Mike Schopp....back when he started with WNSA (that correct?) during the whole Flutie--Johnson debate, sided strongly with Johnson. As did most of the Buffalo media.
All you need to know.

While that's not a good idea, one does sometimes get the feeling that EJ is too much of a "people pleaser" and wonder if he's willing to get in someone's face - an OLman who totally whiffed, a WR who took a route off - when he needs to
Kidding aside, I do think that's one of, if not the biggest knock on EJ, he needs to learn to be a leader and command the offense. In last week's preseason game, when he was getting shelled by the Browns defensive line, 3rd string o-line or not, he should have been in those guys faces basically screaming at them and telling them how to do their job. Remember how Kelly used to be, he would never have let his o-line pull that crap. The great QB's simply elevate the guys around them. There's still lots of time for EJ, would be great to see it click with him, and if not, throw him on the scrap heap.
What QB do you see do this today? With our tire fire at oline last year, did you ever see that from Orton?
Kelly could do that bc those guys were all great players and had the personalities that responded to that. The kids these days don't appreciate getting chewed out on national TV....let alone by a QB that's done nothing in the league yet. Only prima dona WRs are allowed to chew people out on the sidelines.

My favorite part of the game last night was watching Thigpen playing RB in the 4th quarter and having blitz pick up responsibilities.
But tell me again how EJ had the advantage of playing vs 2s and 3s.
Let him start vs Pitt.
-
Andre Davis looks like a potential stud.
Yes. I said stud.
-
63 Daryl Johnson is a cone. Which is insulting to the cone.
-
If EJ is going to lose this competition then let him go down vs the Steelers 1s in Pittsburgh.
If TT is the man he should have no problem vs the Steelers 2s and 3s.
Still have no desire to see Cassel until the final Preseason game.
-
Maybe EJ is actually developing. Which everyone knew would take 2 or more seasons.
Maybe TT has developed and is ready.
I'm excited about both right now honestly. Well maybe not excited but optimistic.
Cassel is a good fall back plan.
I just don't understand why we're so quick to want to bury EJ. A QB that was always going to be a project. Now he has a legit NFL OC to polish him off.
Whatever...at this point I trust the coaches decision.
-
No need to see Cassel.
EJ first half vs Pitt
TT second half.

He may have created an unnecessary media ruckus with this invite, but he owned up and canceled the party. He threw in that "there were no planned orgies" comment bc he knew what people were saying. But Jerry found that insulting. He answered every ridiculous question like a professional. I actually in reading his responses gained some new respect for him.
But that wasn't enough for Rodak and Jerry. Pressing on with "people want to know" why the confidentiality agreement? Are you kidding me? And Jerry managed to trash the QB situation AND mention his beloved Patriots*.
Of course he got agitated. He did nothing illegal. He's not running for office (reporters don't even grill them like that). He had to be thinking "are these clowns for real?"
-
This is nothing.
And Dareus speaks of it in a positive way and shows NO signs that his style of coaching and what he wants him to do bothers him.
-
Lol @ Rodak "reporting" this like it's some high school kid preparing for the mother of all parties bc his parents are going out of town.
Why do I get the feeling the "context" of his tweets would be a whole lot different if it were Gronk throwing one of these..

Abandoning EJ early in the season was the most competent thing Marrone did while he was here.
It's amazing to see people re-write history and/or just forget ... that one decision set the tone for us going on to have a "successful" season (by our standards).
Facts working against this argument. Kyle Orton was not good. He had moments. But the offense at times LOOKED WORSE than when EJ was in.
We stunk vs Detroit. We stunk vs the Vikings. We stunk vs the Browns. We stunk vs the Packers. All wins.
We stunk vs Oakland. We stunk vs the Chiefs.
Oline play. Coaching.
If both of these things are fixed, whoever the QB is we'll be better.
-
I realize that a position coach isn't the biggest deal, but he was a guy we had big expectations of with respect to the position group we need improvement from most (outside of QB). I'll just be really disappointed if the FO makes a move like this that compromises winning for the sake of PR.
And let's be honest, as far as PR hits go this is pretty minor. Only the most self-righteous of moralizers are going to give a !@#$ about this story once the season starts.
This.

The 2014 Bills offense to me was one of the worst "coached" offenses I have ever seen.
The RBs. All regressed. CJ stunk. Numerous times he missed holes, and his pass pro is garbage.
The oline. From banking on Pears to be your RG. To the cones we had at LG. Poorly coached. They looked overwhelmed on a weekly basis.
The TEs were a laughing stock. Chandler just cannot block. He is totally useless at it. So as a D you knew...oh that Smith guy is on the field---it's a run.
EJ. Was worse then he was his first 5 games in 2013.
I think EJ is going to win the starting job. Just a hunch. I think Roman wants to use him like he did Kap. The biggest thing will be getting him to not fear making plays with his feet. That and well throwing downfield. But I truly believe that problem is as much protection as anything.

You don't know what inherent means?
Actually, in a rare showing of unusual kindness, I'm giving you a second chance to demonstrate that you do.
Explain to me how "equal protection", a concept that originated in 1868, was reinterpreted in 1954, and finally, but certainly without any closure, has been reinterpreted again in 2015; exists as "a permanent, essential, or characteristic attribute".
Go.
For the record, I do not oppose gay marriage. I oppose big government and judicial overreach from the left and right. No one will be able to tell me that those things did not happen in the gay marriage ruling and Obamacare ruling (the absolute worst of the 2).
The 14th Amendments intention was specifically meant to ensure God given rights to newly freed slaves would not be denied. Not to become a green light for the Federal Government to stick it's nose into every single aspect of our lives. The bastardizing of the 14th has done this. It's done some good I'm sure you'll argue.....but it likely would have happened without it.
But in America, #LawyersWin

Please provide an example whereby a marriage license fee is blocking a couple from marriage? Is ther ONE legal example? However, if for example, there is fee that could be a clear and unreasonable impetiment to marriage, then yes, it would unconstitutional. So far, I am not aware that has happened recently.
If you extrapolate the marriage license fee to the polling taxes, or other paid forms of registration to vote, then yes, fees have been used as a hypothetical reason to be deemed discriminatory.
And if it needs to be repeated again, few people are arguing against the concept of giving the same legal rights to homosexual couples. The argument is about the process, where the judiciary just made up a law. There's a long established process in this country where change is affected through legislation. And although at times it's cumbersome and time consuming, the process works well, and Americans accept the legislative decisions. With "evolving" public opinion, gay marriage would have been legislated in nearly every state in short order. But the SCOTUS decision short circuits the natural process, and galvanizes the opposition, which will lead to a worse outcome and further fights in the states.
This is not about a moral position, but about upholding a process that's been enduring in the US. This is what separates this country from the lunatics in Europe where the losing side takes to the ramparts in a hissy fit and gums up the gears. In the US, the losing side accepted defeat and worked the system to get the outcome down the road. And that process of building up the voting blocks is vital to our democratic process.
In this case, the victory was handed down based on an emotional reading of the times, and that is in a stark contrast to how things used to get done. We're beyond the slippery slope where we're moving away from a country of laws.
This is spot on. And I'd add that they "created" a right that just does not exist in the process.

“Professional sports teams still haven’t been able to shake that toxic culture of masculinity.”
So anyone that didn't change all their look at me social media profile pics to a rainbow avi should feel shame? Especially our professional sports teams.
Wow.
What freaking country is this? What in the heck is a "toxic culture of masculinity?" And if it's a problem....then the....opposite of masculine (feminine?) is the proper culture?

These speculations are just speculations. It really is way too early to tell. For example: If Darby turns out to be a stud, Gilmore could be the one. If Mario and Jerry both drop back to OLB, Powell has stepped up, and we end up with depth at LB, it could be Bradham.
I would take either of these options. Glenn came back from the offseason in remarkable shape, according to all of the trainers, and our O-line is probably our thinnest position.
This is correct. We can't invest what would become a ridiculously tipped scale to our D over the O. If Darby proves he's a no. 1 corner, Gilmore could become expendable.
Rex's scheme (I don't think it needs elite LBs) and Whaley's seemingly very good ability to draft LBs may make Brandham expendable.
All this based on if Glenn proves he's at least an excellent to elite LT. We've gone through enough chaos on this oline I don't want to see the good ones get away.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a freaking elite QB to make this all less stressful.

Stud:
Devonta Freeman RB Falcons
Charles Johnson WR Vikings
Travis Kelce TE Chiefs
Duds:
Marshawn Lynch--no Unger; they continue to want Wilson to be more the focal point; look for less carries
Darren McFadden---you better draft Joe Randle to; their oline coach Callahan went to the Skins. No way they're running the ball like they did in '14

On Reddit, there's a long thread asking if the Bills are overrated.
We won 9 games with a god awful oline and bad QB play. And Hackett. And ZERO running game. We beat the Packers. We shut down Manning. We won in Detroit.
We are not overrated. If our oline improves significantly and I believe it can we're making the playoffs and might win 11 games regardless who plays QB.
-
Spiller has no clue how to set up blocks on those screens. His football IQ is so bad.
Worst oline in the last 30 years for this team.
Worst coached Bills offense I've ever seen....including the Jaroun era.
There was far more bad then good from EJ. The OP would brush off the check downs or bad throws as pressure or by design or no other options. That's just not true with all of them and QBS MUST make throws under pressure. And at times he does...there are flashes. I get the sense if he was coached in a manner of "just make plays...move around...have fun" that he'd stop being a robotic mess.
Im not throwing in the towel on a 3rd year QB who's played 14 games bc our other options are very meh. We'll be better if he succeeds and I want to root for him.
Here's to hoping the coaching makes this work.

So much cash tied up between Suh and a mediocre QB. Love it. Great planning, Fish.
If 11th in yards and 12th in TD's is mediocre, please sign me up for mediocre.
So much of it vs garbage teams that mailed it in the last 3 games.
-
If the oline isn't a circus we will get significantly better QB play. Don't care who it is.
-
I don't care who the QB is. If our oline improves to where whatever serious outlets rank it--- say around 15-20, we are going to win 10 games no problem.
I feel much better running behind this current group with these current coaches when we need 1 yard. I'll take running behind Miller or the Bully over Pears all day.
I'm excited for Kwanjo's development. Same Henderson.
I recall some comment made by Morris early in camp when he yelled at Cyrus about lookin like a Venus di mio or something. I just thought....in front of media that was heard. Maybe Cyrus responds better to positive reinforcement rather then constant digs or negative. I bet the whole oline couldn't stand that guy and then were at a point of being over coached with Marrone around them all practice. They always looked poorly coached to me.
