  1. I am guessing that means they will show the Sabres game between periods of the Rangers game, but it won't be their primary game...and then the end of the Sabres game, as it starts 30 minutes later. Pretty lame...
  2. So, the GR55 website says that Game 4 of the Sabres/Flyers series will be on Versus, but NHL.com does not show that Versus is carrying the game...of course, Versus web-site merely lists "NHL Hockey" for the time-slot tomorrow night...I am inclined to trust NHL.Com more than GR, but I don't know...anyone have anything definitive? NHL.com says that Versus will be showing the NY Rangers/Washington Capitals game. btw- if you don't like the way that Versus handles the NHL, get used to it: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=6389351
  3. On the fence on this one... The difference between the shut-out Ryan Miller of game 1, and the not so special Miller of games 2 & 3 is the performance of the defense. In game 1, everyone was "selling themselves out" on the defensive end of things, but that dedication hasn't been there the last two games...but I agree, Miller isn't the game saver he is portrayed as, most nights. I wouldn't mind seeing Enroth either. If only because the team seems to respond well to goalie changes. Laviolette has figured this out with his squad, but Lindy isn't as likely to give Miller as quick of a hook. If things continue the way they have, in game 4, I say, go with Enroth.
  4. You realize, after taking this anti-government funds stance, to appease the tea party, Perry has repeatedly asked for federal funds...I have nothing against asking for aid for something like devastating fires, but lets be honest about what is going on here, and many other Republican controled states...
  5. States that have the educational problems that Texas has really shouldn't be turing down help...
  6. What if Texas had seceded as Governor Perry had wanted? Education crisis doesn't warrant him getting money that's just sitting there from the federal government. Who needs the federal government? Texas certainly doesn't. Oh, but now Perry thinks it's fine to ask President Obama for federal assistance b/c an effective response to the wildfires are "beyond the capabilities of the state" which flies in the face of his "we-don't-need-federal-government!" argument. Another tough talker who isn't so tough... http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/04/18/us-texas-wildfires-idUSTRE73H3QL20110418
  7. Wow.... That is more dramatic than anything Hollywood could have produced...
  8. Good call...Willie Totten...he was the guy who threw passes to Jerry Rice, at Mississippi State...started one "scab" game for the Bills, in 1987, IIRC. I won't say it was Ralph Wilson, but from what I have gathered over the years, that Lou Saban did have a problem with black QB's. He wasn't keen on James Harris, I will defer to KRC for that kind of info. That attitude was more prevalent back in Sabans day... That said, I don't get the feeling that Buddy Nix, or Chan Gailey would be uncomfortable with Cam Newton, or any black QB playing for the Bills...I can't say I feel as confident about that when it comes to the fans. I don't think Bills fans are any more bigoted than other football fans, but I know there are Bills fans whose head would explode if they saw a black man playing for the Bills...unless they started winning.
  9. The Sabres dedication to defense was not so evident tonight, as it was, in game one. I am not a Miller apologist by any stretch, but this was clearly a game where he got very little help from his teammates. I would only characterize one of the goals he gave up as being "soft", or the result of poor play from him. I can't remember which one it was, but he went down a little prematurely, and the puck deflected off of Sekera, over Millers' shoulder...with his height, and his pads, I don't know why he goes down so quick sometimes. But, I really think he played alright, for the most part. That said, I am not going to let this game curb my enthusiasm for this team...they have flaws (we knew that), but I don't think the Flopers are heads and shoulders above the Sabres...I say Buffalo wins the next two, at home. Can't wait for Monday...love to smack Laviolet and Richards around a bit... Was a little surprised to see Gaustad go after Briere so hard, prior to his beatdown on Arnell... loved Briere as a Sabre, hurts to see him as a Floper...but watching him these first two games of the series, it is coming back to me...back in 2006, Roy and Briere were known for their diving. They both curbed it the next year, but it seems like Danny is finding his game again. They almost never make that call any more...but back then (2006, after the lockout) they were calling it quite a bit. Flopers had an abundance of PP's in Game 2, and some calls were pretty iffy...but the Sabres got a few gifts too...
  10. That is very sound logic...the title of your post says more about you than anything.
  11. Incredible ignorance, it seems, is prevalent in "Obama's America"...the video is pretty bad too. Looks like the president still has a lot to contend with...
  12. Not sure exactly why, but I think Trent Dilfer is my least favorite of the talking heads...I liked Kiper more, before McShay came on the scene...now, they are always together, and it seems like a schtick...they always have to disagree...but, I will be watching ESPN...my only choice, and it works for me, for the draft...
  13. To which they would reply: "Baseball? Minor league?"
  14. I don't think so, but, I was just impressed that they added a second screen..."Hockey Heaven" Just noticed, you got a gold frame for your birthday!
  15. I don't know, T-Pegs might not be the reason the Sabres turned it around (I personally think he is a big factor), but he certainly knows how to stroke the fans... http://wgr550.com/-Party-in-the-Plaza--To-Return/9607733 Party on the plaza returns, with an additional screen!
  16. Right? Now we just have hardcore fans, and "empathy fans": Them: "So, who is your team?" Us: "Bills" Them Us: "Buffalo Bills" Them: "Man, I used to love them back in the day...didn't they lose like 2 Super Bowls or somehting...I felt sorry for you guys...they look pretty good now, huh?" Me: "Yeah, they're great..."
  17. "Safe At Home" is a terrific record. Some say, it was the first real "country-rock" albums. Don't know if you ever heard the deluxe edition of the Byrds "Sweethearts Of the Rodeo". If you are a GP fan, it has about 5 ISB tracks that were previously unreleased ("Truck Drivin' Man" will be on the RSD release), and they are phenominal. Just amazing all the great music that gets lost in time...I am a bit of a music junkie, and I would say about 95% of the stuff I buy was released 20-40 years ago..but it is new to me...
  18. Been working at one of the best indie record stores in the country (Waterloo Records- Austin, TX), part time, for almost 11 years...our owner was one of the "creators" of the Record Store Day concept. It has really taken off...we are expecting a big turnout on Saturday. We have instores, that day, with Eric Johnson and the Toadies...
  19. It sounds like some of you need to get out of the house more...
  20. That does not sound right. While I have Time Warner (playoff games were on Center Ice last night, and Sabres/Flyers scheduled for tonight), all the Directv stuff is geared toward the Center Ice playoff coverage...don't want to start a war with Fezmid, but is it possible the person you were talking to just doesn't know what the hell they are talking about? My brother, in Atlanta, got playoff games on Center Ice, last season, via Directv. He canceled Directv, because he says their customer service blows, at least where he is.
  21. I hear what you are saying, but Merriman has had a multitude of injuries...sure, a lot of guys come back from injuries, while others just keep pull, break and strain things, until their career is done...Merriman is close to that point now. Like I said earlier, it would be awesome if he could return to his pre-suspension/pre-injury roll, form...but I think the Bills would be foolish to bank on it.
  22. I don't have Directv, but Time Warner...I was searching, trying to figure out which station to record...like you, I have to work as well. I came across this, from Directv...I hope it doesn't confuse matters, scroll down to todays date: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/sports/nhl_schedules
  23. Good place to start! Then just sit back and enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjKtF10ACOI&feature=player_embedded
  24. My brother and I used to build multiple snow men in the back yard, set them up in an defensive line formation, along with linebackers, and a few DB's to make it a maze...and then just pulverize the crap out of them, playing football in the snow...a few of them even had football helmets...I think we spent way more time building the snowmen than playing "football" but it was worth it...the good old days!
