  1. Coaching sucks this game. Why didn't they challenge the fumble the browns had on that KO return? And why cant you tell these guys to stop taking dumb penalties. They take them when they have the other team stopped. Why not tell EJ in this game if his first read isn't there to take off with the ball. I thought this guy would be great at picking up yards with his feet but his running ability is just being wasted. That should be making up for his lack of experience.
  2. Why do we lose to the crap browns EVERY time we play them no matter how bad they are? The punter sucks so why don't you just kick it out of bounds or at least get it close. Our coaches are just as stupid as ever. Get up 10-0 and go into a shell trying to run out the clock with 3 quarters left. It's such BS. Play to game like its 0-0 the whole game. When you lose momentum in the NFL the other team can put up quick points. You have to stay aggressive.
  3. Actually, instead of making me wanna hate Vince this makes me pissed at the Bills. How can we let players say that? All I want is for Marrone to somehow change that reputation!
  4. Stevie is like a lot of players on this team. Just good enough to lose with. He shows flashes of being a great player but how many games has he won versus we can point out a drop that cost us a game? Like a lot of Bills he needs to prove he can do it in the 4th quarter in a tight game. Actually, was a perfect reciever for Fitzpatrick in that regard. If he makes that catch we still might have lost but our chances of winning would have been greatly improved. We need some clutch players to show up for this team. Hopefully EJ turns out to be one.
  5. Half a season of Gino and they'll be begging for the Franchise to come back!
  6. Wow! What a game. A couple overall observations that are probably obvious but i need to get off my chest. Smith had a good first half but was AWFUL the second half. A below average QB could have beaten the Pats. I am so glad we didn't draft him. He may have some good plays but is way too inconsistent and inaccurate. Secondly, while good the Pats are also sooooo lucky. This is a game they should have lost 90% of the time. Why do teams always self-destruct against them? I'd like to say they aren't that good this year but, even so, by the time teams stop giving away games to them they will get the kinks worked out, play better, and win those games too. They'll win the division by default again.
  7. Ah, I hate to say it but NE 35 Bills 10. Our secondary without Bryd and Gilmore will get torched.
  8. I agree that Williams is a much better safety. I'd rather start Brooks or Butler at CB where they have made some good plays (in addition to making mistakes).
  9. This is the stuff legends are made of. Can you imagine him starting the first game and betting Brady? It would be like Francis Ouimet winning the US Open!
  10. After the past decade+ I don't see how anyone could expect the Bills to make the playoffs anyway. It will be awesome when it happens but I know I save myself some aggrevation when I don't buy all the hype coming into a new year. Our basic problems this year were going to be QB, depth and LB/DB plus learning new systems. We've already had some bad luck with that. For example, probably the key to the D is Gilmore since we have some weak starters back there. It was going to be difficult to stop the passing game with him back there. Without him it will be very interesting to see if we can slow down teams much. However, this is shaping up to be a year where we struggle early and improve heading into next year which I prefer to the years when we go 5 - 1 and then wind up winning 7 games.
  11. Wow. What an early challenge for the Bills front office and coaching staff. Let's see how good their knowledge is of the league. Just a couple years ago Kolb was a sought after player so he was a reasonable vet to bring in short term. Now they have to get EJ ready and develop another plan B and quick. Such an interesting test.
  12. That's too bad but not all that surprising. I didn't think the knee to the head looked all that bad. RB's get hit all the time like that. But concussions are cumulative and he might just be very susceptible at this point.
  13. I did not know if EJ would become a good player and, of course, do not know yet if he will but one thing I knew before the draft...Gino will never be a good player in this league! I am so glad we did not draft him.
  14. All the marginal QBs have to compete for a spot every year as do rookies. If they guys are good leaders the players don't care which one plays. With injuries today you almost always need two viable QBs anyway. I'm not a Fitzpatrick fan but he wasn't horrible - except in many 4th quarters and Gailey was stupid enough to keep putting the game in his hands. EJ may have beat him out and may not have but at least we'd have two options this year. I can't believe how poorly Kolb has looked and he's so fragile.
  15. He must have been really, really rusty because I saw recievers running wide open when he was in there and he has always been very inconsistent. But I suppose Rogers makes him look like an all-pro.
  16. Actually, on the big runs it was too much attacking. People like Bradham, Hughes and Bryant have to keep the edge safe. They were overpursuing and taking themselves out of the play. Bradham looked horrific. Anyone want to keep arguing trying to enjoy a marijuana habit has no impact on the football field?
  17. Isn't it funny how, in retrospect, keeping Fitzpatrick around one more year to quickly learn a new system and help the young QBs would have been much better than Kolb and current options? And that hit on Kolb to cause a concusion - I'm sorry - that looked like a tap to the back of the head. If that's all it takes he won't last long.
  18. I expected worse but when I reviewed the game it wasn't that bad with a few exceptions. The Bills were driving when Johnson fumbled on the way to a score and then Kolb left. As bad as Kolb is Tuel showed he was a rookie today. We had 3 turnovers and they had 2 but were lucky to recover both. The first half wasn't terrible and then the backups looked poor in the second half. The exceptions: Our 2 CB spot is horrible! Rogers is terrible and McKelvin below average. Gilmore looked like he was giving 90% today and should be fine and Byrd is coming back but who plays the 2nd CB position? I think Brooks is the best of the rest and if Gilmore or Bryd aren't great or get hurt we are in trouble! Defense over pursued on all the big run plays. Bradham was bad, Hughes and Bryant lost contain. Only Kiko looked consistent. Linebacking is still a concern. If I was playing the Bills I would just employ a quick passing attack and use a lot of misdirection plays. If the Oline has one injury they go from being barely adaquate to awful. EJ is the only QB capable of keeping a defense honest or we'll face 8-9 in the box again. EJ somehow not playing like a rookie is the only chance we have to be good. Other than that I don't see too much to worry about!
  19. We'll only keep 6 and the only sure bets I see are Johnson, Woods, Goodwin and Easley (just shown too much). Kaufman will go to the practice squad bc we have height at the TE position and he'll likely pass waivers. Sampson will be cut which is too bad because he showed flashes. That leaves: 1) Brad Smith - I see him as a surprise cut since Tuel is looking so good we don't need the backup QB element nor do we need the wildcat option with this offense plus, even renegotiated, he's expensive. Even though he's a vet he couldn't take Johnson's spot if Johnson got hurt anyway. They have a lot of film on him and he just doesn't usually get very much seperation. 2) TJ Graham - likely the 6th reciever although he wasn't drafted by this regime and is very similar to Goodwin. 3) Hogan - I really like him as some guys just have immeasurables to get open and be useful players. It's trendy to look for that next Wes Walker and our offense is friendly to one. 4) Rogers - To me, he'll always have a thousand dollar body and a ten cent head on his shoulders. Has repeated many mistakes and I don't know if he puts enough effort into blocking. He has so many red flags I wouldn't worry if someone else picked him up. I think he needs a lot of development time and odds are he'll never mature quickly enough to make it. So I think only two of these four stay and it depends largely on what Rogers is doing day-in day-out behind the scenes to see if he steals Graham's sport. I think he's showing the same deficits off the field as on the field and it will be Hogan and Graham rounding out the six. It is a fascinating decision though.
  20. Ricky also had unlimited potential and struggled with mental health issues which he was good about discussing later on. I think we can agree he underachieved and who knows exactly why, however, smoking a lot of marijuana at a young age is proven to have risks and could have contributed to his problems. I agree more people are harmed by drugs and alcohol but if marijuana becomes as legal and prevalent I think we'd have a close race on our hands. I agree different people are impacted differently just like not everyone who drinks alcohol struggles with it as much as others. I don't have an agenda other than I think it's one of those many things it's best to stay away from and the NFL should continue to ban it.
  21. I don't know why everyone assumes Rogers is going to be so good. He has physical skills but seems to still lack something from what I see which, of course, is why no one drafted him. He struggles to get open, makes mental mistakes and gives up on plays. At a practice I saw Marrone verbally correct him when he gave up on a play and didn't try to break up a possible pick. A week later in an actual preseason game he watched a questionable fumble be returned for a TD. I don't think he's learning too quickly and other teams see that. I predict he gets cut. He may very well get picked up by someone else but I don't think it's a great loss. I think Hogan could be very good if used properly and Easley looks over the learning curve/injury bug. I also think a new coach wants to send a message that he keeps the players that have earned a spot.
  22. Interesting topic Count Dorkula QB - Hoping we don't lose too many games before one of the three establishes themself as a viable QB (one of them has to, right?) S, CB - My #2 concern is the defensive backfield because we only have 2 of the 4 positions in place. Even if Bryd comes back how long will it take to catch up? LG - I wish we had a better starting guard because this means the o-line is not only a little weak but thin LB - Definately a lack of depth We are weak at positions like FB and TE but I think Hackett can design around those flaws
  23. I also have trouble with fans defending this offense because marijuana is legal in some states. Every NFL player knows it is against league rules and they face potential suspension. As for marijuana, is it far from a harmless, misunderstood drug! The stuff they are designing now is genetically engineered to be increasingly addictive much like cigarettes were manipulated over time. As opposed to alcohol, it can stay in the system for up to seven days and almost immediately impairs motor skills such that studies are showing it can double the risk of a driver being in an accident. In addition, it is especially dangerous for young adults whose brians are still developing and the long-term effects are just beginning to be researched such as links to mental illness, depression and suicide. I won't continue to go off topic but there are many reasons it is a good idea the NFL does not ignore it just because a few states are making unwise decisions. And it is related because how many young careers have been negatively impacted by marijuana. Have we forgotten about Ricky Williams so fast? I don't think Bradham should be cut but it definately should be strike one.
