  1. Yeah, I’ll take it. That’s the same thing that I said in my first post on the topic. I’m happy with the job that each of them is doing with their respective roles. Each of them has separate and distinct responsibilities without a ton of overlap. Maybe I’m not giving people enough credit but there isn’t NEARLY the overlap that some people think. The real overlap is coaches w/coaches and GM w/ personnel department. Joe Schoen has a WAY, WAY, WAY bigger role in assembling the roster than McDermott (as an example). That’s my issue with lumping them together but I get it. As a football operations department (not just Beane and McDermott) it’s a strong group. They have a lot of talent in those respective groups and have done a really nice job since coming here.
  2. Not being argumentative, I’m just applying common sense. They have different jobs!! Of course they collaborate but that doesn’t mean that they are equal at their job. McDermott may like a certain player or type of player but he doesn’t decide that. Beane adds the guy(s) that he and his staff think are best. Beane may like a certain play or style of play but McDermott makes that call. When we look at Pegula’s other team we never refer to the “Brueger Administartion.” We judge the job that Botterill is doing and the job that Krueger is doing. Pretty much everyone gives Botterill a poor grade but not everyone would give Krueger the same score. Most would agree it’s tough to lump them together because the perception is Krueger is better at his job (coaching the team) than Botterill is at his (assembling the team). Maybe people don’t realize how different their jobs are but they aren’t even in the same department. Beane’s day is spent with the football ops staff like Schoen, Gaine, Morgan and the scouts. McDermott’s day is spent with Daboll, Fraizer, players and coaches. The truth is there are probably 20 people that have more of a say in personnel than McDermott. There are probably 20 people that have more of a say in the style of play than Beane. My point is, and always will be, that they need to be judged on what they’ve done. They have equally important jobs and are both doing well. That doesn’t mean that Beane and McDermott are the exact same.
  3. They don’t though. As someone that spent 8 years in pro sports they do different things. We shouldn’t be lumping them together.
  4. I didn’t vote. I have different scores for each of them. It’s the same way that I have a different score for John Brown and Ed Oliver. They have totally different jobs. My perception of them isn’t intertwined.
  5. So am I supposed to judge their relationship? It feels like it’s a stable relationship. Both are a little hard on the outside but they have a soft inside (especially McDermott). He feels kind of “ride or die.” I’d say that McDermott is pretty loyal. Beane feels like a bit of a player. I don’t want him to hurt Sean but think it’s possible.
  6. Okay, this is now getting crazy. They believe that it has to do with an illness to Rudy Gobert. Stay tuned...
  7. That spicy ketchup though...
  8. I mean I don’t know what people expect? I thought $10Mish but $12M won’t be a shock. Trent Murphy is about to get $10M and he’s a worse player that signed his contract years ago.
  9. I know!! It sucks that there isn’t one closer than LaPlace. If I head to BR or that way I usually try to make a stop. It’s not very often but Whatburger is really good. I can hit a sand wedge to Cane’s from my office at the end of Vets.
  10. I’m not lying (we are spoiled)...
  11. This is an easy topic. The answer is Raising Cane’s and the 2nd place finisher is Whataburger. Everything else falls in behind them.
  12. I think that it’s fine to be by player. There is already a thread on the first page discussing Jones. That’s my issue. This time of year there will be a lot of players being discussed (Reader, Jones, Norman, Kirksey, etc). The board will have enough clutter without starting duplicate threads on the same guy.
  13. 99% of the board observes this simple request. This is like the 5th time in a week one person went rogue on a topic being discussed on the 1st page. It’s not like you had to go digging. If you want to comment on the thought open the thread and respond. Do not start a new one talking about the same topic. I’ll bet @Hapless Bills Fan would agree
  14. Is this different than the “Dolphins release Jones” thread? If not, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE stop starting threats on topics already being discussed!!
  15. The pre-draft visitors aren’t flown in on Pegs jet. They fly commercially and then are picked up at the airport by a member of the football ops department and brought to the facility. With that being said, I doubt any of these guys decline the opportunity for a job interview. My guess, with the situation where it currently is, pre-draft visitors are still flying in and out of the different cities.
  16. Ha ha, probably a little Honestly, it may have been even more than 8. We had over 10 people get a perfect score on either section of the SAT. 3 people got perfect scores. There were probably another dozen or so that went to the Williams, Amherst, and Trinity type of schools (which are probably an even better education). It was a pretty sharp group (present company excluded).
  17. My graduating class was 96 and I think at least 8 ended up in the Ivy League. Of those 8, some were bookworms and some a little more well-rounded. The connections are great for those that are a little more introverted. It gives them a natural door opener that would be more difficult with a lack of social skills. Those that were more well-rounded had even higher ceilings. Their Ivy League education has even outsiders swooning over them in addition to their alumni connections. One of my good friends in high school is now the president of LeBron James production company Springhill Entertainment. Maverick Carter, Rich Paul and even LeBron wouldn’t take no for an answer. They basically recruited him through a mutual connection. They didn’t know him at the time but thought that he’d fit the brand and bring an Ivy League education.
  18. This is the value of the Ivy League schools. The education there is as good as anywhere. The connections and relationships are far beyond everywhere.
  19. There’s a lot of reasons to connect Kirksey to the Bills. They have a starting spot open. 2 of his best friends start on the defense. The Bills have a lot of cap space. He doesn’t factor into the comp formula. The Bills interest and Kirksey’s interest shouldn’t be a surprise. Obviously the numbers will have to work but I’d be surprised if the Bills weren’t in on this.
  20. He may be connecting dots but the dots are easy to connect. My guess is the Bills would be interested on more of a “prove-it” deal. He may find more guaranteed money elsewhere. Kirksey would be a nice addition though.
  21. When we did the mock on here I took him to the Raiders at 20. Just feels like he’s a guy that brings a high ceiling and is a great fit in today’s NFL. He can do a lot and is still raw.
  22. Great athlete, but a little undersized. It’s tough to really judge because he replaced a legend and one of the best college LBs that I have ever seen. He’s a nice player but he’s not Devin White. Queen actually feels a little like Milano to me.
  23. I’m guessing that NFL people are higher on him than mock drafters. He COULD be a top 20 pick IMO.
  24. When you say “most” of your stuff that surely wouldn’t include your bank account right?
