  1. John Elway concurs.
  2. The screen is a great call against teams that tend to focus on "getting after the QB". I heard Bill Parcells say once that he liked to call screens and draws to slow the pass rush down. That first screen by the Cards worked great because the Bills' pass rushers were keyed on getting after Murray, and I wouldn't doubt that play made them hesitant going forward (especially in the first half). As for "defending the screen", I think it's more about recognition which comes with either experience, or a D coordinator literally telling his D to be aware of it in a particular situation. But, hey, that's just my opinion man....
  3. The roster battle is between Morris and Davidson, not Knox. I used Knox as a measure of what I think Davidson’s receiving ceiling could be, if that wasn’t clear.
  4. It's going to be a tough decision for Beane. They know what they have with Morris, and I'd say he's reached his ceiling. I'd say Davidson's ceiling is unknown at this point, but potentially he can be a better receiving threat than Knox. So, do you weaken your STs and backup blocking TE to take a chance on that potential?
  5. His issue is not talent but staying healthy. Let's see if he can make it through 3 preseason games.
  6. Size, speed, and athleticism. A TD machine in D2. The Vikings took him in the 5th knowing he was raw, and he’s now had a few years to get up to nfl snuff. There is no way he makes it to the PS. tough decision.
  7. Good discussion on Davidson and his battle for a roster spot on OBL today (starts about 6:30 mark). https://www.buffalobills.com/video/obl-training-camp-day-9-reaction-and-takeaways
  8. It’s a timely thread and good topic, as Davidson is/was an under the radar player. As I said, Brady mentioned him a couple days ago which made me look into his background, which is very intriguing. If he shows well in the preseason games, then they will have a much tougher decision to make. Btw, who is speculating about Knox?
  9. As the title states, this thread is about a "camp battle" not "giving him a roster spot".
  10. I have him as my dark horse candidate to make the team. As I said in that thread, he may be difficult to let go if he shows well in preseason.
  11. Since Brady mentioned him today, which prompted me to look into his background, I'll go with Zach Davidson TE as the dark horse candidate. 6'7", 4.62 40 time, has near-NFL punt skills, and has worked on long-snapping. Intriguing player who could be hard to let go if he shows some skills in pre-season.
  12. Maybe they should add him in with the punter competition? Dude has some skills.
  13. Different than the OP's question, but another good ?? is whether or not the team will get > 50? Yes, it would make zero sense to re-sign him and play him <40% of the time. Also, I believe Kelsay was mostly a strong-side LDE, so bad comparison.
  14. Yes, I think Groot is the wild card here. I could see him getting 5 sacks again or 10+.
  15. I won't disagree with the second point, and I agree there are a lot of other variables outside of snap count, but... AJE's stats are pretty consistent the past two years. I'd be willing to make a small wager that he'll get 8-10 sacks this year as long as he gets over 50% of the D snap counts.
  16. The last two seasons AJE got 6.5 sacks per, with snap counts of 36%. I'd expect him to get a little over 50% of the snap counts this year, which would equate to 9-10 sacks. Groot and Miller will easily combine for more than 10. Of course, the assumption is all stay healthy. OVER
  17. Another little interesting (confirmational) comment, on their draft board they write names in Buffalo Bills Blue for players who have that so-called Bills DNA, the leadership and moral values. There were around 25 on this board; and about half of their picks were Blue names (I'd guess the first 3 picks were part of this group).
  18. If all along means after Thomas went, yes. 😎
  19. It was. I had someone confirm what most thought anyway, he would've moved up a few spots to get him had he slipped past Jax.
  20. We need an equivalent to this thread: "Random WR question I think is important enough for its own thread" thread. Or simply a generalized thread on threads with questions, the title of which would be "The Betteridge Law Thread".
  21. Your stats have no context. Almost all of those are from his rookie year 2020; 13 games, 20 recs, 381 yards, and the 3 TDs. He last played in 2022, 7 games, 7 receptions, for 165 yds. We'll never know what could've been for him due to those injuries, but the Bills are taking a flyer, and if it pays off, he can fill the McKenzie role, only Hamler is good.
  22. I gave it a B. It wasn't a "sexy" draft, but it was the type of draft that teams need in order to fortify the roster in places of weakness. If Coleman turns out better than what most expect, and if one of the later picks makes a solid contribution down the line, then I'll put in a "change of grade form" and adjust to an A. If Coleman is meh, then a C.
  23. Wyatt Teller was a 5th too, just to add to the point
  24. One nit to pick. Hamler is not a "hope he develops" guy. His issue is staying healthy. 4.3 speed, with big play capability. He had significant playing time in his first year with the Broncos, then injury issues after that.
  25. Exactly, and who was the last Bills' RB to get a second contract?
