Trump - could you imagine?!
DC Greg replied to BillsBackersChicago's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trump is an imbecile. We dodged a serious bullet with that one. To think, there were actually people who wanted him to own the Buffalo Bills. Phew. Hail Pegula! -
Yes, he refused to make the correct decision in the best interest of the team and instead chose cronyism over the Buffalo Bills and their fanbase. You can laud that if you wish, but I personally think that's BS. Also, I think that perspective misses the other key element: he was seeking an extension by exercising the opt out clause, as well. It wasn't just for his fellow coaches. It was for himself. Secondly, of course he second guesses himself about it now. He's the offensive line coach for the freaking Jacksonville Jaguars. He made a strategic gamble and he lost (but hedged by still getting paid). Bottom line is there is a lot of smoke to support the notion that he was overall a bad head coach, and there is a visible fire burning to show his offensive ineptness. Seriously one of the worst offensive minds in the game. We are lucky he did what he did. I thank him for overplaying his hand. Nothing could have been better for this team.

The Gross Misuse of Sammy Watkins--by the numbers
DC Greg replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Indeed, but they made a conclusion before conducting any analysis at all! You would have to try to run the play (bubble screen) to Watkins in the NFL to get any sort of analytics on it. Marrone: "We all know Sammy Watkins is great on a bubble screen with a little space. So that's what they THINK I'll do. In reality, I won't try it. All year. Even if the rest of my offensive game plan goes to hell. I'm sticking with it. It's only a matter of time before the trick play to Lee Smith works. Then I, Doug Marrone, will be rightly hailed as the true genius of the AFC East that I am." -

Seriously. We really do owe him for that one. Even though he thought he was getting one over on the Buffalo Bills and it ended up being precisely the opposite, I am still very thankful to Doug Marrone that he opted out. -
The Gross Misuse of Sammy Watkins--by the numbers
DC Greg replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marrone/Hackett were unbelievably incompetent in all phases of coaching offense, use of Sammy Watkins included. Even on the most basic levels, they just were trying to put square pegs into round holes. Just watch Watkins college tape. His screen game is UNREAL. Once he has the ball in his hands and is moving downfield, he's a threat to break tackles, evade defenders using speed, quickness, and power. Sammy can lower his shoulder and truck. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember us trying one bubble screen to him all year long. How can you watch his college tape and not say, "Yeah, we should probably draw up a play like that for him and see how it goes." It was just like willful defiance to basic things any average coach would do. So glad those clowns are gone. I have confidence Roman will coach to the strengths of our offense and Rex will ensure that he does so. -
Joe B. predicts the 53 for week 1
DC Greg replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love Dixon as a member of the team. Hard to quantify what he means to the locker room. His value there could be overstated. As a RB, I haven't been overly impressed. He seems to be a decent contributor on special teams, but again, not sure if he's been that outstanding there. If Karlos Williams is an upgrade, you can't save roster spots because you like a guy. Hope he earns a spot based on his play. -
Oh, agreed. There's no way I'm leaving the game early. It sounds like I could potentially make it from what folks are saying, but I'd rather not stress. I wanted to get a later flight, but not seeing anything available. I'm actually just looking into renting a car and driving this trip now. I've done that several times now, as well. Or Kurt Russel's new movie, Escape from Orchard Park.

Thanks for all the advice here... this is all very helpful! Dallas, where are you seeing those 7:55 and 10:10 flights to BWI at? I'm on SW website and only seeing the 6:15 flight as the last one. If there is a later flight, I will for sure do that instead!

Looking for a little advice before I book a flight and make plans here for a trip! So looks like I'll be flying in for the Pats game week two. There's a flight back to DC I'd like to catch at 6:15. Is it reasonable to assume I can make that flight if I don't leave the game early? Usually I would head out of the game going south towards Erie, so not used to going north after a game. Also, looks like the two ways to do that would be to take 90 or rt 20. Which one is worse for traffic after a game and how long would you estimate either route would take? Thanks in advance for any advice!

No I feel bad for him actually. Dude actually thought he had a chance to buy the Buffalo Bills. That desperate plea he published assuring everyone of his noble intentions... hilarious. Pegula just came in and was like "What was your offer? $800 million cobbled together from 42 investors? Here's what real money looks like... let's make it 1.4 billion just for good measure BECAUSE I CAN. Kim, where's my checkbook? Actually nevermind... here's a dumptruck full of gold. Will that suffice as payment?"

What an awesome draft pick PB was. Looking to be a steal for a third round pick. -
Bills' Mandatory Minicamp: June 16-18

Agreed. He is about as "mreh" as mreh gets. -
Not surprised they underrated Mario and Dareus. They're on the Bills. Gotta get back in the playoffs, and they'll climb. Still, how cool is it that our entire D Line is in their. They are the identity of the team, and that's pretty awesome if you ask me. I hope Bruce Smith is proud.

Bills Teammates Rave about Tyrod Taylor
DC Greg replied to RyanTalbotBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm biased because I haven't seen Tyrod Taylor play much in the NFL. So internally I want to hope that he is that new shiny diamond in the rough QB who will finally come in and take care of business for the Bills. I definitely recognize the chances of that are slim. On the other hand, I'm also not obtuse enough to believe that just because EJ Manuel was a first round pick and was forced into NFL action early, he is inherently a better QB than Taylor. If a team like the Ravens had drafted Manuel, he would have rode the bench behind a quality starter like Flacco, just like Taylor. Of course I hope EJ will improve drastically somehow. He needs to in order to be an NFL quality QB. I'm pretty doubtful from what I've seen of him. Hope he proves me wrong, or we move on and find a measure of success in Cassel or Taylor. The one thing I don't want to see happen is "Let's just give EJ 16 full games, in a row, do overs in place until he completes his 6th NFL season" Need to find a QB that can manage a competent offense. The defense is world class now, and we need to win now. -

Bears Cut Ray McDonald after Arrest on DV Charges
DC Greg replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good. NFL should follow suit and ban him. There should be zero tolerance for DV in the NFL anymore. Plus he had prior incidents. -
Which Bills player did this to JJ Watt?
DC Greg replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've wondered about HGH with him. Can't test for it effectively (in the tests the NFL uses for it, it would only show up if taken within 24 hours). That dome piece of seems to have grown quite a bit, which happens w/ HGH. -

Looks like leg to leg contact at full speed to me. Prob with a running back. -
Interesting point Carpenter raises about how this could affect the XP block strategy and sending the house. I tend to agree and think we'll see more XP blocks from this.
