Am I the only one sick of the DAK
Kirby Jackson replied to Behindenemylines's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’d stack Dak up next to Carson Wentz right now and we never hear anyone saying how bad Wentz is. Honest question, how many QBs since the EJ draft are better than Dak today? I’m not talking about potential, yada, yada, yada. Mahomes, Deshaun and Lamar? Is that the list? -

Again though he’s won 62.5% of his starts. In the Super Bowl era only Dan Marino and Dak Prescott have 40 wins and 15,000 yards passing in their first 4 seasons. I’m not trying to be antagonistic but saying that he “rarely wins” couldn’t be further from the truth. He’s actually winning at a, borderline historic, level. I’m really just trying to get to the bottom of it. I by no means am a Dak or Cowboys fan. I just think that this place is better when we deal in reality. Dak is a very good NFL QB. He’s right around 10 IMO. He’s 26 and just had his best season. The way people talk about him on here you’d think that he were Stidham. All that I’m trying to do is provide some context to these opinions. I see things like “he doesn’t win” and he wins A LOT. -

I guess I’m asking WHY he will struggle in the Super Bowl? He’s played well in the playoffs. Whats the reasoning? I mean, I’d understand if someone said “Andy Dalton will never win a Super Bowl” when he was in his prime. He has been horrendous in the playoffs. It’s easy to say, “he doesn’t have it.” Dak has been a very good playoff player. I am trying to understand but it isn’t making sense? -

What specifically haven’t you liked about his playoff performances? He’s scored 7 TDs (includes 2 rushing) vs. 2 INTs. He has completed over 64% of his passes for 265 yards a game. His team averaged 26 points a game in his playoff starts. Just not sure why we think he struggles in the playoffs? -

Getting paid more than Wilson is a function of timing more than talent. As that Charles Robinson article that is posted earlier said the chance at a Russell Wilson type of deal is gone. He’s getting more than Russell Wilson and with a flat cap that’s a problem for Dallas. They played hardball when they shouldn’t have. I too have followed Dak a longtime. I was in Tiger Stadium in 2014 where he stunned LSU. He was dominant. He’s never going to be an elite NFL QB but he is around 10 now. For some perspective last year he was 2nd in yards, 13th in completion percentage, 4th in TD passes, 8th in yards per attempt, 10th in rating and 4th in QBR. He’s won 62.5% of his career starts. That’s not a guy that’s interchangeable with Dalton. That’s a high end NFL QB. That’s a different argument all together but that’s 100% Snyder’s reasoning. If you ever wonder “why” follow the money. -

Again, we have a zillion different ways that we try to discredit him. As of today, based on what he’s done, Dak is right around 10. We can go back and forth with different data points but the more we dig in on that the more it supports Dak. He’s not ever going to be the best in the league but he will always be a Pro Bowlish QB. He’s 26. He wins. Hes CRIMINALLY underrated by TBD. -

Those companies do not want/need their brand potentially damaged by that association. That’s the problem that Washington ran into. Believe me, if they thought someone would have just jumped in they would have stuck to their guns. In this environment no company was dying to put their name on the worst stadium in the NFL, for one of the worst team’s in the NFL, with the worst ownership in the NFL and a team with a racist name. How would that benefit Amazon? UPS? Anybody? There are a lot better use of their advertising dollars. Normally sponsors are lining up. This situation is totally different hence the name change. -

No sponsor was stepping in to fill the void left in this situation. That wouldn’t have benefited their brand. “Washington lost FedEx because they refused to change their racist name. We look forward to filling the void left by FedEx as we support the name Redskins.” The juice isn’t worth the squeeze and I know a little something about sponsorships. -

I think he would have shopped his services. Washington and Jacksonville could have entered the picture pretty easily. Playing chicken with your 26 year-old franchise QB isn’t exactly a good strategy. -

That’s not what would have happened if they “pulled the tag” as you suggested. He would have been a FA and could have went anywhere or sat out. -

Andy Dalton career winning percentage 52.6%. Dak Prescott career winning percentage 62.6%. Also, only one of them has a playoff win to his credit and it’s not the guy that is entering year 10. -

He would have just sat out the year and been a FA then. Do you think it’s wise for a team that 17:1 to win the Super Bowl to essentially have their franchise QB quit in late July? -

No offense but the Washington situation isn’t that complicated. Why did they buckle when the public didn’t care? They buckled because THEIR SPONSORS cared!! They were about to lose giant chunks of money and their minority owners. No one was stepping in after that. It was a financial decision. -

The Dak hate on here is kind of hilarious. We watched him play one game and formed an opinion. A lot of that hate stems from him playing in Dallas. We look so foolish in our criticism. He’s not elite. He’s a top 10ish QB right now. The cost for a young top 10 QB is approaching $40M a year. That’s just what it is. It’s time to accept that. We MAY be (hopefully) looking at a similar problem in a few months. -

Glad that you posted this because I was just coming here to post this article about the negotiations. It’s a really interesting read and one that we need to be mindful of if Josh continues to progress like Dak has. https://sports.yahoo.com/cowboys-blew-it-with-dak-prescott-in-2019-thats-why-theres-no-longterm-deal-now-and-why-he-may-exit-later-051415760.html -
Michael Lombardi hints Dareus to the Patriots
Kirby Jackson replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to revisit but my entire point at the time was that I’d never keep a replacement level player over a guy with a massive ceiling. I felt the same way with Jason Peters and Mike Jasper. If it turns out that the guy can’t play you can find another replacement level player. I’ve always said that and always will. -

He was a replacement level player that averaged 29 catches and 382 yards a season. You can throw a rock and find that production (especially with Brady). That was always my assertion and I’m sticking by it. He’s Zay Jones. -

I’d rather a high upside, low floor guy didn’t end up in New England. They just did it with the QB. I’m fine when they add Hogan, Chandler or Gillislee because there is only so much impact that they can make. They are average talents that could easily be replaced by other average talents. Cam and Dareus are not that. It’s best if he doesn’t end up there. -
Free Agent or Trade? One more baby!
Kirby Jackson replied to Frez's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the kind of thing that I was thinking. We have 2 5ths and 2 7ths next year at this point (no 4th). Maybe a 5th and 7th that can become a 6th? I would also consider one of those vet safeties potentially to compete for a roster position. If Poyer or Hyde goes down it would be nice to at least have that option. I think Jaquan Johnson will be the guy and Marlowe is okay too. I just like the idea of a really experienced vet back there in McDermott’s system. Reid, Jefferson and Jones are all still out there I believe. -
Ranking Offensive Weapons by team
Kirby Jackson replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Carolina at least has some elite weapons. McCaffrey is the best weapon in the league and DJ Moore is coming off almost 1,200 yards with Kyle Allen at QB. He’s a legit number 1. Robby Anderson is a nice #2 and Samuel is incredibly explosive. It’s not the deepest group beyond them but the top is strong. I don’t take much issue with their ranking. They belong in the top 10 somewhere anyways. I agree though that a list like this will always be polarizing because it’s all opinion.
