Joe B (The Athletic) on passing game problems (with data)
JohnnyBuffalo replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe all this type of attention will work…heck they finally featured Cook after they got berated coming and going last two weeks and look how that paid off! Go Bills! -
He’s getting decent protection. His receivers are making plays. Those two things help make a NFL QB look really good. The minute the protection fails on a consistent basis, like it has with Buffalo recently, your QB can look less than. See also the Super Bowl that ended a perfect season run. Made that cheating QB look less than and some claim that cheating QB is the best to play the game. Go Bills!

The kid is good. It’s nuts to boil success down to a single player with the most team dependent sport there is. Bills’ fans, more than any other fanbase, should know this to be true. The concern I have is that he’s getting higher quality decision makers putting pieces in place to give him success that won’t be his success alone but will be the team’s success and yet will be bestowed upon him. Feel like we have been here before.

OCTOBER 19: Around the NFL, Week 7
JohnnyBuffalo replied to Ridgewaycynic2013's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hear you. I’m right there with Sunday Ticket since 2000. But I’ll say this and I hope you agree. I’d rather watch the NFL and the questionable quality than have to sit through any of the reality TV stuff that clogs the channels when football isn’t on! and I did find the Bronco/Giants back and forth entertaining to an extent. You gotta feel for that back up fella. He seemed morose when they showed him. I bet he wanted to take an Uber and catch a commercial flight home away from the team. -

You ok man? Bills didn’t even play today and you seem fired up. Hang in bro. I have been there. I try to remind myself that things like football, college or NFL, are a privilege and we are lucky to have it so readily available. Go Bills! -

Bryce young got hurt? Just saw him walk off…what happened -
We may need a 3 up 3 down Bye Week update because right now the available information on Brady’s response to criticism on cute plays and Cook would be him taking 1. Down 2. Down 3.Down! I don’t have any ups because I haven’t heard a darn thing making me feel like an upswing in results is on our way.

Was DaQuan Jones injured in pregame Warm up?
JohnnyBuffalo replied to Coldfronts's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is devolving into an old man odd injury post but I have definitely gotten injured in simple non-contact movements. I subscribe to the concept for the professional that their injury is a timer that’s going to go off regardless and that it was not preventable. You add so much muscle and weight and contact to joints and soft tissue not meant to withstand it and it’s just a matter of time. Also I am an old man so no offense was intended. -
Can everyone just take a freakin breath?
JohnnyBuffalo replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sounds like you are and have been dialed in. So, and this is a very sincere ask, who’s the duo you want to replace them that can do what we all want them to do? I have to be honest I don’t know who that would be in the slightest. -
That at least kept the ball in your best players hands but yes exactly. These idiotic sideways handoffs that they can’t complete to some of your lesser talented skill players takes the cake though. How! How! How! Is James Cook not on the field for EVERY short yardage play. I mean if there is a guy that might break it off into long yardage isn’t he one of them? I mean the dumb flip toss Josh did last night wasn’t even to Cook….talk about adding stupidity to a moronic situation. Ok I think that might have been my 10th post about this and I am starting to annoy myself with it. Be well Bills Mafia and enjoy the bye. GO BILLS when we get back!

Yeah I liked everybody eats when they would work what’s working until it slowed down and then they’d feed someone else for a minute. Last week before their first lost I read Brady said he knew they needed to get Ray Davis more involved…I immediately had concerns that they’d force it even though James Cook had been on fire. Absolutely maddening philosophy being forced instead of being organic.

Offense and offense!
-
One of the most glaring and concerning topics that has been brought up that is completely self inflicted is the decision making of coaching staff on offense to take James Cook off the field and run plays that are not bread and butter short yardage plays. Now this problem has been on display, at a minimum, THREE times with colossal failures. You’d think a highly paid and regarded OC wouldn’t need more than one time to realize that should be eliminated from the play book. But nope they went back to it 2 more times. Why I say that’s one of the most glaring is that it shows a complete lack of self awareness and self regulation of your decision makers. This then makes all other adjustment needs questionable…can they recognize the need. Are they able to be self critical? The defense never quit yesterday and they had some back up guys come in and play hard. The offense did not have that. Worse it looked like Josh had had enough. The blue print to fluster him appears to have been written. Do they have the brains to adjust to make sure it’s not printed in ink?

Again I agree to a point here. Brady’s choice to not continue to feature Cook and those absolutely horrendous sideways play calls on short yardage got to have it is unforgivable. -

Agree to a point. But the offense had plenty of time and opportunities to just do what they are expected to do any bad decisions by Brady and Josh cost them the game. -

Last week I was ticked off at the Bills for not being ready to play at home. This week is just demoralizing and makes me dread the other prime time games this team has slated against better opponents. -
