If they win, they are almost a virtual lock to make the playoffs, If they lose there is a good chance they don't make it to the playoffs which will force a reassessment of the makeup of this team, the coaching and the general management (aka Beane); could be what they really need rather than surrounding Allen with less than B capable players. close one but the Bengals get a two-score lead in the first half and simply run the Bills D to death in the second half. The best outcome for the future of this team may be to miss the playoffs. They simply don't have the D or O to make a 4-5 game run. That MAY force them to make some drastic changes beginning with dumping all the old/injured players. Yes I know with the cap issues not easy to be done but maybe it will take two instead of one year to get rid the cap headache

Close game - Allen is not the same Allen as the last several years and the O play calling really sucks. The Steelers are going to get lots of yards on the ground and control the tempo of the game. Still the Steelers are as banged up as the Bills, and even with Allen at 75% I think the Bills eek this out 24 -21.

I'm not totally disagree with your take - it is one opton. But wonder if doing the opposite may end up with a longer-term reward. Get a real #1 WR in the draft (of course that's just a matter where they pick and bitt of luck) and get two more O lineman to beef up the O-lne. I think Dawkns is on a down hill trajectory and protecting Allen is the priority for this team. yes, they still won't be able to stop anyone but maybe they can simply outscore them. Plus, Beane and his team are simply not very good at scouting and picking D linemen. Of course maybe the Bills could trade the next three first round Picks for Myles Garret.

It would be a shame to be back in the wilderness again, but this team is simply not built to get to and win the Superbowl. I don't think you can separate Beane from McD so either they both stay or both go. If they do stay I'd like to see the Bills take steps back for the next two years. jettison the players such as Knox and Milano who have huge cap figures but also do not live up to those contracts. The only exception I would make is the O line where it is essential to not only keep what i think is a better than average O line but add to it so Allen is even better protected. Then with a mid-first round pick (with Allen I can't see the Bills ever going 4-13) get a D line man that can actually make a difference (a bit of a dream and always with the draft some luck is involved). The problem with that approach is that Beane isn't exactly hitting on his 1st and 2nd round picks. If they do jettison Beane/MsD (it won't happen as that not something Pegula is likely to do) it would be nice if they took a flyer on one of the wunderkind asst. coaches from other teams but darn if they don't hit that one Allen's career will be totally wasted. No matter what, they absolutely need to change the O play calling - those lateral screens to Shakir are killing this team. It was so sad watching an absolutely fabulous D last night and it wasn't the Bills. One can't take credit for the 2nd half as Mills is a horrible QB.

This D is incredibly bad. Not sure what the solution is but the Bills need a retool including both players and the coaches. Easy to say harder to do when a team us up against the cap. Oh well back to football purgatory for the Bills. Maybe they'll have the D players take a nap at the half with pods next to their cots.
