  1. That's true. The passing numbers have been going up for nearly two decades. Mobile QB's used to be guys like Vick, Tyrod, RGIII and Kaepernick. Guys that could put up one really good season but never really develop into that pocket passing QB. Jackson is more in the mold of those former QB's. Guys like Herbert, Allen, Wilson, Watson and Murray have the skill level to run like them but have also shown the ability to make far more plays with their arm.
  2. Looking at the here and now, would the Bills be any better off this year with Mahomes instead of Allen? Maybe? No guarantee either way. I'm more than happy to have Allen.
  3. You got it. Vikings only went 8-8 that year too. Sort of like this year with a mix bag of team success for the four players on pace to surpass the 4350 and 300 yard mark. And Culpepper actually went way over those numbers. 4700+ and 400+ and 39 passing TD's. It was a great season he had. Steve Young would have came really close to some of those numbers or even better but he didn't play a full 16 games very often.
  4. Ryan Clark was the player. He almost died. He also had a sister that had sickle cell disease (worse than sickle cell trait). She ended up passing away due to complications of the disease a few years back I believe. The interesting thing about sickle cell is that it was a genetic benefit for most of human history because you were more likely to live longer rather than die from mosquito transmitted malaria in your adolescence. Better to die in your 20's then in your youth.
  5. HINT: Think early 2000's. It was a career year for this player. Never came close to these numbers again.
  6. Through the first 100 seasons of the NFL only one QB has ever topped both 4,450 passing yards and 300 rushing yards. I'll let you guess who. HINT: It wasn't Aaron Rodgers though he came close twice. I know those totals are a little random but I find it interesting that through 100 seasons only one player has put those numbers or better up. And now, at the conclusion of the 101st season we are on track to have four new members of that club. Justin Herbert (even with only 15 games played he is on pace to hit this mark, Josh Allen, Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson. These averages can continue to go down for all four so we'll see where they end up. For now they have fairly comfortable leads. With Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields coming into the league next year, Kyler Murray continuing to become a better passer and the question of whether Lamar Jackson can develop as a passer, we could see this milestone topped by close to 10 players or so in the near future. I've always though it's only a matter of time until a unicorn QB shows up. A guy that's 6'5 with the stature of Big Ben, cannon of an arm, reads the entire field like Brady, Peyton and Brees, has legs like a gazelle and is a tremendous leader. That time might be sooner rather than later. And maybe Josh is that unicorn?
  7. Josh Allen has all the tools to legitimately be the GOAT one day. And I say that with a straight face. I don't know that he'll ever reach that status as it has a ton to do with overall team success and let's face it, the Bills are just a snake bitten franchise. And last Sunday was just another brutal reminder. And of course he'll need to win at least 4 and probably go to 6 just to get in that conversation. That's a tall task for any QB. But perhaps more in reach, we could see Allen put up a GOAT season. Perhaps be the first QB to top 6,000 total yards, 60 total TD's. When Allen is on he is on. And as others have pointed out. He just continues to get better so who is to say he won't be even better 2-3 years from now?
  8. What a bunch of hyperbole on your part. At no point this season has Allen looked like a "mess". And that includes his ho-hum 4 game stretch. He was the best player on the field for the Bills in their loss against the Titans as the entire team around him failed to show up. Kansas City game was his worst of the year but didn't resemble a "mess". Jets game he lead an offense that didn't punt once, completed 70% of his passes and had two TD's taken off the board no fault to his. Patriots game was a windstorm and he was only asked to throw the ball 18 times. The INT was Diggs fault on what looked to be miscommunication. Diggs turned one way the ball went the other.
  9. I also wouldn't discount free agency for the speed role. It would be nice to get a finished product rather than a rookie. And we don't need a big time all-pro talent since we already have that guy in Diggs. Just a one trick pony type. And for once we have a QB and offense that might actually be seen as a desirable destination for a free agent WR looking to get some stats.
  10. I think it is also obvious too that John Brown's best day's are behind him. He's had a rough year with injuries and you don't typically get healthier as you get further into your 30's in the NFL. And being a speed guy and not necessarily a precise route runner guy like Beasley any drop in horsepower could have a larger decline in production for Brown. Beasley is having a career year but he'll be 32 at the start of next season. Given the age of both Brown and Beasley they would be wise to either sign another younger veteran in the 28-29 year range like when we signed Brown and Beasley two years ago or draft a rookie. Davis has been promising this year for a rookie but he doesn't really run the same routes Brown and Beasley do.
  11. Cowherd is really all over the place. He loves Miami. I was surprised he has the Bills one spot ahead of the Fins in his rankings after he spent the last two weeks saying he would "take Miami over Buffalo today". What changed? Did he expect the Fins to handle the Chargers better or did he not expect the Bills to keep pace or outplay the Cardinals? Neither the Fins or Bills games last weekend were really anything unexpecting. He doesn't really ever say anything bad about Allen anymore. What I do notice is he will often just keep him out of the discussion of good young QB's. So then we don't know if his mind is simply slipping and he honestly forgets about Allen or if he purposefully does not include him. It was just last week before the Cards game he mentioned every good and/or promising young QB except for Allen. Mahomes, Watson, Jackson, Murray, Herbert, Burrow and Tua. Honest mistake or deliberate?
  12. I do think this team is good enough to run the table. I see 3-3 being as likely as 6-0. More likely we finish 4-2. But for now I just want to put a beating on the Chargers. We got to keep pace with the Fins and also get that terrible last second loss behind us.
  13. Allen has all the tools to be one of the all time greats. And he really looks like he is on his way. He's like the QB version of the 5 tool baseball player. In terms of a total package as a player I don't think their is another QB in the NFL that has as many boxes checked as Allen. Brains- Check Arm- Double Check Size- Double Check Mobility- Double Check "It" Factor- Check
  14. Yesterday's game was the first in a LONGTIME, if not forever, that I felt like we were 90% likely to score a TD on our final possession. The options were basically Josh is either going to throw a TD or Pick. There was no way Josh was not completing a pass beyond the sticks unless the DB made a good play on the ball. Sucks that we lost but that is an amazing feeling to have for once.
  15. It's time for him to hit the road. His back breaking plays, penalties, drops, fumbles, missed blocks are popping up way more often then his angry runs.
  16. Technically this was the first game all year he threw two Int's. Nobody puts the first pick in the Titans game on Allen. Not exactly reasonable to assume every game we win we will have more than a one score lead in the final minutes. But we have had more than a one score lead in the final minutes in four out of our seven wins this year so that's not bad. New York Jets, Dolphins, Raiders and Seahawks. But some games will be close it's just the way it goes. True. He technically wasn't better at all. Allen 70 QBR Murray 60 QBR. Murray's passer rating was 10 points better but that's entirely due to the final play of the game which was pure luck on Murray's part.
  17. Agreed. Either this game or the KC game was probably his worst of the season. And even with that being the case he still had a 70 QBR in this one. That's pretty freaking good. Murray had a 60 QBR for comparison. The thing that is great is i was pretty confident we would score a TD as we were driving. Getting in FG range is automatic with Allen leading the way. The sad thing was I had never felt so worried about an upcoming a hail mary in all my year of watching the Bills. And that worry proved justified. Crazy feeling and result.
  18. Coming down to the wire. Come on Ravens! Need to get a push on the -1 !
  19. This team needs a new Tight End to take Knox's spot next year and unfortunately a new receiver to take Browns spot. Brown will not be getting any better or healthier with age. A shame all the penalties on this drive. We'll never know if Allen would have pulled this one out.
  20. Was the penalty on Knox that wiped out the 15 -20 yard catch and run by Singletary a good call or did we get screwed? If it was good call and a dumb play by Knox then I am ready to get rid of that bum. The dude makes way more negative plays for us then he does great plays. And when he's not making bad or great plays he's really doing nothing much at all. I still blame him for the playoff loss last year with his non-block.
