  1. Sounds a lot like Schwartz's scheme: stop the run, and let your front 4 get pressure.
  2. The Bills' O-line really regressed this year across the board, and their higher drafted rookies contributed almost nothing. However, when looking at their draft profiles, it seems that Kuoandjio and Richardson have exactly the type of talent that a Ryan/Roman offense is looking for--road graders. Here's the over view for Kuoandjio from NFL.com: BOTTOM LINE Massive, long-limbed, inconsistent, overhyped college left tackle whose sheer dimensions, raw tools and high ceiling are far more appealing than his snap-to-snap performance at this stage of his development. Has enough length and anchor strength to survive on the left side, though he will never be a dancing bear, and he projects more ideally as a bulldozing right tackle in a power scheme. Richardson is described similarly: BOTTOM LINE Massive road grader with enough mass to re-establish the line of scrimmage in the run game. Versatility to play right tackle adds to value, and he has the physical tools to compete readily in a man-blocking scheme if the game is kept simple. Has a bust factor. A couple of boom-bust possibilities with these two, but one is described as a "bulldozing right tackle" and the other as a "massive road grader." I'm not saying they shouldn't bring in more talent, but maybe with some good coaching the Bills already have the talent they need on the roster?? Henderson, Glenn, Wood, Richardson, Kuoandjio????
  3. While I like the Ryan hire, I think you raise valid concerns. I think the personnel on D is more suited to Schwartz's scheme than the Ryan/Pettine scheme. I was really looking forward to what Schwartz could do in his second season with Kiko back. The Bills don't have a true nose tackle, and that's why they were so poor against the run under Pettine. It'll be interesting to see what they try to do. The one thing I'm excited about is they have to have a better O line coach...
  4. The Beast was hilarious. I recall reading or hearing that He and his buddy decided it was time to get out of Russia and I believe they sort of randomly selected Buffalo. it was clear he would go on to bigger things. hope he does a follow up, as it has the makings of a great story.
  5. Yes, but they couldn't stop the run. They don't have the anchor in the middle. Dareus is not that guy either. The Schwartz D will be even better next year; they'd take a step back in Ryan's D. IMHO
  6. Because the Bills don't have the players to run his 3-4 D.
  7. If they keep Hughes and sign guys like Searcy, Wynn, Bryant, Easely, and Hogan, they aren't going to have a lot of cap space to go after someone like Iupati. Everyone else is possible.
  8. This is the ideal scenario, especially since the Bills don't have the personnel in the front 7 to run Ryan's D. The one thing that I could see Ryan influence is the blitz packages.
  9. Over his last 2 years he has 127 receptions for 1364 yards, and 9 TDs. He averages over 10 ypc.
  10. He's going to reveal that his imaginary buddy Rex who he would meet at Coles' bar was actually Rex Ryan...
  11. You're not going to find a TE in the draft that will contribute right away. I think Charles Clay of Miami is the play in FA.
  12. Hmmm...would be ironic if the Jets now asked to interview the Schwartz, then hired him...
  13. the loss of revis also factored into that. His D relies on CBs who can cover man. Just looked up his career stats and forgot he went down with injury in 2012. Makes sense.
  14. Most important question, who will be the O-line coach?
  15. Assuming they re-sign their defensive players, then all of the unknowns are on O. 1. Can they get good enough play at the QB position? 2. Will Spiller stay if the right coach is hired? Do the Bills even want him? 3. What will it take to get average play from the Oline? 4. They need a threat at TE; can they find and sign a FA? 5. After Watkins, Woods, and Hogan, they still need another talent at WR; draft or FA? (Can Goodwin stay healthy?) I think Whaley/Pegulas can fix everything in 2015 except #1. The only time you can go out and buy a franchise QB, is when someone else thinks that QB is done.
  16. I posted earlier in this thread that stafford's poor play in 5 of 6 of their last games in 2013 was the reason that year. I've read elsewhere that lack of depth and injuries hurt them in 2012, but haven't verified that claim.
  17. The only big whiff on O so far might be Chris Williams. I'd be reluctant to blame DW for anything on O until we see what a competent coach does with this talent.
  18. There are a lot of similarities between Schwartz and belichick other than their results with their first coaching gigs. Both played football at academic-focused institution; both majored in economics; both had early experiences under ted marchibroda; both took bad teams to the playoffs in 3 years that subsequently tanked the next year; among others. While he's my #1 choice, I hope he has learned to rein his emotions in and is a little more mature since the last gig. the exit after the bills' win in Detroit makes that last point questionable...
  19. They want to be involved doesn't mean they will pay. It's good they do though.
  20. His boys now run the company.
  21. Buffal news web site says the boys are interested in helping build a stadium downtown.
  22. The one thing he knows well is how to interview. He helped Petrine get the browns gig too.
  23. As DC suggested, check out the PPP board. I'd suggest skimming a couple OCin buffalo posts to learn a little about poster etiquette...
  24. Never heard of him before. Interesting.
  25. That was also back in the day when Marv wouldn't play rookies too though.
