  1. I'm sure the Buffalo Sportswriters are coming up with some lame excuse as to why Cassel is still the next coming of Kurt Warner. What a horrendous performance. It's laughable that the BN is making such a big deal about the Bills trading away a player who stinks up the league. If they cannot see after today that EJ is head and shoulders above Cassel then theyre living in their own fantasy world. But I guess any reason to trash Buffalo's front office they'll hook onto it. Pathetic
  2. I guess anyone can start a thread about anything.
  3. If you remember it was the Pegulas who fell in love with Ryan after the first interview. It was a group decision not a Whaley decision. Whaley has put too much talent on the field to be considered a failure at his role. We have a ton of talented UDFAs, Taylor is possibly the steal of the offseason and guys like Clay and Harvin (when healthy) have already paid dividends. The coaching staff is ultimately responsible for the teams onfield performance. Coaching has to do with dumb penalties, lack of direction and production on defense, questionable play calling as well as the teams overall preparation on the field. Like another poster stated, Whaley is one of the best GMs we've had in over a decade. He is still young and I'm sure still learning which means his upside is very high. I know everyone is frustrated as am I and the knee jerk reaction is to fire everyone. But in Ryans defense injuries have played a big part I feel in this team not playing to their potential. I know you have to find ways to win despite that but I don't know too many teams who lose their starting QB and best WR and go on winning streaks. Dallas is an example of this. 3-4 is not the end of the world. Giants win a SB in a season which they were 7-8. Our schedule isn't the strongest and we have a lot of teams in our schedule who are experiencing their own struggles. Right now I personally want to see how this team responds after the bye. If they come out and put together a few wins and we're looking at 6-4 then things will be different. That scenario isn't so crazy in my mind.
  4. People hiding behind a keyboard and spewing hate towards athletes is cowardly and disgusting. Some of the comments on there are repulsive and would earn the posters an a$$ kicking if said that in public. Horrible.
  5. While I get his anger towards those that say negative things about his injuries, he has to be the bigger man and take the high road on this stuff. Coming out and telling people to "y'all go work at your little jobs" is immature, arrogant, and not necessary. Sammy is blessed with emense talent and has an opportunity that many dream of having. When you make the money you make and talk about how he needs to be the focal point of the offense then he needs to be resilient to criticism that comes his way. I'm sure Sammy is as frustrated with this injuries as the fans are, and that may have played a little into the Tweet. It also doesn't help that Sammy was hurt on a play in which he wasn't even touched. But as an athlete and public figure you always have to take the high road. I've seen many athletes, mostly the great ones, take the high road to criticism. That's what makes them great. The fans are your customers. They work very hard and earn alot less than Sammy does. They have a right to air their grievances with the product the Bills are putting on the field, or whether they feel a player is "injury prone" or not. To lash out to those who share that opinion is unprofessional and immature. I hope Sammy gets healthy and can finally show why we gave up a first rounder for him. Until then, a little modesty and humility couldn't hurt. Just ask Tom Brady.
  6. Ryan Leaf minus the hype and talent
  7. Bottom line if what Rex/Thurman was doing was creating pressure on the QB and getting turnovers and sacks then no one would be complaining. But when your only rushing 3 guys and QB are seeing No pressure and have all day to throw and we're getting lit up on defense then guys are going to speak out. Players are getting heat from the press. Players hate looking overpaid and overrated.
  8. I agree. Although this is Rex's defense And he has input its Thurman making the calls. For him to admit that he has to see what he's asking his players to do signifies to me that he's not fully aware of what Thurman is asking our front to do.
  9. Rex Ryan speaks very highly of Dennis Thurman, going as far to say one day he will be a Head Coach in the NFL. But Rex's allegiance to Thurman hasn't brought in the greatest results, which makes their relationship a bit puzzling. Thurman, who worked with Rex all the way back to his Raven days, took over as the Jets defense coordinator in 2013 after serving as their DB coach. Since then, Ryan's coaching record is 15-23 (including this year's 3-3 start). For being touted by Ryan as one of the best defensive minds in the league, Thurman's side of the ball ranks in the following categories: JETS 2013 Points Per Game Allowed- 19th 3rd Down % Allowed- 13th Pass Yards Allowed/Game- 22nd Plays of 40+ Allowed- 29th Receiving TD's Allowed- 19th 2014 PPG Allowed- 24th 3rd Down % Allowed- 30th Pass Yards Allowed/Game- 14th Plays of 40+ Allowed- T-27th Receiving TD's Allowed- 30th BILLS 2015 Points Per Game Allowed- 16th 3rd Down % Allowed-16th Pass Yds Allowed/Game- 22nd Plays of 40+ Allowed- 15th Receiving TD's Allowed- 30th Not to mention the Bills currently rank 24th in sacks league-wide. Right now one of the biggest issues the Bills are having is stopping their opponent on 3rd down, pressure on the QB, and big plays. For a former DB coach, one would think that Thurman-led defenses would perform way better in the above categories than they have. But mistackles and our DB's getting eaten up have been glaring issues that need immediate resolution. What really becomes concerning in the lip service that not only Thurman gave, but also Ryan about coming in and playing a defense that plays to the strength of the personnel. Both Thurman and Ryan preached about not being a 3-4 or 4-3 but whatever works to provide maximum pressure up front for our talented front seven. Well it's looking like that was a bunch of BS. It seems Thurman is trying to fit a round peg in a square hole with the studs we have up front, and the results have been horrendous. Hence the reason why opponent QB's are dining in while sitting in the pocket untouched all afternoon and our DB's are getting lit up like Xmas trees. Thurman has been a huge disappointment thus far. Even Ryan went so far after the Cinci game to say he has to see what Thurman is asking the players to do because whatever it is ain't working. Thurman's track record is nothing to write home about since he became a DC. My take on Thurman is he's Ryan's puppet, his clay to mold, and will do whatever he says, which is fine. But at some point Thurman has to show that he can effectively run our defense, which at the moment he is failing miserably at. Ryan came in being labeled a players coach. But right now some highly paid veterans who are being made to look bad by the scheme theyve been asked to run aren't too happy with the coaching staff. Ryan needs to turn that around stat, before he loses the confidence of the defense....and eventually the whole team. Ryan's defenses never had these issues when he was DC. And you can't say that the Bills talent doesn't match up to some of Ryan's best teams in Baltimore. The only difference between then and now is Thurman. The NFL has evolved into more of a passing league, and it seems that both Thurman and Ryan have fallen behind on the times. Its Thurman's job to get this fixed. If he doesn't, Ryan will no longer be looked at as a defensive genius, but rather a defensive has-been.
  10. Did EJ play defense? Offense scored 21 points and would have been more had Miller not held or Watkins got hurt. Not going to win many giving up 34. That's not on EJ
  11. I think Sammy is going to have a lot of attention today and will respond positively. I think they'll limit Shadys carries. If he starts slow we may be in for a long day. Sammy 8 rec 143 yds. 1 TD Shady. 14 carries 57 yds 3 rec 37 yds Bills drop one 23-16
  12. It's tough cuz TT was playing so well. Granted EJ may come in and light it up but it's safe to say that there were a few escape runs that saved our butt by Taylor in which EJ would have been sacked. The fear is EJ brings more of a one dimensional attack that makes it easier for opponents to plan for. With that being said I'm highly grateful that Cassel isn't on the team anymore. Putting him in I think would be a train wreck with his non mobility and inability to stretch the field, especially with our RB core being depleted. We would be dead ducks vs Bungles. If EJ wanted to make his case as starter this is his chance. Best hope is he makes it difficult to put TT back on the field. I really don't want to think of worst case. EJ has to let it loose and show no fear. Or were in serious trouble and will be lucky to be over 500 at the midseason mark.
  13. I knew TT was sore. But out? Ugh!
  14. I like the Bills this week. Bengals coming off a huge win while Bills just eeks by. At home. The later the sea the more likely of a let down.
  15. From NFL.com after today's win: 3. Tyrod Taylor did not have a great game statistically, but emotionally, his ability to come back from a serious hit, miss one play and then nail Chris Hogan on a 46-yard rope to set up the game-winning touchdown. On that drive, he also caught a trick pass in traffic. It's unbelievable how criminally overlooked Taylor was over the years given the absolute lack of quality starters. I think this game more than any other showed that TT has the ability to carry the team on his back despite injuries and lack of production from all other areas in the offense. He willed that game today. THAT'S what makes a great QB. Someone that can carry their team over the threshold even when they don't deserve it. Huge performance by Taylor. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000554448/article/rex-ryans-undisciplined-bills-beat-titans-with-attitude
  16. Gilmore fell in his leg. That was the injury. The receiver ran into Gilmore not the other way.
  17. Ugly but so beautiful. TT will get all the credit on offense on this one. As he deserved. This game will put him on the map more than the Miami game. He literally carried the team on his back. That's when a QB has officially arrived, when they can carry a team to a W by themselves.
  18. When ur stars are out a win is a win. Ugly or not. when they return look out
  19. Time for the D to earn their $$$
  20. Nice one handed catch by TT
  21. TT putting the team in his back
  22. Our DBs are horrendous
  23. TT putting this team in his back.
