Who has been the best Bills player not named Josh Allen?
Kirby Jackson replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great topic @HappyDays and good list. There are options. Benford has been elite. Cook looks like a star. Shakir looks like Beasley that can run after the catch. The OTs are awesome. Bernard has been hurt but also looks like a star. Rousseau has been quite good (although I don’t know if he will ever be elite). Taron was hurt but is an all-pro. I think Taron Johnson is the next best player on the Bills. I would say that Cook is having the best season. You could make a case for any of the nominated players. Shoutout to Keon Coleman for coming on as well. If he continues on this trajectory he could become a 1,000 yard guy with a bunch of TDs by next season. He looks like a player! -
Totally fair point. They had a place called “Shuck Shack” for a few years that was owned by the Fresh Catch people. They used to fly in the seafood fresh every day. It was really good for Buffalo seafood. It had to just be too expensive to operate. It would have to be a destination and elite to warrant that overhead. It’s a bit of chicken and egg. If they are flying it in fresh everyday, they need to have the demand for a pricier, yet better, sushi. I don’t think that you could have a bunch of places that were pretty good. It would have to be one spot that was very good to make it work. I don’t see it happening but wish that it would.

Dinosaur BBQ is pretty good. Southern Junction was a finalist for a James Beard award (first Buffalo Restaurant in 34 years to achieve that along with Bar a Vin). There are levels to this and that’s kind of the sushi point. Buffalo has a couple of Dinosaur BBQ level sushi places but don’t have any Southern Junction level sushi places.

@boyst said, the NFL would never sacrifice the revenue. With that being said, you could run 5 games (Thursday, 3 Sunday and a Monday) and then give all of those teams the previous or next week off. You’d have 22 teams on a bye and the other 10 either before or after. You could always give everyone one other bye.

Well that is certainly the other part of it. It isn’t an either or though. It’s a little bit of both. The one place that I mentioned is actually based out of Ontario. I don’t expect Buffalo to have scores of quality sushi places but it isn’t unrealistic to have a couple that are elite or at least very good. There are a few that are decent but none that would be considered “very good.” Southern Junction is the perfect example (using BBQ instead of sushi). Buffalo isn’t a BBQ destination either. They have some places that are okay and have always had a few. Now they have one that is world class in Southern Junction. It compares to any great BBQ place in America. There are others that are decent but it’s nice to have one that is elite. That’s kind of what I’d like to see on the sushi front.

There are a few places with edible sushi in WNY but I’m yet to find anywhere with good sushi. That makes sense though because you aren’t near the ocean. You don’t get the quality and variety of fresh fish that you would otherwise. There were 2 dozen sushi places in New Orleans better than the best place in Buffalo (and New Orleans isn’t known for their sushi). Kuni’s, Wind and Fuji Grill are all decent.

Rams May Want to Trade Tre White
Kirby Jackson replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s sad to see but it happens. He was a great player, with a short prime, and his career is ending over injuries. He’s Sam Cowart. -
Rams May Want to Trade Tre White
Kirby Jackson replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall
You can always tell how much people pay attention to the rest of the league with threads like this. Anyone advocating for Tre or commenting when someone says “he’s done” aren’t paying attention. We all love Tre. He has been a healthy scratch for a few straight weeks. He is ranked 101 of 105 CBs. He’s cooked. Next time we see him in Bills gear hopefully it’s leading the charge before a game. -
Bills kicking the tires on Kupp trade with Rams?
Kirby Jackson replied to loyal2dagame's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills aren’t “set” at WR. They’re average there (no longer tragic). With that being said, Kupp doesn’t make a ton of sense. The Bills have lots of slot options. It wouldn’t be crazy to se another boundary guy though. That way Coleman and Shakir can work from the slot. I don’t foresee another move at WR but it isn’t out of the question. Mike Williams is an example of the kind of guy that could help (although the Jets wouldn’t trade him to the Bills). Cooper and Williams playing on the outside with Shakir and Keon in the slot. Samuel working as the gadget guy. That’s a pretty good room (especially with Keon coming on). I’m not expecting it but there is absolutely room to get better at WR. WR/S/DT/pass rush are the areas that they can still get better at (excluding kicker). -

Godwin injury ... hip drop???
Kirby Jackson replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
They put in these rules to make the game safer (horse collar, hip drop, hit to a defenseless receiver, etc..). They are good rules and need to be enforced. No one wants to see Chris Godwin miss an extended period of time over something that could be prevented. I wish that there was a way to take playing time away from the offenders. If you get one of those penalties or a fine from one of those plays, it’s a warning. The 2nd offense is 1 game. The 3rd offense is 4 games. 4th offense is 8 games and 5th offense is a season. That will clean things up and prevent these senseless injuries. -
Dorian goes back into a reserve role. He will still find some playing time. It also allows the Bills flexibility with Milano if he struggles coming back.

5 Cities Tried to Steal The Bills From WNY
Kirby Jackson replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know a little bit about the lease and the situation from that time. This is kind of BS. Ralph and his team (Littman, Russ Brandon, etc) negotiated an iron clad lease that wouldn’t have allowed someone to move for like a decade. This was Ralph’s wish and way to ensure that the next owners would keep the team here. I don’t remember the specifics but certain groups explored buying the Bills but it wasn’t going to be “tough to move them away.” It was impossible. They would have been a lame duck in WNY for like a decade and paid a crazy amount (like more than the cost of the team if my memory is right). No one really knew the specifics until the bidding started and they were screwed (including Bon Jovi). The details are fuzzy but the overarching point is that relocation was never an option. -
I have no idea what Rousseau’s value is before his new contract. I don’t think it’s beyond a 3rd or 4th on his own. Rousseau and a 3rd isn’t in the realm of what Garrett will go for. Rousseau, a 1 and, a 3 isn’t enough imo.
-
Fair. I’m not sure that he will get that (although he might). I’ve kind of been a little all over in terms of what he will get. It will be 2 firsts plus a little more. If I had to guess they will want a young, starter as a part of it too. It doesn’t seem like something that the Bills would do, but maybe something like Rousseau and 2 firsts or Elam, 2 firsts, a 3rd & 5th? I don’t know the other teams well enough to know what they may include so this is my Bills example. The Bills would not have to make a decision on a big extension for Rousseau that may or may not be a good idea. The Browns would get 2 firsts and a young pass rusher with upside. With Elam, you’re buying low on a guy that has flashed and has talent. I still think other teams have bigger packages to offer. Garrett and Crosby are “all in” moves for someone. Bears? Lions? Jets 😂😂?
-
He will 100% go for 2 1sts plus more. He’s, arguably, the best pass rusher in the world. Pass rush and #1 WR are the most coveted positions outside of QB. That’s what Justin Jefferson would cost too. You win with stars and generational players. Garrett isn’t Bradley Chubb (who went for a 1, 4, and Edmonds for a 5th). Garrett is generational. I’ll wager whatever you want that they get 2 first rounders plus more. I don’t know exactly where it’ll end but that is absolutely the comp. The Bears traded 2 firsts, a 3rd & 6th for Mack, a 2 and a 7. This compensation will be more. Our fan base has a history of overrating our own players (see any WR thread prior to last week) and underrating other players in the league (someone last week said that they didn’t want Davante Adams taking snaps from Mack Hollins). Myles Garrett is a HOF pass rusher in his prime. Based on this we are overrating the foot injury too: https://www.ankle-footspecialist.com/blog/myles-garretts-injured-foot With all of that being said, I don’t think that the Bills are the destination. The Lions feel like the ideal place. Za’Darius Smith would fit the Bills though.

Have fun everyone!! Super jealous of y’all going to this game. Hopefully you have a great time!!
-
That may not be enough. The conversation starts with 2 1sts and more. The Bills having a late 1st puts them in position where they may have to add a 2nd. I don’t think Garrett is a realistic target but that’s the price if he moves. They absolutely will get multiple 1sts.
-
Then we strongly disagree. His stats are well ahead of both MVP seasons. He’s currently the betting favorite.
-
Well of course it isn’t over. At the same time, it’s reasonable to have a list of the leaders at this point. Through 7 games, Lamar Jackson is the MVP.
-
I don’t know if you were chastised for the cost in draft picks or for the thought that DE was a bigger need than WR. That wasn’t a reasonable opinion prior to Cooper. Obviously Garrett is an elite player. He may be the best defensive player in football and plays a very important position. If you had a chance to get him, who cares what it costs. You’d be the Super Bowl favorite. I don’t know much about these injury issues people are talking about. If he’s injured, you can’t make that big offer.
