Bills interested in re-signing Jarius Wynn,Larry Dean
TPS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since the thread was closed, has anyone heard any update on Wynn's situation? -
Any news on Jarius Wynn? I'm surprised the Bills haven't tried to bring him back, as I thought he was very good in relief. Doesn't fit Rex's system?

Now let's seal the deal: Fix the O-line!
TPS replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I am more optimistic about him than most I guess. I was reading a lot of his draft profile info a few weeks ago. Basically he is talented but raw, and many were concerned about his knee, hence his fall into R2. He also ran a slow 40, which I don't think is relevant for OL. I believe that he got by at bama on superior talent, but that doesn't fly in the nfl for a 21-year old. I was happy to see the article posted on TBD, as it tells me he's hungry and disappointed about what happened to him last year. I won't be surprised if he's the starting RT this year. -

This is my line of thinking too, though I think the Bills will get Lupati AND sign Hughes. I think one of either Kouandjio or Henderson will be very good at RT with good coaching. Glenn, Lupati, Wood, Incognito, and Kouandjio will work just fine. -

I disagree. And, I believe it is a lot easier to find an upgrade at G, then it is to find a pass rushing talent equivalent to Hughes. Defense wins championships! -

After they sign Hughes, then I'm in. -
I've been thinking about this issue for awhile, and I can't help but wonder if it was Hackett's fault? Here's my case: I remember Sammy Watkins saying during OTAs and camp that he had to work on his "steps." The passing offense was based on the WRs taking a number of "steps" consistent with the QBs drop (based on 3, 5 or 7 step drop-backs). I don't recall any discussion of this method in year one, and I am wondering if Hackett tried to come up with a fancy new passing system that was too mechanical? WRs and QBs having to focus on "counting" rather than playing. I can't imagine how long it would take to adjust to this kind of system? And, how does one adjust steps when being jammed at the LOS? The fact that all 3 QBs regressed tells me that it was a new system, which I think contributed to regression by the entire offense. I would certainly give EJ a pass (so to speak) on last year, and am very interested to see how he does this year in Roman's system, which hopefully doesn't rely on steps... Regarding the Oline and Marrone, I recall Marrone brushing off questions he got about moving people around during the preseason, trying to find the best 5 players rather than getting his 5 guys early on so they could develop consistency and timing during the preseason. He didn't think it was an issue. I think that WAS exactly the issue. I think the Oline regressed because of the lack of familiarity with who was next to you. My 2 cents.

Old Timers vs. New Dogs in the Bills world and TBD...

Well said. These are not the "same old Bills".... -
Pennington's comments at the NFL combine....
TPS replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not really improving accuracy, his comment reflects the fact that lack of timing and familiarity with your receivers comes across as poor accuracy. EJ has the most comfort level with Woods, and my casual empiricism says that stats probably show a greater level of accuracy with Woods than any other receiver on the Bills. That said, EJ may or may not be an accurate passer, but CP is right that it takes time to develop the chemistry. I hope he gets a chance to prove himself, but I doubt it will happen. -
RAMBO: Why we dont need to sign Searcy
TPS replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He will certainly compete with Duke for the position, and he's got a knack for the ball--not just the one game, he is Georgia's all-time INT leader (tied with someone). Duke might be a better "in the box" safety and Rambo better in deep protection. Rambo needs a larger body of work to really see what he's got. -
Study on Seahawks show 1st round picks are overrated...
TPS replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Biggest difference for the Bills is the Nix-Whaley era has been fairly successful at this, at least since 2011. Starters: Brown 3 Henderson 7 Woods 2 kiko 2 Bradham 4 Searcy 4 Decent depth: Goodwin 3 (I know, questionable on this one) Duke Williams 4 Brooks 4 Hairston 4 Kouandjio and Richardson could make the 2014 class a real success. I have high hopes for Cockrell too. -
That is good stuff. I think the following (really nice) quote relates to Ryan's comment on the Oline being his baby: "Maybe it's because I'm used to watching the NFC West all season and that division has made its reputation over the past couple seasons for being smash-mouth, hard-nosed and merciless in the trenches. The Niners' offensive line in particular is an enviable one, made up of mean human beings who enjoy, nay, relish hitting the people in front of them. There's a psychological edge that you can project when you have a group like this, and it can trickle down to your whole team."

Coaches Who May Be Joining Rex Ryan's Staff ???
TPS replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills will now be a combination of the Jets on D and the 49ers on O, as it's most likely that Roman will fill his staff from his former squad since they have almost all been released. -
NFL Network coverage of the Hiring of Rex

Because we have to wait almost 9 months until the next real game, so we have more time than most to re-hash these same thoughts... -

while he may not be a true nt, I think Charles is ready to break out. For his playing time, his stats were equivalent to Kyle Williams. -
Article: Bills who benefit most from Rex Ryan hire

roman had Vernon Davis to work with. -
Hughes is getting better and better, and he's got an attitude that fits the ryan tude. I'll be very surprised if they don't keep him.

Whose articles - if any - should be highlighted?
TPS replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know GG loves anything that Taibbi writes....hehehe..... Personally, it's more about the article title and blurb that describes it than the source. If it sounds interesting and it's something I haven't read about yet, then I'm going to check it out. -

He said they would have every scheme in the book, in the book, and they would use whatever D was best to attack the opposing team week-to-week. I like that. -
Re #2, at one point he got giddy and said the O-line is what he loves. That's where the aggressive in-your-face attitude will show.

He didn't promise a Super Bowl here. -
How tough is Rex? Told his realtor to find him a house where it snows the most!

TPS replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not so worried about the D after hearing Rex say they will use all formations, that he's not wedded to a specific D, rather what fits his players best. -
Rex&Roman power running game nightmare...looking forward to it! I guess we'll have to wait and see what they think of the talent, but I'm leaning more toward the idea that Whaley's crew is better at knowing talent than Marrone. I won't be surprised if they bring in people to compete, but CK and CR certainly fit the mold of big and nasty.

I'm not going to worry about the O-line anymore after listening to Rex...
