  1. When I was 20, I was trying to have a long distance relationship with a girl from Florida. Needless to say, it didn't work out. I finally met the love of my life at 28, and we've been together ever since. Fifteen years. When I was 20, I was horny as hell and just wanted to say that I had a girlfriend. Maybe that was Manti's problem. Between classes and football at Notre Dame, and all the media demands, he probably didn't have a whole lot of time to date.
  2. Huh. Get a load of this one. It's from a reporter named Dino Demilio:
  3. Freaking. Bizarre. I posted this on Facebook earlier: This is the most bizarre day I can think of since Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died on the same day. Obama gun control press conference? Kucinich joining Fox News? Chip Kelly going to the NFL after all? And finally, Manti Te'o and the imaginary girlfriend. This day couldn't get any weirder, could it? (Edit: I thought I told Poojer -- I posted it, but I can't find where I thought I told him.)
  4. Oh man...that was what, five years ago? Maybe longer? Wow -- I forgot all about that one.
  5. The Hockey Heaven one is terrific. Just think, this time next week, the Sabres will be on national TV.
  6. 1. Yes, the defenses are bad. We saw a combined 149 points between the four playoff teams yesterday...that's 37 points per team. However, I agree with bandit in that it is all cyclical. The problem with most of the mobile QBs you see today is they open themselves up to vicious hits. Kaepernick got away with it last night because the Packers didn't cover him well at all, leaving much of the field open. You don't think Ray Lewis would like a shot at Kaepernick? 2. The offensive line is extremely important. As Joe Theismann. My hometown Browns actually have a pretty good O-line now, and it's anchored by a six-time Pro Bowler whom the Browns spent a #3 overall pick on. 3. Disagree. Matthews came back strong this year, but couldn't catch up last night with Kaepernick. 4. Three words to consider: New England Patriots. 5. Makes sense. However, I would like the Bills to trade down for picks so they can shore up the lines (and I know, this runs a bit counter to #2).
  7. Should the Bills go after players like Josh Cribbs and Chase Daniel? It could fit in with their new Moneyball/Football philosophy. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1481684-buffalo-bills-value-free-agents-to-target-this-off-season
  8. Agreed. One heck of a playoff game -- one of the best ever.
  9. Here in Cleveland, a number of local tweets indicated potential mass suicide over the Chud hiring. That said, he's actually a decent pick, and may be better than someone like Chip Kelly over the long haul. Longtime NFL assistant, coordinator with three different teams, and fairly young at 44. By the way, the Factory of Sadness guy has his own local comedy TV show. The Factory of Sadness video and his cat video are hilarious, but that's about it. This is his cat video -- NSFW due to language. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpl5mOAXNl4
  10. Ugh. I hate to say it, but this looks like a Bills Super Bowl appearance for the Irish. #ugly
  11. I live in Cleveland. I wish the stadium was out in the burbs so I could park on somebody's lawn. That is one of the charms of Lambeau. Two blocks away, it looks like any other Midwestern neighborhood. And, um, radio d-bags? Your team plays in Foxboro. That's not downtown Boston -- you're farther away from the center of the city than Orchard Park. And Gillette Stadium is far enough away from town that it's not in a residential neighborhood either -- at least like RWS is. I bet most Pats* fans wish that they could park and tailgate on somebody's lawn instead of paying the exorbitant prices at the Razor.
  12. I think it has something to do with ego. My town's better than your town, etc. But every city, town, and village in this country has both its charms and its problems. I'm not from Buffalo, but I like the town very much. Part of it is rooting for the underdog, but Buffalo has architecture and food you can't find anyplace else. Plus I believe the proximity to Canada is a huge plus.
  13. I've followed a couple of the #BillsMafia people on Twitter, and they have followed me back. They seem alright to me. And I've been here going on 10 years. Although I have taken a couple of sabbaticals, I always feel like I can come back. The posts here are insightful, and often good for a laugh or two.
  14. Classic Pats fans, who believe the history of their team begins with the "Tuck Rule" game in 2001. The Pats used to play in Foxboro Stadium, which I used to call "the world's largest high school stadium". I never went to Foxboro, but by all accounts, the old stadium was a pit. Of course, before the palace they play in now was built, the Patriots almost moved to Hartford. Hartford! If your team almost moved to Hartford, you have no right to cast aspersions on someplace else. And these two mensas have the nerve to trash Buffalo? Give me a freakin' break.
  15. It rained and rained. Then it was sunny. Truly a weird weather day here in Cleveland. In fact, about an hour before the game, it was hailing where I live in North Olmsted. Or possibly sleeting.
  16. I've been reading the game day thread...very schizophrenic. And I hope Spiller's OK long term because 1) the Bills need him, and 2) I have him on my fantasy team.
  17. I blame ESPN for foisting Erin Andrews upon us. OK, so she's nice to look at, but she's neither the nicest person in the world nor the brightest bulb in the shed.
  18. 58 degrees, 50% chance of rain. Bring your jackets. It rained pretty hard for a couple of hours this afternoon. No umbrellas are allowed at Browns Stadium, so you may want to bring a pancho as well. The seats are mostly uncovered.
  19. If that happens, they will not only hear it from the fans, but they will probably need to be escorted out of the stadium...and possibly the city. Not a smart move to rile up people who've been drinking all morning. Browns fans can be brutal (especially upon inebriation), but we, like Bills fans, are harder on ourselves. 13 years of losing will do that.
  20. Because Rihanna has terrible taste in men...like most 24 year old women. Hannah is certainly alright by me.
  21. You will want to get down there early. There's not a whole lot of parking for a 72,000 seat stadium and the lots fill up quick. The parking here in Cleveland is nothing like the Ralph, where you have a series of lots and lawns. Of course, you guys are 15 miles outside your downtown area. The two for Bills fans to avoid are probably the Muni Lot (southeast of the stadium and across East 9th Street) and what we call "the Pit" which is close to the stadium, down the hill from West 3rd. The Pit is usually not a good visitors lot. I mention the Muni Lot because the cops have really been cracking down on the drinking (so they say).
