Good point. He was an excellent blocker. Hopefully Karlos is a good blocker who can also be a threat on third down the D has to account for? I think it was probably a football decision. Can I say that? Does that make me not everyone?

QB Tyrod Taylor to start Week 1

Like a scorned lover. This is a level of butthurt TBD has seldom seen. Total catastrophic meltdown. -
QB Tyrod Taylor to start Week 1

Oh OK. So now our head coach is on blast? The coach picked this guy and you wanted the other guy, so you're throwing a fit. Thats all that's happening here. Try not to torch the team too much in the process. -
QB Tyrod Taylor to start Week 1

It's obvious you are EJs campaign manager, but with all due respect, EJ dissed himself by virtue of his own play in his first two seasons. The worst QB in the league for stretches of both years. He's showing signs of improvement, and I definitely hope we keep him around to develop in case he can be a starter in the NFL. But your desperation to paint him as if he's been a 5 year vet who's taken a team to the playoffs or something like that is laughable. You're literally citing his year 3 preseason QBR as evidence of his greatness? Dude has played in regular season NFL games... you do realize that? In them, he helmed one of the most ineffective offenses in the game. -
QB Tyrod Taylor to start Week 1

So he could say it was a fair competition and they all had a shot. It was, they did, and Taylor won the competition. -
Any fan who boos our players on the field is not a real fan. Cast criticisms in message boards on Monday. Sunday the team needs to actively draw on the crowd. If there is a legitimate boo against BB or any player, that's just low class amateur hour BS. If anyone reading this is one of those guys, please just stay at home, yell at your TV, and kick your dog like you normally do.

QB Tyrod Taylor to start Week 1

Rex was just messing with the media (and by proxy the message board community). Nothing behind his statement other than just messing with people who took it too seriously. Feels different to have a coach of that composition. That's definitely a new thing for Buffalo. Vintage Rex though. -
Bryce Brown is electric. He hasn't broke out yet at this level but he has the ability to torch a defense. I hope he shows his detractors wrong. He was having a great game vs the chiefs last year until the fumble. And as much as everyone wants to point at that and define his football career with it, that was a hell of a strip. Just a great play by the defender. I'm hopeful he's got a lot to offer. Hats off to Fred. Hell of a career. One of the all time great Bills. A true D3 hero too.

How Does Indy Game Plan for Taylor?
DC Greg replied to PolishDave's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interested to see if that holds true with our oline. If it doesn't, we may be in big trouble again this year. I'm hopeful the line is greatly improved. Truth. When a QB is as fast and athletic as TT and tour spy is LB, it can be hard to keep up and take the right angle that needs to be made in a split second. Better strategy IMO is to keep pressure coming from different angles so he can't predict where its coming from. In this case you HOPE he runs right into a blitz at some point, takes a big shot, and is more run shy as the game moves forward. It's a risk reward strategy, and you can get burned, but over the course of a game more effective than a predictable spy. Chess vs checkers -
Such a trash player from the second he entered the league. No idea what they saw in him. Feel bad though. Seemed to be a real good kid.

Absolutely. Also funny how excited everyone got last week after two picks that were relatively easy. His overall coverage vs the browns was not good. He needs time. Gilmore looks great, however. We need Leo.

Can you repost in this thread after the starter is announced please?

I'm on board with this. TT has an x factor that I really want to see in some live NFL action. Ej looks to be progressing and I want to continue to see that. One thing to always consider when judging preseason ... it's preseason. Remember that defenses aren't showing much, mostly cover 2 or cover 3 or man under 2 deep. A big knock on ej has been his ability to read defenses. Not saying he hasn't come closer to figuring it out, but keep in mind when watching preseason.

I bet you're a big hit at parties. -
It's not a truck you just dump something on. It's a series of tubes.

Football Outsiders Breaks Down Ryan Fitzpatrick
DC Greg replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The desire to win? Is that why every time he had the ball in his hands with a chance to win it he single handedly lost it? The guy was a lock to throw a game ending interception on a drive that should have been to win the game. He is the anti clutch. He's a nice guy and all, and maybe he wanted to win badly, but that just doesn't get it done I'm afraid. How did Kevin Kolb get brought into this? He never played a snap for the Bills. -
Behind the scenes video of Tyrod Taylor's draft year
DC Greg replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You don't (or didn't back then) need mechanics when you're Michael Vick. You have superhuman ability to flick your wrist and throw a football 60 yards on a rope. If that doesn't work, you're the best athlete on the field, and you can just run it into the endzone instead. -
Just to contextualize, it seems like most people who are not fans of the Buffalo Bills think EJ Manuel is trash. From the analysts who predicted him as a mid round project who was 50/50 at best to be a decent NFL QB, to other fans who watch when their team plays the Bills, there seems to be a pretty big consensus that this guy just doesn't have the skill set of an NFL quarterback. I'd like to believe the hardcore "just let EJ play (indefinitely) and he will break through (eventually)" crew of Bills fans are right. I hope that's the case. Just pointing out that it's a very, very small minority of people who follow the NFL that feel that way. I see more hope for Geno from people when comparing the two, and that's... not good. But if EJ's the starter... I'll be behind him. He won't be though.

Football Outsiders Breaks Down Ryan Fitzpatrick

Sarcasm. Fitz is an awful football player and even worse in the clutch when the game is on the line. I would take almost anyone starting over him. And he screams like a girl. -
Football Outsiders Breaks Down Ryan Fitzpatrick

He has all the intangibles. The only minor thing lacking in his all but complete game is the ability to throw a football. -
Think how awesome Bills camp would have been... oh well. probably for the best that it wasn't us.

Who should return punts if Thigpen is cut/with Leo out?
DC Greg replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did PH return punts in college? He should absolutely do it if he can field cleanly. Otherwise, Woody. -
Jerry Hughes is still criminally underrated among Bills fans. Last years numbers were not a fluke, and for those watching, Hughes played excellent against the run, as well. So glad we got him locked up. I think we are going to continue to see huge numbers and impact plays from 55 for years to come. It's hard with the big names on that D-line to stand out, but he beats his blocks as good or better than anyone we have. He's one of the few Bills players I can remember that fans of other teams commend more than our own fans do. I think we just have an embarrassment of riches on the D-line, so it can be easy to forget... but I think he's about to emerge as one of consistent best pass rushers in the league.

B/R Report: Rex wants to start Tyrod, other coaches split
DC Greg replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There will be info leaked well in advance of actual game day vs. Indy on who the starter is. Someone is going to be practicing with the first team offense that week. Rex will tell the the team in advance. I like the idea of keeping it under wraps to mess with them, but it should be fairly well know by game day.
