  1. Exactly. I prefer this method over the Skins letting Haskins fall to them to 16. Or the Bills trading back to get EJ at 16. I don't know much about him either. Is he more similar to Turbitzky in terms of mobility?
  2. I am a big believer of taking control and drafting the QB you believe in early. If you have two first round picks, regardless of where they are, you take the QB with the first one and the BPA with the second. Cleveland and Buffalo are perfect examples of this last year. Also, I think you need to either trade up for the QB or have an early enough pick like the Giants did that you are confident you will get your QB. I actually don't really like what Washington did. How much are they really all in and believe in Haskins if they were willing to just sit back at 16 and let him fall to them? It is similar to when we traded back in 2013 from 8 to 16 to draft EJ. Clear sign that we don't actually value the QB highly if we are willing to risk losing him. Haskins and Lock could have been available or available still in Lock's case for a reason. Time will tell. Way too early to know. It basically depends on what Allen or Darnold develop into. I wonder how the Giants board ranked Allen and Darnold. I think we have all assumed Darnold 1 and Allen 2 but with Jones being a similar big and mobile QB maybe they had Allen over Darnold?
  3. Maybe so. Perhaps it is just coincidence that neither Rodgers or Big Ben have won or even been back to a Super Bowl since really becoming even more opinionated than they were early in their careers.
  4. I don't recall Big Ben opening his mouth much or at all until well after he was a two time super bowl champion. Rodgers is widely regarded as the best or second best QB playing the game over the last 10 years. He was successful out of the gate pretty much by winning a super bowl in 2010 shortly after he became the starting Qb for Green Bay. Despite that early success he has not even been back to a Super Bowl. And with the recent article that came out that does not shed good light on his personality he may even start to take more heat going forward despite still having a tremendous skill set. Mayfield has been succesful right out of the gate turning the Browns around quickly and winning ROY. Rosen has done nothing. That's going to be a problem in his future if he continues to have an opinion.
  5. I'll take a stab at it. He very well may be very bright and mature for his age. But QBs are supposed to be "boring". Never giving anything with real substance in an interview. Brady is the epitome of this. When does Brees ever give us anything good? He's seems to have an Aaron Rodgers like attitude with perhaps even more opinions on different things. The sooner Rosen's game can rise to his quotes the better off he will be. Mayfield is sort of a similar example. Mayfield has earned a benefit of the doubt to speak his mind since winning ROY.
  6. Those other guys played in the system well and Bill got the most out of them but Brady they are not. I also wouldn't doubt that Bill could turn Rosen into another Cassel or even Jimmy G. Not guaranteed but it could happen. If it did it would not be the end of the world. Those guys are beatable. Brady's the closets thing to not beatable. Heck, imagine Ryan Fitzpatrick playing QB for the Patriots. I would have to imagine Bill would get a whole lot more out of Fitzpatrick than he did Cassel.
  7. A lot of us still were not sold or all in on Allen until he came back from injury last year and went on that six game run that no other QB other than Mike Vick has ever been on. Flipped around his TD:INT and dramatically decreased his sack %. A Qb does need to show some sort of sign of success and improvement for me to get behind them. With regards to Rosen, I am not in the fairest position to judge him since I hardly watched him, but I'm not sure what success or improvement he showed last season other than staying on the field. This is just from looking over his stats. The only improvement i can find for Rosen in his final six games was a meaningless 0.9% improvement in completion percentage. YPA decreased a full yard. TD:INT ratio decreased about 25%. Sack % jumped 4 points. And of course he did not put up vintage Mike Vick numbers in the running game. Basically Rosen gets a pass because his team was dog poop. The offensive cast around Allen is not far off at all. Our number one receiver going into the season was cut for poor performance and currently isn't even on a team despite not even being 30 years old. At no point last year could any of our running backs find space to contribute anything meaningful in the ground game. Can Rosen have a Goff like turn around in Arizona or somewhere else? Perhaps. I doubt it would be overnight like Goffs. I would not hold my breath on it happening at all.
  8. Probably depends on the coach. Rex probably would have signed up for it every year if he could.
  9. Allen missed multiple games due to injury in the middle of the season. We are going to need him to survive better than that this year. To Rosen's credit he took a beating all year long and never came off the field. That is probably actually the single best takeaway from his rookie year. Neither Darnold or Allen were able to do that. Didn't they bring in Bennet this off-season? And before him they had Chris Long. Patriots are a lot of things, but they aren't dumb. If you can help the team they will bring you in regardless of your political beliefs.
  10. My theory is that Brady truly believes his TB12 method or whatever it is. What better way to market it then by playing into his mid 40's. Unfortunately, unless his arm falls off suddenly overnight like Peyton's did, I think we have at least two more seasons of enduring Brady. Also, how much does he truly care about not only being the winning-est QB of all time but also owning all the passing records? I don't think he has even hinted about caring about the stats but I would bet he does care. Just doesn't tell anyone. To do so he will have to outlast Drew Brees by one season. Brees could play for at least two more years. So basically, I don't think Brady is close to retiring unless his game falls apart like Peyton's did. Yep. And we've had the Brady is going to retire soon discussion since like the 2012 season.
  11. Yeah. It was great luck that their QB who was well on his way to winning the league MVP that year tore his knee up. Luck had nothing to do with it. Eagles have been a success the last two seasons. Even if they wouldn't have won a super bowl they still would have been a success the last two seasons. But you believe we are being fooled by grass looking greener on the other side? Beane's one remarkable six win season is better than what the Eagles have accomplished the last two years? You are just messing with us now.
  12. As So Tier pointed out, he isn't even Top 8, Top 9 when you include Newsome. So how is he in the conversation for Top 5? Who care's what the pundits say. You don't get a pat on the back for winning six games in this league. That is not some remarkable achievement. We have fielded a ton of bad teams over the last 18 years or so and despite that, only twice I think we loss fewer than 6 games. Beane might have a different approach than previous GM's and maybe that is what will lead him to long-term success. But in the short term he is no better than any of the other GM's we have had. He's literally had one full season that ended in six wins. All the new free agent pieces are pure speculation as to how they will perform. If we were to get to the playoffs in Josh Allen's second year I would have to say that would be a huge success. No matter how we made it and even if we got our doors blown off in the WC game. Nobody can be realistically expecting playoffs next year.
  13. Thank you! Great list. You obviously know your GM's far more than I or at least took sometime to look into them.
  14. I hear you. Just looking at the short term. The last 3-4 years player personnel has been great for Dallas. Don't know if it is Jerry, his son or someone else but can't argue with that success.
  15. I don't know most GM's by name so probably not but I can try. Bill Belicheck Sean Payton (think he is the GM) Andy Reid ( i think all these coaches are also GM's or have final say) Jerry Jones (guy gets ripped a ton and deservedely so in the past, but Dallas has a heck of a defense now and some nice young talent in Dak and Zeke if the o-line can heal up they will be contenders) Rams GM Browns GM There is six. Without really thinking about it. But can you answer me what he has accomplished? If he is top 5 in your mind without accomplishing anything then it is a meaningless achievement to be in the top 5.
  16. That is also code for not really bringing in anyone with real all-pro level talent. Besides our new center, everyone else is average at best. Brown, Beasely, Kroft, none of these guys were going to be highly paid because they were not highly coveted. It is great that financial we are in good shape. But also, may need that flexibility if these free agents flame out.
  17. If Beane is considered top 5 then it is pretty much a meaningless accomplishment since Beane's accomplishment's thus far are none in terms of W's. The next few seasons and whether we either become a consistent winner or Allen becomes a franchise QB will determine if Beane is a success as a GM. Either one of those happening will make Beane a top GM. Sure Beane was here for a 9-7 playoff year but that was with mostly players Whaley, Rex and McDermott had brought in. Beane's biggest contribution that year was bringing in KB. Not exactly a great move. Was Beane even here for that draft? I didn't think he was.
  18. Way too soon for this thread.
  19. Are those lighting bolts on the sleeve?
  20. True. But Tim Tebow was fiery and competitive too. I'm glad Allen turned a 180 after his injury and started to ball out. Like Moorman4jesus, for me, at the time, Allen was the one QB above all that I did not want the Bills to draft.
  21. Zerovolts with an extra dose of sarcasm. The Dude confused on who's still on the board. I don't remember what I posted but i think it was tame disappointment. As most everyone else, I've done a complete 180. I'd be more interested on what people thought of Allen before he came back from his injury. I didn't really change my opinion until the Jaguar/Miami games after his injury.
  22. So basically you would have roasted him then if you were posting here at the time.
  23. Of course Cam is a good comparison. Right now, Allen's use of his legs is a major part of his game. And a major part of his success. Even in Ben's more youthful and slimmer days he was never a real threat to run in the way Cam and Allen are. And Ben was 62%+ completion his first two years in the league. I think a part of Allen's accuracy issues comes from his use of his legs as a runner. He gets gassed at times. The end of the first Miami game was a perfect example of this. This is something we often see from Cam Newton in games too. That said, I do see Allen as having greater potential as a passer than Cam. But he has to work on it still. And I hope he doesn't stop using his legs because he is terrific threat in that regard. Even if we have to take some of the bad with the good along the way.
  24. He better up that 3.7 ypc Three years in the league and his trend is not good. 2016-5.2ypc 2017-4.1ypc 2018-3.7ypc That is a steep decline for a guy that is only 24 years old.
