No doubt it's Hughes and Dareus. Who else could he be talking about of relevance? You don't say that unless the guys who he's speaking of are "stars."

First time I saw this thread. Wow.
Not having Dareus losing Shaq and Ragland.....and that Sammy was hurt more then they let on.........I think Rex knew they were not making playoffs.
And Whaley probably did have an ultimatum bc Rex was not his hire.

Alex Smith Joe Flacco and whatever body Houston trots out every week are playoff contenders or in the playoffs every year.
Bills fans have let Brady and Bellichick live rent free in their heads for too long.
Tyrod isn't a franchise QB. Who freaking cares. He's our best option for now and we blew that.
Because we're poorly run.

The Bills just went out and gave Tyrod (the QB they don't need bc he's not Tom Brady so he obviously sucks) the best case for a big contract.
But have left in charge the 2 guys (Brandon and Whaley) that drafted in round 1 the guy that threw up all over himself today. The same 2 guys that traded up to get Watkins (who sure, he's a no.1) but could have stayed put and drafted Evans or OBJ.
The same 2 guys that thought Rex could easily Coach our D personnel into a 3-4......nope....too "complex."
So the team seemed so excited that Rex is gone and Lynn will be the guy, they went out and did that today.
That's what I learned.

Accountability:
Tyrod Taylor never publicly complaining that things would be better if we had a healthy Sammy Clay and Woods instead of for long stretches this year our WR core being Justin Hunter Dez Lewis Maglass Goodwin and that time we had to get Percy Harvin off his couch.
But yea. Get rid of him. Keep Dareus.

It doesn't freaking matter. This 90 million dollar stoner's answer should have been "we failed him." Done. Instead the guy who in my opinion is single handedly responsible for the D nose diving (bc he can't stay off the weed) has ZERO business making a comment like that. This group has Ed freaking Reed on staff. The GOAT at safety. And they have the audacity to publicly talk about systems being too complicated. I hate this team. I hate our front office. I want to punch Russ Brandon in the face. I want Dareus traded. 1. Hire new GM/President and fire EVERYONE in the front office. 2. Hire Lynn or Shanahan 3. Trade Dareus 4. Trade Preston Brown 5. Re-sign Gilmore 6. Re-sign Tyrod or let him walk but as new GM I'd publicly state that what the old regime did with him was an embarrassment and that will no longer be happening here 7. So you'd rather hear phony coachspeak from players than honest thoughts? I can't disagree more.
It's obvious that the entire defense (not just Dareus) struggled with Rex's scheme whether it's because they're all dumb or for various reasons. Why should Dareus keep his mouth shut about that?
If that's how Dareus feels then that's what I want to hear from him. I can't stand BS answers we see so often from players and coaches.
People are so emotional about Dareus' suspension. Get the hell over it. It had very little to do with why Rex's defense failed in 2015 and 2016.
Go to the accountability thread and re think things.
This franchise is a clown show. Dareus will be on....how many coaches and DCs now?
He has NO ROOM to talk. He is the antithesis of good leadership.
Don't forget after getting waxed by Pittsburgh he had the audacity to guarantee a win against Cleveland.

Instead of crucifying Dareus based on a out of context snippet, Scott, as someone in the media, should have read the whole piece with Dareus before offering a hot-take. Dareus indicated (I'm paraphrasing) there's a lot of communication that takes place, that they were playing faster in year 2, but that it fell apart when AW got injured. He basically said you can't expect street free agents to make the calls and have it look the same. I'm sure Scott wouldn't have loved the system as much without Jim Leanord, who was with Rex in Baltimore the year before, making the defensive adjustments.

Did the organization actually establish an "Analytics" department in 2013? Or was that nothing more than bluff and bluster? Or is there some "numbers" nerd, neatly attired in a Bills golf shirt and pleated khakis, sitting in some dark room (that once was a janitor's storage room), staring at an Acer laptop (Windows Vista O.S., of course), playing "Spider Solitaire" or, when he's bored, sending interesting "Pornhub" video links to Whaley?

Going well. 1 Coach quit. 1 Coach fired. Drafted 2 QBs. And I guarantee analytics is telling them "hey...if no Tyrod it really doesn't matter." Whatever. My point is I believe Russ fingerprints are all over this mess directly or indirectly (overseeing the stat geeks running this sham).
Organization needs a whole new set of eyes everywhere.
I don't know how if you're a season ticket owner you'd spend one red cent with this guy still employed.

Our D has similar pieces (although many are gutless or stupid) to Seattle. But that's what we can have the makings of here.
Top tier CBS. Good edge rushers. Dareus.
Just need a Safety. Badly.

Same issue when Marrone left.
But a great D Coach will take it. Preferably one that runs a 4-3.

When someone comes up with a better alternative I'm listening. But until then we have to resign him. Period.
Draft one. Bring in a UFA. But he's our starter next September bc there are no better alternatives unless the kid we draft is legit (unlikely).
Hire Lynn. Get a DC that will run a 4-3 with our personnel....which is still after 2 seasons nowhere near able to run a 3-4.
Replacing Aaron Williams is my top priority at the draft. And a RT.

It's actually WR.
I'm not including Sammy in any way shape or form due to the injury. But there have been long stretches this year where our WRS have been guys that wouldn't be on half the rosters in the league.
We actually had Percy Harvin play....in an actual game. That happened.
Who would you rather have?
Shaq Lawson Reggie Ragland or Michael Thomas?
That's on Whaley. Who knew full well at the draft that Sammy had the foot injury.

In fact there is nothing to be optimistic about until we get a QB like Brady...or maybe Rodgers."
