  1. What is in that "aritcle" that isn't pure conjecture by somebody who obviously doesn't like the president? Is the "news" here that he thought he won a debate that he didn't? That he doesn't particularly care for debates? It is basically an opinion piece. Big whoop!
  2. I will be forever grateful to Golisano for taking the Sabres when they were a mess, and steadying the ship. I like that he is (seemingly) committed to the WNY area. I must admit however, the idea of Terry Pegula excites me a little more. I know he has only thrown money at the Sabres so far, with little to show, but the fact that he seems like a big sports fan is appealing to me. And, all those billions don't hurt either!
  3. Everyone remembers where they were when George Seifert was spotted at the airport...
  4. I love the effort T Pegs is putting into the Sabres, but when this lockout ends, the Sabres may end up in bad shape from over-spending...
  5. FWIW, a "fantasy football" letter I get every day said that VY was scheduled to work out for Arizona this week, making no mention of the Bills.
  6. Ironically, the one guy on that list that Brady most compares to is Joe Montanna, who some will claim is the greatest QB of the modern era, and belongs on the short list of all-time greats. I am 47, and I recall the same "he isn't that good" arguments being made about Montanna in his 80's prime. The other guys on your list (except maybe Brees) were all, perhaps, more physically gifted in terms of arm strength, but few (other than Montanna) have gotten more out of their abilitlies than Montanna or Brady. I don't like him either, but this notion that he is not one of the all-time greats is just flat out silly. He has the stats, and the results... there is some creedence, IMO, to the notion that QB's in todays game have a rules edge over guys from the the pre-2000's... but then have to give Manning and Brees the same asterik.
  7. Reddog, the majority of Steve Johnsons' yardage, at this point (the one TD this past Sunday not withstanding, against a defense as bad as ours) are coming from 6 yard passes to the sideline (over or underthrown so there is no chance of any YAC), or 6 yard passes in the middle of the field, which Johnson can get some YAC. Johnson (and Graham for that matter) seem to always have their man beat, but have to adjust to Fitz' passes, to minimize what they can do after just making the catch. He did have a much better game this past week...it was more like Fitz of 2010-2011..you know, play decent, but with 2 or 3 passes where you just can't believe he threw that ball...first 6 weeks of this season, there were far, far too many of those type passes in each game. Fitz had an "ok" game against Arizona, but, the one play that just sticks out to me, was that awful 3rd and 6 where he had Freddie wide open, no pressure at all, and just threw it high and wide of Jackson...for no real reason. It was only one incomplete pass on the stat sheet, but it helped to make the end of that game far more interesting than it should have been. Good, not great, QB's don't miss that pass. I think the Bills should be more concerned about finding a guy who can make that pass, than finding another wild-cat toy for Gailey to play with..
  8. Honestly, I don't take this rumor (or is it merely speculation) seriously...but if for some reason it did come to fruition, I would seriously think of jumping ship on this team. I assume the move would be made because our HC wants Tebow... and I have nothing against Tebow (other than the fact that he isn't very good)... but how many friggin gadget players and wild-cat guys does he need to play with? Gailey's jacking around with the talent we have, IMO, already had 2/3rds of "Bills Nation" labeling CJ Spiller (likely the most valuable player on this roster at this point) as a bust and wasted pick. Gailey has too many things going on, to the point, where it seems like he can't even tell what is working and what is not half the time. As the rest of the league trends away from the wild-cat fad, the Bills seem to be, for whatever reason, embracing it...I don't hate it, but it really hasn't done a hell of a lot for the Bills.
  9. You know, I hate Jim Haslett...great player, big jerk...but at this point, I would rather see him on the sidelines every week than what we have been seeing... Unless there is a seismic shift in ownership, a Haslestt type guy might be the best we can do. We aren't going to attract a guy like Cowher or Gruden, so a younger re-tread, who has on numerous occaisions lobbied for a job in Buffalo, might not be a bad way to go. I am finally on board with this move... but word seems to be that Mr Wilson is not a Haslett fan.
  10. Right...at my current rate of pay, it would only take me about 18 years to pull in the filthy lucre! But, my fantasy football team is 5-2!!!!
  11. I am not dying over hockey just yet...but by around Thanksgiving I think I will be feeling it... I am not super high on this current Sabres team, but I do think they should be good enough to make the playoffs, and win a series or two...adding a couple of new tough guys is a step in the right direction...not going to help them score goals, however... my all-time favorite Sabre (not counting Bert) is probably Mike Foligno, so it was fun, late last season, to see his son Marcus light the lamp like he did. If he and Ennis are the real thing (they were awesome late in the season when Marcus showed up), and Vanek can figure out a way to be a little more consistent, goal-wise, throughout the season (short season would help him, perhaps!), they could be very good...
  12. That has been my phone policy for years!
  13. Well, as your candidate pointed out, correctly, our economy is an international issue too...which compromises our safety. Or, was he just being dramatic too?
  14. Okay...you know, I am never afraid to admit when I am wrong, but I am not there yet. Are you saying that Obama is lying when he says that the Navy is saying they don't need the money appropriated that Romney is suggesting? I am just asking...I am assuming you are saying that. It seems to me, Obama was very correct on this particualr issue, and the idignation that Republicans have expressed ("It wasn't very presidential!") realize that their candidate got smoked on this particular issue. If you are as dedicated to fixing the economy, why committ a few trilliion dollars to something that doesn't need it? http://www.huffingto..._n_2005201.html
  15. I wasn't aware you were asking me anything in post #268, just telling me I am wrong, and making stuff up. If I am wrong about the number we have, as opposed to the number being asked for, it doesn't really change the substance of the presidents' argument.
  16. Maybe condescending...but how was it wrong?
  17. I would say no and no...seriously, do you think that Reid would get fired, and want to tie himself to Michael Vick again?
  18. FWIW, before the wrist injury thing became a big public issue with Mario Williams, Charley Casserly (who drafted Williams with the Texans, if you recall) was critiquing his early season play on the NFLN, and said "it is obvious to me, there is something not right with Mario...one of the strengths of his game is his hand use, and arm strength...its' just not there so far this season". It was right around that time that Mario's rumored wrist injury started to make the rounds. I know this isn't the same thing (I don't think, we don't really know his injury)..but have you ever suffered from "carpal tunnel" in one of your arms or wrists? I have. About half the time you feel fine, and then, just out of nowhere, the pain can be pretty intense, and limit the range of things you can do with your arm. And then, it just disappears, until it flares up again. My carpal tends to affect my elbow, but some get it in their wrist...my girlfriend gets carpal flare ups in her wrist...when it flares up, simple things like holding a pen can be a challenge. Not trying to make excuses for Mario Williams, but I could imagine a wrist injury could affect your perfrormance quite a bit at his position. If, as Casserly says, a big part of Williams game is the use of his arms and hands, and one hand in unusable, or limited that might take a bit of his game away.
  19. I may be off here, but I seem to remember, from my youth, my dad (a police officer in Niagra Falls at the time) mentioning, more than once, that there had been some long-standing agreement between the US and Canada, that the US side of the falls would remain "naturalized", and would not be commercialized to the detrimnet of the natural beauty of the Falls. I guess the US lost the coin toss?
  20. My god...I am not as down on Mario as most of you seem to be (though I was a little skeptical about him when we signed him) but I almost posted, in another thread on Mario, that I would bet the house that he would be injured soon, and not finish the season...it was just a hunch... so much for our bookend stud pass-rushers! ...not to mention, some, douchey fans!
  21. Okay...fair enough. But the multitudes of military "experts" and talking heads on the right, quantifying Obamas' comment, with the weak argument that "the military does still use bayonets and horses" is just laughable. That "article" you posted was ridiculous. Hannity was commenting on it immediately after the debate, which leads me to believe he is either a complete idiot (a distinct possibility) or the substance of what Obama said was correct, and they realized how effective it was. Anyways...all this nonsense will be over in two weeks (hopefully)... now it is all just words that we are selectively hearing.
  22. He thinks he is worth that kind of money, because the Bills told him he was, to them.
  23. I have a rule that I won't read posts that have more that one emoticon....sorry OC!
  24. B-MAN, I almost never agree with you on anything...but I am surprised at how silly this is. The point that Obama was making during the "bayonets" comment was absolutely true...he never said "we don't use bayonets anymore"...he said we don't use as many bayonets and horses as we did in 1916...his point, which was relevant (and seems to be missed by many) as it applied to Romney's contention that we only have 284 battleships now, as opposed to the 315 we had a century ago... the presidents point wasn't that the nature of battle has changed from the times that Romney was referring to, so you wouldn't need as many ships. This is such a non-issue...and your side is trying to make it into some sort of pathetic Obama "zinger".... his point was right. Shouldn't you be more troubled by your candidates commitment toward pouring more money on something that doesn't need it...just to show how strong the is? Maybe Romney's business acumen isn't all that?
  25. My point was, when Wanny was on the sidelines as the headcoach of the Dolphins, he was not an "in your face" kind of coach..it just isn't his style.
