I do not disagree with your thoughts on offense. But, I am lacking any confidence in Rex with game day decisions, discipline and defense. Please do bring part 2 because without it part 1 is very biased because it is just a portion of the team. I am cautiously optimistic for the season and hope I am wrong about Rex.

Unfortunately I agree. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I think Rex's teams are consistently undisciplined. I blame Rex. When he says things to the media I don't think they are genuine regarding penalties. I recall last year after game 1 or 2 he said he was proud of his guys for competing. Days later he said it was a problem when the media says so. I think Rex confuses effort with results. And, may have the wrong impression with efforts from a penalty perspective. You can play hard and tough AND not take penalties.

I think one of two things are going to happen here. 1. Gilmore really wants to be the highest paid CB. And, will wait for free agency. But, that is two years away. One under contract and one if we use the Franchise Tag. Tagging someone back to back seasons is very rare (if it has ever been done). 2. Gilmore is just trying to negotiate the best contract and will sign before the season starts. My thoughts are IF Gilmore is trying to squeeze an extra $5 million out of a contract because his ego wants him to be the highest paid CB it would truly be an ego thing. That is because he is essentially gambling approx. $40 million guaranteed to maybe make an extra $5 for the sake of $5 million or the ego to be the highest paid corner. What if Gilmore gets hurts this year? What if $40 million guaranteed is not on the table anymore. My guess based on this is that Gilmore will resign between now and camp.
