  1. I'll preface this by saying by no means is Sammy a bust and that the trade won't pay off and Sammy not fulfill expectations. But right now this is a disaster.

The trade has been a black cloud over the franchise. In making the trade and the success of other WRS in that class (especially that) it's created an irrational atmosphere of urgency around the organization that led to:

    1. Marrone and Whaley fallout

    2. EJ not being developed properly and then going with Kyle Orton--bc we had an elite D.

    3. A lot of pressure on Sammy (he's clearly felt it---think his insta post last year)...especially as others from that class have become studs

    4. So pressure mounts on Whaley. God only knows how this has impacted him and his decisions.

    5. Marrone quitting leaving us with no QB and no 2015 first round pick making the job unattractive for an offensive Coach to want the job

    6. So we hire Rex likely bc Brandon and Pegula wanted to sell tickets

    7. Team proceeds to get worse. Elite D is now a hot mess.

    8. Sammy gets hurt in 2016 off season and we aren't told about it until after a draft where we got no help at WR and no backup plan for Tyrod. Who btw may also be feeling the pressure with 10s of millions at stake for a contract we probably should never have given him.

    9. Sammy has likely re-injured the foot, they don't want to say so yet bc it's too early in the season to depress the fan base....already missing Dareus and our top 2 draft picks.

    10. The trade was the beginning of this 2 plus year run of overhyped expectations for a team not close to a super bowl and everyone from the owner to the GM to the coach are all selling this "the time is now playoffs or bust" nonsense that actual winning teams don't do. And the fans are losing their minds. And I don't blame them.

    This whole thing looks ridiculous.

He probably is going to need a second surgery. You don't hobble around out there like that bc you're sore. I'm just not buying it; I don't want to buy that bc he's making himself look soft and the team look stupid.

After injuring his foot in week 1 last year Dez came back around week 9 or 10 then they shut him down in week 16 and he needed another surgery. Sammy is probably headed toward that and they all know it. It's deflating.

And that's on Whaley. He knew all this in late April and could have prepared by drafting say Fuller in round 1.

The team could have had Sammy sit out the first month and use September as his camp---Julio Jones warned Dez about coming back too soon. This looks like Sammy did. They should have been extra cautious. Now the odds are increasing he could miss the season and I'm solely basing this on what happened with Dez and Julio.

And all this should cost everyone their jobs.

  2. They do stink, BUT it looks like the entire afce is gonna be 0-1 after this week. So we have that going for us. Which is nice.

Not convinced Baltimore is good. We should be 1-0. This was a huge game vs an AFC team. If we couldn't move the ball on them and Jimmy Smith's bum ankle (way to not catch that and exploit it Roman) how will we do against Arizona Jets Miami St.Louis Cincy Seattle Jax (who gave GB all they could handle) and New England---I'd say all have better D then Baltimore.

    At least we play Cleveland.

Let's keep playing the "on the bubble" game in December tho. That's always fun.

  3. You can blame TT all you want...and he certainly shares the blame. But I'm sorry, you can't win with an oline like this. Just can't.

Whaley has done a good job overall--but does he even know how to scout oline? He wasn't even in charge when we got Glenn which makes his track record in the trenches a total failure.

    11-12' feet in the air?https://youtu.be/AK-KSaRl2i4

Sorry, I remembered it differently, with Watt jumping higher. Watt's fully extended and maybe a foot off the ground, so let's call it 10' in the air. I still think it was a less a bad play by EJ and a great play by Watt.

He sees the blitz coming from his left. I've always thought you throw INTO the blitz. He immediately looks for the safety valve to the right (the RB) rather then hit one of the 2 WRS up top---preferably the one on the outside. It's Sammy and he's wide open.

  5. @JaySkurski

Scott Berchtold says the #Bills don't want play by play or statistical information reported from practice.

I really don't mind this at all.

Mostly because of the people doing the reporting. They don't know what they're looking for---the purpose of the play---even if a pass was thrown in double coverage did Roman tell TT to do it anyway?

And then Rodak tweets "another awful pass thrown into Double Coverage---picked off."

  6. The more I thought about it, I think I understand trump better and how messed up our political system really is.I think trumps views would really lineup as a traditional blue collar democrat or at least 20 years ago would have been a democrat. But the democrat party has been so hijacked and pulled to the extreme left by the regressives there isnt even a resembelence to the traditional democrat party. I think Trump more or less has blue collar democrat policies with a strong sense of nationalism and pride. He appeals to a lot of people who would otherwise identify as being a part of other groups. I think conservatives are pulling for cruz, big government traditional and younger republicans for rubio, commies and hippies are in the bag for sanders, criminals are pulling for Hillary and trump is cleaning up with the rest.Ive had a few scotchs cut me some slack

No don't apologize...this might be the best analysis of what's happening that I've read anywhere.

  7. Ahhh, the Monday morning Jerry Sullivan thread.

You know, it doesn't matter where you live. You don't have to read that stuff....ever, if you choose not to.Fair enough... I simply found this one to be over the top...

OP I completely agree with you. Thanks for the thread.

You folks in WNY don't get as mad as we Ex-Pats over the Buffalo News or WGR. You dont understand that for us those 2 mediums are a way (thanks Internet and streaming on phone) to stay close to our teams. We lose walking into every mall or Tops or Wegmans and seeing Bills stuff everywhere. Or Sabres for that matter.

Little things like wanting to tune into WGR or read the local write up following a Bills win might matter a tad bit more for us bc we are out of the area. Somehow, living here in Northern Virginia I've managed to get my 10 year old to be a huge Bills fan. I know he sees me listening to the WGR app....that's a tiny part of it. Despite all the suckage, he's a Bills fan. It's one of my proudest accomplishments as a Dad. Lol.

And I know I'm rambling here, but I just had to tune in to that douche bags show at 3 today and what's the premise of his opening monologue-----he's disappointed that we are picking 19th; that he's not sure there's any way this team gets better; and because of that, "what am I (its always about him) going to talk about for the next 5 months----drafting a Right Tackle? Awesome."

Yes Schopp. That's what we actual fans of the game (he's not) and team actually want to talk about. Not your candy drafts.

You know what they spent all last off season talking about here in DC? And by the way---how excited should Skins fans have been in August? On the radio here where they actually like their team, they talked about....wait for it....drafting an olineman!

We ex Pats (and Buffalonians) deserve better than the crap in the Buffalo News and on WGR from 3--7. It's embarrassing.

  8. 0-5 record against teams with 10+ wins

    1-5 record against playoff teams.

Bills are very far from winning a playoff game let alone a championship. After 6 years of Whaley's input at a senior level its pretty clear he can't build an average playofff team.

The Jets played 14 games against teams with losing records at the time they played them or the record they finished with. Spare me.

  9. Pettine ran the same scheme as Rex. We piled up sacks. Couldn't stop the run--Kiko at MLB was an issue whether we believe it or not. But we were a good defense.

Why is Rex's D so much worse and why are players complaining about a scheme they ran just 2 years ago with a lot of success? I think that's the better question.

  10. I have my issues with Rex....but to say because the Jets are better and we're worse is proof he's no defensive genius is dumb.

Did Rex have Revis and Cromartie last year? Did he have the offense they have now that can keep the chains moving? Is that all Bowels? Please.

Meanwhile we've lost Kyle, Aaron, Bradham, Aaron, and now Gilmore and Mario is basically checked out probably bc he knows he won't be back. We have a rookie at #2 corner.

But articles and national reaction like this to our success or lack thereof will come with the territory as long as Rex and all his bluster run the show. It's because of that, that when we struggle or play poorly--all eyes on the guy making guarantees. This one is over the top spiteful crap----"proof he's no genius?" Who wrote that? A 16 year old Pats fan?
