  1. No....didn't forget him.....Just don't see him as Top 8 at this point (although I like the guy a lot). I am also going based on needs for teams in the top 8 and I just don't know where he fits. He isn't going top 5 and San Fran and Oakland need defense more than anything else. So, I didn't forget about him, but he just isn't going in the top 7 picks.
  2. Put it this way.........If Ngata is gone, that means that one of the following players will be available at 8: Bush Leinart Young D'BRICK Hawk Williams Huff We all know that Bush, Leinart, and Young will be gone. So, that leaves D'BRICK, HAWK, WILLIAMS, and HUFF. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE that D'BRICK will be there and Hawk is a top pick as well. That leave Williams and Huff. Williams is the better player so that means that if Ngata is not there, Huff will be the guy that the Bills have to decide if they want. If they choose not to select him, then it would be logical for the Bills to trade down. Really, there are only 3 guys that the Bills have a chance at that are worth it at 8. D'BRICK (but he won't be there), Hawk and Williams. Those are the only 3 that are worth it for us. What do you think?
  3. OK, here is the biggest thing I took out of those interviews....... DEFENSE It sounds to me that Ngata will be a Bill (I am not thrilled with that, by the way....he is overrated). According to Marv, and to Jauron as well, defense is the key and where they are going to focus all of their efforts. Marv said, without a doubt, that he believes DEFENSIVE LINE is the most important part of the team. With that said, look for D-LINE to be our #1 pick (see above). He then went on to say that OFFENSIVE LINE is the second most mportant part of the team. I really believe that he has these 2 backwards, but oh well. They are both important. I get the feeling that they will address this area more through FA. With who.............well, we all know that Bentley and Hutchinson are the big names out there, but the rest of the league is aware of these guys as well. Not going to be easy. But, according to these guys, it looks as though the Defense is their #1 priority. Not a surprise by any means, but I think these interviews are a good representation as to where this team is going. Oh, and Nate will be a Bill.......that is a good thing, but he needs to step it up. I do hope they get a contract worked out though. Avoid the Franchise Tag if possible, but definately use it if need be. Worse case scenerio is that we end up with some very good draft picks. The next several weeks and months will be very interesting!
  4. I was wondering the same thing!! Fairchild is our OC as far as I know. I have no idea where this story from the front page is coming from. I thought it just might be old news and that Chicago is way behind, but they mention PF as our DC. I have no idea what this is all about......unless it would be for QBs coach. That is the only thing I can think of. VERY BAD EITHER WAY! I don't want this guy anywhere near this organization......
  5. Too bad, but we all know he is a lock. To me though, he was a better player at his position that Aikman and Moon......I personally think he was robbed. He will definately get in next year. We love ya Thurman!
  6. I definately do not think that the Jets trading out of that spot would be a good thing. I like you think if that happened, it would be for no other reason than the drafting of the BRICK. It is olmost like we have to hope that they do stay there and choose someone else.......that is our only chance. Even then, there will be teams looking to trade up ahead of us to get him..... As much as I tried to make the case, I just don't think we have a chance to get him. It would be a miracle.
  7. I think all of the concerns about his run blocking are blown a little out of proportion. He is an above average run blocker. The thing is that his pass protection skills are just off the chart! He is SOOOOOOOO DOMINANT in pass protection that you just have to find something that is a "weakness." Well, the fact is that he really doen't have one. His run blocking skills are very good, but pale in comparrison to his pass blocking skills, hence, that is being said to be his weakness as a player can't be perfect. But more is being made of it than necessary. HE IS DOMINANT. And all reports coming from the Senior Bowl practices say the same thing.....He has just been RUNNING OVER AND THROUGH EVERYBODY there. He is said to be the most DOMINANT player that the Senior Bowl and has been the most DOMINANT LT all year. He will be a fantastic player for years to come. That being said, I just convinced myself there is no way he is there at 8. Oh well.........hopefully we can come up with stud player of our own. Just hope it is not that overrated Ngata guy. Talk about not being able to live up the the hype.......I have him as a mid to late 1st at best. I just don't see "star" written all over him. He is just a sleightly above average DT.
  8. Well, as you all know I am VERY high on getting D'Brick in here with our first round pick. He is a dominant pass blocker and a franchise LT for years to come. He has been the talk of the Senior Bowl and from all reports has dominated all of his competition (as expected). The only knock on him at all is the fact that he plays a little light, which will hurt his run blocking some. However, after his performance this year and at the Senior Bowl practices, that doen't seem to be an issue as he is the stand out player there. He is going to be a fantastic player in the NFL for years to come. This is the guy I want and I know many of you want as well. But, he is slated to be a top 5 pick in the draft. That is the problem. And with Marv's history in the draft, we will not be trading up.....or down for that matter. I don't recall Marv making any moves in the draft hardly at all. With that said, our only chance at getting him is at 8. From all the mocks that are out there, there really is 1, maybe 2 teams in our way that have a great chance of getting him. The team of most concern seems to be the Jets at 4. So I took a stroll over to their message board to see what there big draft hype is all about. As expected, BRICK seems to be the favorite as of now. HOWEVER, it is interesting to note that Jay Cutler seems to not only be on their radar, but is quickly gaining some steam to be picked at 4. There is also talk of them trying to trade that pick and move down to 7 or so to take him there (before Detroit). There is also some talk to DeAngelo Williams there as well. Also, there is an outside chance that you may see AJ Hawk go there as well.....seem like Mangini's type of LB and with them running a 3-4 Defense, that could be the choice. BUT, overall, it looks as though BRICK is the favorite to go to the Jets at 4. However, after spending some time there, I believe there might be a SLIVER of hope that the Jets pass on him, leaving there a decent chance he might be there at 8 for us. D'BRICK might be the best player to come out of this draft according to a lot of people. I am just hoping he slides to us. Likely.....no. But, there might be an outside shot. Then we have to worry about Green Bay and even San Fransisco. So, it probably won't happen, but I am hoping the miracle takes place and he ends up here.
  9. If this is indeed true, I am going to post again my idea for DC. As I stated earlier: Well, it looks as though the Bates hiring is far from a done deal. With that being said, I would be a HUGE fan of bringing in Mike Singletary for the job. He is not only one of the best LBs of all time, but one of the best players in the entire NFL ever! PERIOD. He knows defense and what it takes to be successful. He is a great teacher as well. I don't know how many of you guys saw the piece yesterday on the NFL Network where he was coaching at the Senior Bowl, but it was a great illustration of his coaching technique and his ability to teach. He is a great coach. I think if given a chance, he can not only be a fantastic DC in this league, but he may turn out to be a FANTASTIC Head Coach in this League someday! I say forget Bates and bring in Singletary!
  10. They did not give any reasons or information. They just said he wouldn't be back.
  11. Just said it on the 11:00 sports..... Kind of a big loss if you ask me........
  12. Well, it looks as though the Bates hiring is far from a done deal. With that being said, I would be a HUGE fan of bringing in Mike Singletary for the job. 13. You have to remember that some of these coaches would not even be here if it were not for Jauron. Jauron has a ton of respect around the league and most coaches view it as an honor to work with him. If Jauron were not here, who knows if these other coaches even come in here. I mean look at Mangini....Un known and has not earned the same respect. Not only can't he hire a new staff, but all of the current staff wants out! It is impossible to know if Jauron will turn out to be a great coach, but one thing is for sure.....the respect that Jauron has around the league has been paying immediate dividends in hiring a quailty staff. If Bates does end up coming in.......well, I guess you would have to say he has been a great hire for us so far.
  14. As much as I want BRICK, he will not be there at 8. He is just too talented not to be a top 5 pick. Even if the teams that are slotted in there right now don't take him, someone may move up in the draft to get him. There is like a .0000000001% chance that he is there. If he is and we do select him, I will be doing backflips, but I just don't see him getting to our spot.
  15. I don't have any problems with Gallery. But DA BRICK is on another level.....at least when it comes to pass protection. Run blocking is average, but the guy is a wall over there at LT. I have never seen a guy even close to getting by him let alone beating him. His pass blocking skills are just unbelievable.
  16. He is much better than Gallery. It isn't even close. This is the best LT coming out since Bosellie (sp?). This guy will be a STUD at LT for many years to come.
  17. I know Lofton has been the WR coach in SD, but I wish I knew more about his coaching tenure.......I wonder what kind of offense he would run. I believe that Caldwell might be a good choice. I don't know what is philosophy would be and I don't know if we have the talent to run what he may want to do. Would definately be interesting though.
  18. The pickings are getting pretty slim out there. Out of the guys that might be available, who do you guys want to see in here?
  19. This is the guy I have wanted all along. What the guy lacks in size, ha makes up for in technique...... The guy will be a franchise OT in this league for years to come. That being said, we have NO chance at him! He will probably be a TOP 5 pick. Unfortunately for us, we are not choosing in the top 5. That win at Cinci really cost us a lot more than it helped us.
  20. I know it doen't really mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, but I still find it great. Loved the coverage on NFL Network last year and I am really looking forward to it this year. I was just curious how many of you out there are planning on really watching it (IN DEAPTH) like I do and find it interesting.
  21. I can't argue about the ticket prices. Compared to the other franchises, we are very lucky. Plus, there is nothing like being at the stadium on gameday!
  22. I wouldn't mind Backus at all. He is a quality LT. The only thing I might suggest is that we try to do better at LG. Gandy played pretty well this year and might be good at LG. Also, I'd like to see us get DA BRICK if possible (long shot, but would be very good). But I like the idea of Bentley.......That is the 1 guy I have targeted for FA this year. That would be a MAJOR upgrade. The O-LINE is the KEY to building a successful team.
  23. I knew this would happen......and I am glad that I was right. I told you that if you just listen tot he guy and not jump to conclusions, you would actually want to give him a chance. I admit, he wasn't my first choice, but that is OK. It is not the end of the world and surprise, we might even get better!!!! Wasn't it nice to actually listen to a guy that could formulate a sentence without having to think about it? The man actually spoke in complete sentences and he was easy to understand!!! We haven't had that here in 9 years since Levy was coach! Everyone needs to relax a bit, take a step back, and give the guy a chance to succeed. Don't run him out of town before his first day on the job is over. Give the guy a chance and you just may be surprised!
