Have you ever quit following a sports team?
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in Off the Wall
my buddy went to Xavier and is a die hard Xavier guy. He’s totally fed up too. I really can’t believe Miller left them again. Plus, to go a school where bball is second fiddle. Really pathetic. -
Syracuse Basketball 2024-2025

Agreed. One of my favorite things was watching the younger guys develop over a few years. No chance for that anymore. -

Looking like Elijah Moore, Chris Bell, and Kyle Cuffe all are transferring. Surprised about Moore. -
Nice try, Beane. Another fake name. Going to have to do better than that.

it’s been a while since I listened to him. But as I recall, those guys are on for smaller segments in the shows? I do think there is a real benefit to the podcast duo. Just about every great podcast has that, even if the second person doesn’t say a lot. Helps to facilitate the conversation in a more natural and less scripted way. it’s one of the reasons I tend to listen to Cover One more (though Cover One has its flaws too).

I wish he had a co-host. Need some more back and forth in that podcast.

McNeese State. Big win today. Not sure they can beat Purdue, but hopefully will give them a game.

You make a great point. Free agency is largely designed for the lower tier players and for teams to fill out their rosters with those guys. I think teams can strike gold on certain types of players— mostly, the aging vet that might have a good year left (Henry), or the rough or underused prospect that has never been given much playing time. But otherwise, what’s the difference between Sherfield and Harty?

Best Sports Days/Weekends of the Year?
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to BillsPride12's topic in Off the Wall
All of yours are great choices. For me, I would rank my top 5 as: 1) Opening weekend of NFL 2) Opening round of March Madness 3) AFC/NFC Championship weekend 4) Thanksgiving Day football 5) Sunday at the Masters -
I think he might have a different definition of “making plays in the playoffs” than the rest of us.

Cleveland Browns building a new dome stadium
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
That is a pretty interesting stat. i guess my view is we have a QB in his prime that is absolutely deadly in indoor stadiums. So let’s build him one! -
Cleveland Browns building a new dome stadium

this is awesome. they are paying $2.4 B for this and we are paying $2.1 B for our roofless stadium! Just nuts. -
thanks for the heads up!!

I am going to check this out. I have been reading with one of my kids these “wicked history” books, which seem similar. Short bios on infamous people in history. We just did Robespierre and Julius Caesar. They are really great (for kids and and adults too).

Interesting Eric Moulds stat
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sort of funny, but there was a time when the knock on Moulds was that he only played great in even-numbered years. His best years were 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2004. 😀 -
I will throw out some that I have really liked. I try to avoid the long meandering podcasts, and mostly look for ones that have episodes that are 40 minutes or less. 1) True Crime. Chameleon (Hollywood Con Queen); Betrayal; first season of Serial. 2) Sports/Fitness. Cover One (mostly just like their pre-game show); Golf IQ; Muscle for Life; Zoe Science and Nutrition (FYI, you have to listen to these with a great of salt, since everyone has their own philosophy when it comes to fitness and nutrition). 3) History. The Rest is History. 4) Pop stuff. Is a hot dog a sandwich?; Economics of every day life.

I am always looking to hear what podcasts people listen to, and whether they have any good recommendations. I have pretty varied tastes (true crime, history, golf, fitness and nutrition, religion, food, Bills). I can throw out a few I recommend in a bit, but any good ones that people are listening to?

I heard something on a podcast the other day that there are more people in the USA with Irish DNA than in Ireland!
