  1. They gave him a standard bridge qb contract with easy outs!! That’s done for cap management not because they were going to pay him the total. Don’t be naive. Forum members were at each other’s throats over “is he serviceable or should he be replaced now.” I was in the middle of a lot of those. I believed that they should have never went to Peterman for example. I never thought “anyone else would be better.” At the same time, I was a big believer in the 2018 class so I pushed to wait for that group. Gunner, for example wanted Watson. I wanted to stack assets to get our choice in 2018. I liked Rosen and Baker the best so I would have been wrong. There weren’t people believing that he was the future just that he was better than the alternatives. He was.
  2. No they didn’t!! I don’t know one Bills fan that ever thought he was a franchise QB. He was serviceable after years of horrible. We were all in agreement that he was a bridge. Some of us differed if it should have been the 2017 or 2018 draft but not 1 person thought he was a franchise guy. 😂😂
  3. One guy has a winning record with almost 50 starts. That’s pretty dumb. We know that you hate him but NO ONE (reasonable) thinks Matt Barkley is a better option. This type of absurd hyperbole is the reason that I feel a need to chime in. I was responding to the guy suggesting that he’d be “bagging groceries.” He’s a top 40 QB now and there are almost 90 rostered in the Covid era. He’s not going to be out of the league anytime soon.
  4. You believe that Matt Barkley is a better football player than Tyrod Taylor?
  5. I’m a believer that Tyrod is a fine bridge QB. After that performance yesterday from Herbert, they should’ve handed him the keys. He looked really good!!
  6. I haven’t seen the exact breakdown by type of run I’m not comfortable commenting on that personally. It would be a “gut feeling” to say that the sweeps aren’t working but the read option is for me. That’s why I lumped them together.
  7. Now, Josh’s runs not working is a different argument. I think in general they are effective but if you feel differently, understood. The Bills shouldn’t run anything that isn’t working. I think that the crux of this conversation though is people are worried Josh will get hurt running too much.
  8. Is it though? I don’t mean that to be antagonistic either but QB injuries aren’t often on designed runs. It’s when someone rolls up on your leg in the pocket or hitting a hand on a helmet or whatever. I’d like to see data supporting or dispelling that. I think it is intuitive to believe that guys are more likely to get hurt running but i just don’t know if that’s true. He just can’t play tentative or scared. That’s why Trent Edwards is my least favorite Bills player ever. He played scared and was bad because of it. The Bills need to attack (even late in games with the lead). This team is built to attack and need to keep the foot on the gas (that includes Josh running).
  9. Oh, there are a lot of people waiting for that “I told you so” moment. At the end of the day it’s football and people get hurt. He is big and physical. At some point he will probably get hurt. Pretty much everyone that plays the position goes through it. I just hope that, whenever that time is, it is minimal. He can’t play scared though. He needs to remain aggressive. That’s when the Bills are at their best.
  10. Here’s my take as someone that is not a big PFF fan. Confirmation bias is real:
  11. He didn’t run because the gameplan didn’t call for it. There will be other weeks when he does run quite a bit. Josh is an elite runner (when he hangs onto the ball). That’s not something that is going to go away (especially with his size).
  12. This insecurity is the worst. It’s my biggest pet peeve with our fan base.
  13. For one Josh Allen is 30 Lbs heavier than Lamar. He runs like Cam not like Lamar. Cam parlayed that style into an MVP award and a 15-1 record in 2015. He did get dinged later on as refs didn’t protect him but now appears healthy again. You can’t play the game worrying about injury. At the same time no one talks about how Drew Brees missed over a quarter of last season from in the pocket. It happens people get hurt in football. Every single game that Josh has played timid or safe he has been BAD. When he attacks he makes plays. When the Bills drafted Josh Allen they drafted a guy that will always be running and taking hits. That’s who he is. He’s actually a much better player when he takes a couple of hits early in the game. It gets him into the flow. There are so many people here waiting for him to get hurt to say, “I told you that would happen.” They will forget at the same time all of those plays where Josh escaped, tiptoed the sideline to get to the marker and keep a drive alive. You have to let playmakers make plays!!! That was me
  14. This is another thread about you not wanting Josh to run. As discussed in the “Josh runs too much thread” the reason that he runs is that the other backs aren’t a threat to get to the corner and turn it up. Yeldon doesn’t play because he isn’t very good and fumbles a lot. We get it, you want Josh to stop running. That’s not going to happen. It’s a massive part of his game and it is what makes the Bills offense dynamic. He’s the one explosive playmaker that they have in the backfield. He needs to take care of the ball better and take a few less unnecessary hits.
  15. He’s been a Buckeye for longer than Hunter Renfrow was at Clemson!! I have a friend whose last name as McCall and he talked about getting that jersey late in the 2006 season.
  16. PTR, is 100% right here. The team’s loyalty is to those that support them the most. I’d be shocked if anyone but season ticket holders had the opportunity to go this year. I’m sure there will be some tickets that hit the secondary market but teams are never going to take care of people that invest in them every so often vs. those that invest in them always. Every business is like that and sports are an extreme when it comes to that.
  17. Someone argued the one day that he was good against the run. He isn’t. He’s a liability. Last year teams would just turn him to the inside and run right off of that tackle’s shoulder. That was my issue with him. He is a pretty good pash rusher. He’s bad against the run. I don’t mind the extra being spent on him (unless it is at the cost of keeping Milano).
  18. @Royale with Cheese are you going to come to this game. If so, let’s get tickets.
  19. Now we are talking!! This team, with all that adversity, is set up to win it all!!
  20. That’s the only flight I didn’t cancel. I’m going to try to go
  21. He was asked about the play of the right side of the line and he said something to the tune of, “I thought Darryl Williams played a really good game.” They asked him then specifically on Ford then and he said, “he did some things well.” Just thought that it was notable
  22. Good topic!! I voted Murphy and am guilty of it but he’s losing whipping boy status. Cody Ford is the other one that sticks out. This is especially true after McDermott’s comments after the game.
  23. And he never plays so it has to be Josh. With the roster that the Bills have, Josh Allen absolutely has to run some read option to spread the field horizontally. The only other thing that does that is the McKenzie jet sweeps. He may have to play a little more for that same reason. You have to at least have the threat of getting to the edge and turning it up. FWIW, that’s why I was in favor of more of a speed back coming out than I was of Moss. It’s not a knock on Moss as a player it’s just a skill set that is different from Motor.
