Offensive Line Run Blocking finally came around...
Brandon replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Add in a little wind to mess with the kicker, and its actually pretty easy when you have a junior varsity passing game like the Bills do. -
Poll: Bills Best Coach Since Marv Levy
Brandon replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wade was the only halfway decent head coach of the four, but that's not saying much. Jauron is the worst of the four. -
This was my first year without Sunday Ticket since '98. To be quite honest, I did not miss it. The players have changed, but the team plays the same as they did four or five years ago. I've heard all of their BS excuses and at this point, I'm not buying anymore. If they're not going to bother trying to upgrade the team and put a quality product on the field, I'm not going to reward it by watching or spending money on it.

He's going to be 32 years old next season and is coming off two of the worst years of his career. I'm not sure I'd unload him, simply because they have nothing to replace him with, but evidence is mounting that he's done.

Chase Coffman for TE. 2nd or 3rd round.
Brandon replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only thing the Bills really have to lose from picking Jermaine Gresham at the #11 spot is Robert Royal. I can live with that. On the other hand, we see all of these complaints about taking a TE high and how its a 'luxury' pick, but here's the question I have: How the hell does anyone know that? The Bills haven't had a halfway decent TE on this roster in so long that we don't really know just how much impact a guy like Gresham or another top quality TE might have. It might make a *big* difference. The one guarantee I can make is that if the Bills never try, we'll never find out. -
Chase Coffman for TE. 2nd or 3rd round.
Brandon replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good question. I think the offense that he plays in is going to hurt him on draft day. He may turn out to be a very good pro, but I think there are going to be a good number of doubters this spring as to whether or not he'll be an effective inline blocker at the pro level. For that reason, I think he's probably going to go in the 3rd or 4th round, possibly even later depending upon the injury. -
DE Prospects are playing tonight
Brandon replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For what the Bills gave up for him, I'd say that Kyle Williams has been a bargain. He's not someone who should be starting, IMO, but as a backup, they could do worse. -
DE Prospects are playing tonight
Brandon replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't see that one, but he did keep an LSU TD drive going earlier in the game with an offsides penalty, too. You're right, someone will draft him very high, and based upon what I saw, I hope its not the Bills. If it weren't for all the hype, I think he'd probably be looked upon as a third or fourth round project. Yikes. -

I watched the first half, and for my part, I was very unimpressed. No one attempted to block him on the sack he had. Otherwise, he was a complete non-factor, particularly in the running game. They were blocking him successfully one-on-one with TEs at times on runs. He had one pressure and forced the QB to roll out, but it was on a stunt inside and the C or RG did manage to put him on the ground on the play. Otherwise, the LSU tackles shut him down completely from what I saw. -
Bills pick-in ten updated mock drafts
Brandon replied to billybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
DEs also take years to develop, in most cases. The 1st round rookie DE classes from 2008 and 2007 haven't done squat in the NFL up to this point. Chris Long and Gaines Adams have been decent, the rest pretty much abysmal. -
Bills pick-in ten updated mock drafts
Brandon replied to billybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It depends on who that 255lb DE is. If he develops into a player that posts 12+ sacks every year and consistently pressures the QB, I'm not going to complain much about his ability to defend the run. Speaking of run defense, DT seems to get a lot less mention than DE, TE and C as a need. Kyle Williams is decent, but I think that's a position where we could easily see a surprise 1st or 2nd round pick in April. -
Bills pick-in ten updated mock drafts
Brandon replied to billybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If it took a first round pick, I probably would not draft Alex Mack, anyway. This seems to be one of the better years for centers as of late, so I'd have no issue with waiting until R2 or possibly R3, depending upon how the draft played out. But just as with the TE and DE positions, they really need to find a good one this year, not just someone to fill a roster spot. -

Agreed. I think Gresham will end up going in the top 15, should he declare himself eligible for the draft. If he does, I would very likely pick him, especially if they sign a decent C in FA. It would solve an enormous problem that has existed for years in this offense: their inability to threaten the middle of the field. DE? Although I'm not sure that there's a truly great one available, there are probably 5 or 6 good pass rushers that will likely be available at the top of this draft. They can always trade up from the R2 spot if necessary. In any event, I'm not sure there's a nickel's worth of difference in this first group of DEs. Its a different story at TE this year. -
It definitely seems different this time. Maybe its because I myself am just about fed up with them as well. Losing doesn't bother me, as long as the front office is making an effort. If the front office doesn't care, however, why should I? I'm not ready to dump them yet, but the same old bullsh** every year is getting extremely old.
-
You're right, but its actually a part of the problem. The fans won't hold Ralph Wilson accountable. They'll show up next year and he knows it. They'll just keep buying whatever crap he peddles to them, so he can do pretty much whatever he wants.

How is it bad that the players support Jauron?
Brandon replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. It goes back to what many of us have been saying. There is no accountability for failure on this team. That's a wonderful thing if you're a player or coach drawing a check from this team. On the other hand, it pretty much sucks for the fans who have to foot the bill by paying for the tickets to see it. -
In Posey's defense, he struggled because the merry band of morons running the team at the time decided to put him in a 4-3 scheme when he was much better suited to play in a 3-4. That's not to say that he was a great player or anything, but as a former collegiate DE, he would've been much better as a pass rushing OLB in a 3-4 than he ever was trying to drop into coverage in a 4-3.
-
Exactly. Even if its not quite ideal, Ralph still has a very sweet deal going in Buffalo. He can put a mediocre product on the field every year, and every year be virtually guaranteed to put well over 60,000 butts in the stadium for every home game. That's probably not going to happen in a new city. He's going to have to field a winner, so in the longer term, it may not be such a good financial deal under those circumstances, and I suspect its why he never moved the team (speaking of ego, I also think he also wants his name in the HOF badly, and if he moves the Bills, that'll never happen). Plus, if he needs to, he can even sell off a few home games for some extra cash (something that should be completely unacceptable to any fan) and the fans will even bend over and grab their ankles for that, too.
-
The reason that he doesn't move the team is because he has a great deal in Buffalo. The fans eat up any line of bullsh** that he sells them and fill up the stadium every year. Hell, they even bent over and took it when he sold a few of their home games to Toronto. The fans of this team are pushovers and Ralph knows it. Its not that he doesn't care about winning, mind you, its that winning is a distant second to the financial bottom line, and it appears to be becoming a more distant second every year that passes.

Question For NFL Ticket Subscribers.....
Brandon replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I canceled prior to the start of the '08 season. I didn't really miss it at all, except that local cable around here carries only the Titans and Cowboys games every single week. If I wanted to watch an '08 Bills game, all I need to do is watch one of the tapes from the previous few years. Besides the changes in players' names, its basically the same old sh** every season. -
Yeah right. And on the other end, Ralph Wilson thinks of you in terms of dollar signs. You're not his son, daughter, cousin, niece, nephew, or his friend. He wouldn't give you the time of day. You're a paying customer of the product he puts on the field, one of thousands. That's it. That's not to say that the fans have any right to say some of the more awful things that they have, but you're giving Ralph way too much credit. In the end, this is merely a 50 year business relationship that he's had with the fans of this team. He gladly takes the fans' money and in exchange, we expect an attempt to put a quality product on the field. If he seems content with losing, its not surprising that the fans would be irate, giving how much money they've given him over the years for little or no return.

Players believe they are "close" to being a playoff team
Brandon replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They're 7-9. An 8-8 team made the playoffs in the AFC, so in the idiotic logic of this team, its front office, and apparently its players, that's close to making the playoffs. Never mind the fact that an 11-5 team in our own division didn't make it. Newsflash to these a**holes: you guys are a hell of a long way from being a 10 or 11 win team. They'll have trouble winning half that number in '09. -
I feel sorry for that guy. Anyone with a PR job for this team has to be living a friggin' nightmare right now. He knows he's selling the fans a turd sandwich, and the fans know he's selling them a turd sandwich.

BREAKING NEWS: Jauron to be retained
Brandon replied to BarkLessWagMore's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It looks like that's what he's trying to set up, alright. Of course, you'd have to be a complete fu**in' idiot to actually buy that load of crap after all of this.
