  1. We really should be used to this now... what I hate, this team doesn't even piss me off anymore...they are what they are, and that ain't good. Will still watch every week... if this loss did anything for me, it helped me to decide not to bother wasting the time, and my one day off, driving to Houston to see them in a few weeks. I will sit at home and watch, rooting for them to win....but that is it.
  2. "He's dead Jim..err Simon"
  3. I agree, the whole "binders full of women" thing is really silly...the words...as if Romney somehow accidentally admitted to the world he was a serial killer. What is more puzzling about the "binders full of women" thing, is not those words on their own, but the question being answered when they came up. Romney made it sound as though he had never met a competent woman, and he and his staff had to dig for them... but it sounds as though he appointed a many women (as many, or more, than anyone in his position at the time) under political pressure from women's interest groups. But, that was back in his liberal leaning Republican days...they passed weeks ago! The "optimal" thing is stupid too. As much as you loathe Obama, I am sure, if you saw the complete interview, and were being fair minded, you would agree that much is being made about nothing here. I can't wait for the election to be over....whatever happens...we need to move beyond all this silliness... it is more depressing than anything. And, I will agree, Dems have been every bit as guilty throughout this campaign. It's all just juvenile.
  4. There is a Comic Con (or whatever you call them) here, in Austin...next weekend I believe. The entire cast of Next Generation will be on hand, as well as Darryl from "The Walking Dead"...and a bunch of other people I never heard of.
  5. Precisely why they need to be kissing Latin ass! It seems to be an issue that Jeb Bush has been having growing concern with.
  6. What kind of confounds me, as a lukewarm Fitz supporter (I always support our guy), Fitz actually looks worse (a lot worse IMO), this year than the last two. In seasons past, I always came away from a game thinking that he was "pretty good", despite the obvious long ball issues, but just needed to eliminate those 2 or 3 horrible throws he seemed to have each game...but this year, the horrible throws seem the norm, and the "pretty good" passes are too rare. I hate looking for excuses for a guy, but I really wonder if the new attention to his mechanics (I haven't seen any improvement have you?) just has him thinking too much. Maybe it all clicks later in the season, and he starts to play "decent" again, as he was before the contract extension. What I always liked about Fitz (as opposed to Edwards, Losman) was that he wasn't afraid to throw the ball... but I see a little less of that gutsyness now. There are times when he seems to chuck the ball, sensing pressure that really isn't there...the third down, overthrown pass, to Fred Jackson this past week (Fred was "wide the !@#$ open") typifies what I see from him too much. It is great to have a quick release, but he seems a little too quick as of late.
  7. You never know...every once in a while you get a true surprise. I was just reading something earlier where they are predicting that Texas (my state) could become a blue state by the time 2016 elections come along...many Republicans are nervous.
  8. Pretty funny stuff. Loved Obama's lind about Chris Matthews "Four years ago I was giving you that tingling feeling in your legs..two weeks ago I was giving you a stroke" Mitt was pretty damn funny too. Gloves back off today!
  9. Football: Buffalo Bills Hockey: Buffalo Sabres NBA: Boston Celtics Baseball: Montreal Expos Only the Celtics have ever given me the joy of pulling for a team, start to finish, and winning it all. As a Buffalo kid growing up in the 70's, I loved the Buffalo Braves, and loathed the Celtics. My older brother (9 years older than me) was a big Celtics fan, before there was a Buffalo Braves. We fought constantly (though, to his credit, my brother always rooted for the Braves too!)....when the Braves left for San Diego, I was crushed. As a kid, basketball was my favorite sport to play, so, conversely, the Braves/NBA was my favorite sport (though Bills were very close)...I tried for a season to be a Clippers fan, but in those days, it was almost impossible to follow a west-coast basketball team on the east coast. It was a perfect storm in 1980...the Braves were gone, my family got cable, Larry Bird was the new kid on the NBA block...the only NBA team you could follow regualarly was the Boston Celtics, so I sold my sould to the devil, and adopted the Celtics. My brother was happy! And, I had the pleasure of watching one of the greatest teams in basketball history, for about 4 years, win a couple of titles...it was exillerating. Some of the funnest days of my youth...long before the days of the internet, being the geek that I was, I used to key in on a different Celtics player every night, and keep my own "unofficial stats". You just couldn't find that stuff (up to date anyway) easily back then. It was awesome! I really loved the 2008 Celtics championship run too...but I have to say (and maybe this is an age thing) the thing that was so remarkable about that, was how little resonance it really had. I enjoyed the hell out of it...sitting in my living room in the middle of hot-ass Texas, watching KG and Company shock the Lakers! IIRC, it was a Tuesday or Wednesday night....by 11:30pm that night, after watching some post-game interviews, I was already in bed, worrying about waking up for work...next day, ESPN was already talking about next season, and who the team to beat was, blah, blah, blah... Believe me, I can think of few things that would get me as worked up as the Bills, or Sabres, winning a championship...but I always wonder, if it happnend if it would mean as much to me as winning one back in "the day" when everything seemed to have more meaning. btw- I don't really follow baseball much any more....if somebody held a gun to my head and made me pick a team, it would likely be the Yankees...for no other reason than the fact that most of my friends and family, who are baseball fans, pull for the Yanks. It is fun to see them win...but I don't live or die with them.
  10. That's cool...though it means I finally have to hook my tv up to my stereo!! FWIW- I thought the Brooklyn shows were moved to New Jersey? Am I wrong on this?
  11. As an Obama supporter, debate #2 kind of felt like the Bills/Cardinals game on Sunday...I know "we won", but it doesn't feel so great!
  12. Honest question...do you think Ryan Fitzpatrick will be a #1 starting QB in the NFL in 2.5 years? I have serious doubts...
  13. Sorry...read the first page, and didn't wade through the rest...thanks for your prompt response!
  14. Chan Gailey was the OC in KC, during the 2008 season, when Bowe had his "breakout" season (86 cathces for 1022 yrds, 7 tds)....the starting QB for the last 12 games of the season? Tyler Thigpen! Don't shoot the messenger...
  15. Ro to the Mo! As opposed to erractically awesome...so nothing counts?
  16. If they are smart enough to post here, they might not be irretriveably stupid... maybe just hopelessly stupid?
  17. I was wondering how long it would take...two replies!
  18. Today is my mom's birthday too! Our first birthday without her. Happy birthday to you Section122!
  19. So, every on-line "expert" is telling me I should start Cam Newton this week (vs Dallas) over Andy Dalton (vs Pittsburgh). Both guys play at home. Carolina is coming off of a bye-week. Bengals play Steelers on Sunday Night Football. NFL.COM (the forum my league uses) projects Cam to get 24 pts this week, vs 6 pts for Dalton. It seems like no contest...but when I look at the numbers, I am not so sure: In our leauge: Overall:Cam Newton has 91 pts so far this season (5 gms- 18 pt avg) vs Andy Dalton with 139 pts (6 gms-23 pt avg) Defensive rankings vs QB's: Dallas #6, Pittsburgh #14 Defensive rankings vs WR's: Dallas #1, Pittsburgh #14 Defensive rankings vs RB's (this could affect Cam): Dallas #19, Pittsburgh #13 Overall Defensive/ST Rankings: Dallas #31, Pittsburgh #6 Dallas, as a defense, obviously gives up a lot more fantasy points...but their problems seem to be more stopping the run than the pass...does this mean that Cam and Stewart/Williams combo try to run all over them? Experts are saying to start Cam... is he the clear cut choice here? Which would you start, Cam Newton or Andy Dalton? I am not as down on Newton as everyone else seems to be...but hard not to notice the numbers I have been leaving on the bench with Daton...I had to start him last week (Cam on bye) and he blew up! I am 4-2 so far, and having a pretty good year (ranked #4 of 12)...but I am aware that I have been getting very lucky. I have scored the 6th most points in my league, but have had the second fewest scored against me.
  20. Okay...I get the outrage here, but did any of you actually watch that whole exchange? If you actually listened to what she said, she scored a point for Romney" if anything... also, I took the "go tp ther transcript" comment to be directed at Romney, the guy who was stating information which wasn't comletely factual. It is a debate, afterall. Also, I know that Candy Crawley is fat, so that makes all the difference, but she is actually a pretty good reporter too. You don't think it is possible that, knowing she was moderating the debate, and knowing that this would likely be a big issue, she would do her due dilegence to know what was said? In the end, the debate may have invigorated Obama supporters, but I seriously doubt this one exchange (which actually went Romney's way) is going to detract from Romney's growing momentum.
  21. What is that they say...the best deals are the ones that don't get done?
  22. The Doaks storyline was the best they ever had on the show, IMO. I thought the first two episodes of this new season were pretty good...but then the third episode came along, and, in what has become typical "Dexter" fashion, all tension is eliminated from the show...no spoilers...but the writers just can't sustain any suspense.
  23. What is lost in the paranoia about that everyone has about the media, Crowley, immediately confirmed that it took the White House two weeks to get off the "video incited" the incident... it was right there...
  24. Seriously? Does she need a transcript to remember what he said?
