our nemisis, but he passively gives the finger to the nfl media, which I love. -
I definitely think the NFL is guided... I think the league 100% favors certain teams over others and promote story lines (Patriots 9/11, Saints Katrina, Harbaugh SB) - frankly I am shocked there hasn't been a Manning v. Manning Superbowl yet. Maybe they ran it by Peyton and he wasn't in favor... I say guided because at the end of the it all the players still have to go out and perform and surely things happen in game that are random. Having said that, I don't think the league is anti or pro Buffalo. They nothing Buffalo, the Bills are an also-ran every year. They can't stop tripping over themselves enough to matter and I don't think that is the NFL has a hand in that at all. It is Buffalo's own football management and staff. "Coaches" that couldn't coach themselves out of a paper bag and more blown draft picks than you can shake a stick at.

Why I am upset but I am not THAT upset
PortlandiaEast replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. I wish Bonjovi & Co. bought the team. They would know what to do. -
I was really looking forward to buying a box of Orton O's...

Whats the big deal? Its the bills! Pegula should just start calling plays. Why not. New rule: No more punting or field goals/PATs for the rest of the season. - It would free up a roster spot because we could let carpenter go. Lets set a record for most 4th down attempts in a season.

Summed up very nicely.

Sum up the 2014 season with one famous movie quote
PortlandiaEast replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty much every ultimate warrior quote can somehow apply... I LIVE FOR ANGER AND FRUSTRATION! COME ON IN WHERE NIGHTMARES ARE THE BEST PART OF MY DAY! NORMAL PEOPLE, PEOPLE THAT WALK THE STREETS EVERY DAY, WE CANNOT UNDERSTAND! -
Sorry to duplicate a post on two different threads, but i thinks its more applicable here. (Should i delete the other post? Mods?) http://en.wikipedia....ki/Walt_Coleman 2002 Vikings v. Packers game[edit] On December 8, 2002 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Packers came from behind to defeat theMinnesota Vikings, 26-22, in a contest in which the league would later admit that Coleman and his crew made nine officiating errors.[11][12] One of the errors included a 28-yard pass interference penalty that was called on Vikings safetyCorey Chavous, which helped the Packers to score their game-winning touchdown.[12] The win helped keep Green Bay in the race for home-field advantage in the playoffs. How does the NFL justify him keeping his job? They don't have to, he is working out perfectly for them.

Mike williams should get his spot on the 53 man roster. -
So graham got more snaps than woods last year? and this year they give hogan/woods/goodwin snaps over williams? Nothing against those guys, but thats marrone saying that williams isnt even good enough to suit up come game day compared to them... these are not all pro receivers here! theyre a good bunch but holy crap... try something new in the RZ cuz our standard stinks!
