I don’t believe that they can. I think that you could take any competent coach in college or the NFL and be 4-2 right now. I believe that they have played about as poorly as this group can possibly play with the exception of the 1st half against the Jets and the last 4 minutes vs. Baltimore.

Totally fair. Cignetti is an arrogant prick. 🤣🤣 Even still, I think that the downside risk just isn’t there with a healthy Josh. Part of the reason that I’ve been so adamant about change is that I don’t think that the bottom can fall out.

Lol, you don’t think that Josh sees the problems?? He said as much in his press conference last week BEFORE Monday’s game. Whether or not he says anything is a different story. I agree that it is not in his nature. With that being said, he sees the problems. He said it out loud.

No washed up retreads. The answer is you have a zillion options that could accomplish what they have. The point is, it doesn’t matter if it is Stefanski or Flores or Klint Kubiak or whomever. The floor doesn’t move much (assuming healthy Josh) but maybe the ceiling does. My guy at this point is Curt Cignetti. He’s older than I’d like but just wins. He has that swagger/confidence that I’m looking for in the next coach. The Bills have lost their edge. Cignetti’s teams never lose their edge.

Isn’t it kind of the same thing? Only 2 people can make change here, Josh and Terry. Beane or McDermott couldn’t go to Terry and say, “we should trade Josh.” Josh, however, could go to Terry and say, “time to dump these guys.” Ultimately Terry has to pull the trigger but Josh has pretty much equivalent power in a lot of ways. It’s like LeBron at this point. It doesn’t mean that he will always be right but he absolutely has the power to make major change.

Could they? That’s where we disagree. I think that the floor, with Josh as QB is probably 10-7 with a playoff spot. Pretty much any competent NFL or college coach could do that. The roster, outside of Josh, is one of the worst in football IMO. With average QB play (think Tua) they are about a 4 win team. Regardless of how much influence he has had, he didn’t ultimately decide on any draft picks or FA signings. His input might have been wrong but the people calling the shots made bad decisions with and without his input. If he wants change, what is the risk in terms of the floor? If they, HYPOTHETICALLY (I’m not advocating for this), replaced this group with the group that the Browns currently have, are they even worse? Forget about “it’s too risky to try.” The Bills have won the division and a playoff game or 2 every year. Great. They should. They have Josh Allen. I don’t attribute much of that to the coaches or GM. Outside of picking Josh, lots and lots of people could have accomplished what they have or more.

I’m a yes. That probably has to be an off-season thing though depending on how major the changes are. I’d like to see him start pushing for a WR now and end this everybody eats nonsense. In the offseason, if the year ends like every other, he can push further. There is no benefit to status quo. Josh is the only person in the organization with the leverage and power to make change (besides Terry).

I’ve always liked Meyers and think he’s a good receiver. He’d be a really good number 2. You need another 400-500 yard receiver? He’s going to get you 800-900. You need a 1100-1200 yard receiver? He’s going to get you 800-900. Lol, he feels like the “Final Boss of JAG WRs.” He is the “Thanos of Everybody Eats.” 🤣🤣 If you were to take the top 32ish WRs in the NFL off the board and then start ranking guys 33 to last, he would be near the top of the list (and all other Bills WRs would check in after him).

Star Lotulelei checks a lot of boxes. He’s big, old, slow, injured, quit during COVID, played for Beane/McDermott in Carolina, played for Beane/McDermott in Buffalo, and they have a need for a run stuffer. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think that the frustration (not that I want to make this another Keon thread) is that it wasn’t hindsighty. There were a lot of experts, Matt Harmon in particular, that hated Keon as a prospect. Keon has looked pretty much exactly like he did in college both good and bad. Keon struggling to get open and being inefficient was to be expected. This isn’t like “we should have taken Puka at 150 instead of Justin Shorter.” That’s hindsighty. No one was banging the table that we needed (or anyone needed) Puka. He is a guy that was probably undervalued, that had a great skill set and ended up in a perfect situation. He exploded into one of the game’s best players. That’s hindsighty. The Coleman situation isn’t. He was a flawed prospect that many had rated lower.

Candidly, I haven’t dug in on the numbers. I just remember, anecdotally that his contract was doable comparatively. I’m sure that there would need to be some levers pulled but don’t think it was anything crazy (like it would have been for Parsons for example).

None of them feel crazy. Obviously I’ve made my opinions known on Beane and McDermott but that’s not happening now. Make these types of moves and you might be able to get the train back on the tracks. A message needs to be sent. They’ve been sleepwalking for pretty much the whole season.

- I’d pull play calling from Babich today or fire him altogether. - I would fire Adam Henry as well. - I’d sratch Keon next game. I would dress Gabe in his place (if he’s healthy). - I’d release Jordan Phillips from the PS. I don’t care that he’s a vet that knows the system and loves it here. I’d make an example of him for jumping offside. - I’d be tempted to cut Tre too but that may be a bridge too far. I probably wouldn’t do this but would think about it. - I’d open Hairston’s practice window and start him as soon as possible. Take your lumps and you might not be any worse. - I would trade for AT LEAST 1 WR this week to play vs. Carolina. Olave would be my first choice. None of these moves, in a vacuum makes you a contender but they all move you closer to it. It also sends a message to the team that how they’ve performed, regardless of the results of the games, hasn’t been good enough.

I spend an ungodly amount of time and money on this team. I will continue to whether they are good or bad. I always have. It’s incredibly frustrating to watch this team regress in a year that was as good of a chance as they’ve had. If they don’t win with Josh, we are looking at a reset (at least at some level). This team has been championship caliber for 5 or 6 years and haven’t been to a Super Bowl. That’s the standard now. We aren’t trying to end the drought. They’ve failed so far and accountability is needed. These windows don’t stay open for long and the Bills have already wasted at least a few years. Ross Tucker is literally on WGR now talking about how concerning this is for the Bills. He just said that “they’re not good enough to do what they want to do.” I’m not sure what your interpreting as “coping?” That would assume acceptance of what’s happening. I want accountability for the clear and obvious failings. As a stakeholder, I’m voicing my displeasure even if it’s just yelling at clouds. Play to your standard and the results will be what they’ll be. They’ve played 1 good 1/2 this year (1st half vs. Jets). I expect more. They’re capable of more.

I don’t think that the Bills have “missed the window” but they haven’t done nearly enough to increase their chances within the window. They probably have another 6 years(ish) of prime Josh and a couple more years where he’s still a good QB. They are further now though than they were 4 years ago. That’s not ideal. It isn’t over but they don’t seem to be getting closer. They’ve played 1 good 1/2 in 6 games.

Certainly possible. Every era seems to have guys with loose lips. I personally do not hear nearly as much as I used to. I’m not sure that’s because the organization has all of a sudden stopped the leaks or that it’s now just different people with loose lips.

I have heard that. The roster has turned over some and by most account McDermott has softened some. If the players loved him though things like the Taliban comments wouldn’t have leaked. I haven’t heard anything recently but I’m not hearing as much on anything at the moment.

It’s not though. You have 10-15 years of Josh Allen. This is the best chance you’ve had in 30 years. it may be the best chance that you have for the next 30 years. You have a Ravens team that looks out of it, a Bengals team that is out of it. This is as good of a chance as you’re going to get and they’re squandering it!! You’re into year 8 of Allen and have yet to play for one. You entered the season with CLEAR and OBVIOUS shortcomings. The sheep were fine with “everybody eats” and Tre White starting at CB. Predictably, it’s been a disaster and you’re about to tick off another year of Josh. I’m not fine with that. There is an absolute urgency to make changes to avoid another year(s) of coming up short. FWIW, I’ve been screaming this for the last 3 or 4 years (and I’m unfortunately right to this point). It’s one thing to lose. It’s a whole different issue to lose because of problems that should have been addressed. Lol, it’s not negativity it is reality.

That’s where I am. I’ve been there for a few years. If God forbid, they don’t get one with Josh, they may never. There is MAJOR urgency IMO for that reason.

I’d prefer Olave too. He just fits perfectly into what we need. Jeudy has certainly had some drop issues but generally I don’t worry too much about that. He had 145 targets last year and 10 drops. He dropped 6.9% of the passes thrown his way. If the Bills threw him the ball 100 times over the last 11 games, and he had 6 or 7 drops, I wouldn’t really worry. That holds especially true as you ar looking at 58 catches to those 6 drops and roughly 800 yards. He would do in 11 games what the best of the Bills WRs do in a season. I am not advocating for Jeudy but if we are talking about Jeudy vs. guys that we have, it’s Jeudy in a landslide. There are so many guys that would be an upgrade. That’s less about those guys than it is about how bad the current group is.

They just backed themselves into a corner entering the 2024 draft. That would have been okay if they took McConkey (for example). He was very safe. He may not have become a star but he was going to be 800+ yards and a bunch of targets day 1. He had a skillset and production that was destined to translate. You couldn’t take the risk on Keon because you didn’t have anyone else. Trading up would have been the best answer IMO. I would have tried to get one of the big 3 regardless of the cost. Those guys all had high ceilings and high floors. Generally, I am not a fan of factoring in the floor with your early picks but the Bills had no choice because of their crappy WR room. They just couldn’t afford the downside of Keon (or a bunch of other guys). They had to sacrifice some potential upside for the lack of downside. They didn’t and it, predictably, failed. The Bills lack elite players at the most important positions (non QB). They don’t have an elite pass rusher or an elite WR. You have to draft or trade for those guys in 2025. They no longer hit FA. That’s all the more reason to be aggressive at the deadline.

Edmunds is a better player than Bernard. He can just do more. Neither extension would have been a good decision.

Lol, personally I don’t care, at all, about the WR’s ego. The Bills were a way better offense with Diggs than without. I care that the WR consistently gets open and makes plays. If AJ Brown were available sell your soul. I don’t care if I have to throw it to him 20 times a game to keep him happy. I’d rather 20 balls a game to “(insert good WR here)” than 5 to Palmer, 5 to Coleman, 5 to Samuel and 5 to Shakir. Just get a guy that’s good.
