Miyagi-Do Karate replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it is just a product of our success. You see a lot of the good teams every year playing back to back prime time games against top tier opponents. That’s what NFL fans want to see. -
Well, looks like he went out there to die. pretty amazing all of the people reporting sightings of Laundrie recently. It seems like many of them were fully convinced it was him.

I have never seen anyone can blown up off a sneak that bad ever. Even if Dawkins holds his ground a little, then Allen might have a chance. -
Normally, I like standing pat. But I do think they should look for an upgrade at guard. I wonder if the Texans have anyone good they would move as part of their fire sale.

Case Keenum to start for Browns on TNF

i was thinking of doing the same. Between Winston and Keenum, and I am on the fence. -
Case Keenum to start for Browns on TNF

Keenum has to be a top-5 backup. I think he will manage and do as well as Baker would do. But if the browns can’t run, they are done regardless of who the QB is. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Humbled at the Goal Line
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
1) it would be interesting to hear Vrabel talk about his influences. But I have heard him talk of his formative early years with the Steelers under Jim Hazlett. And He has Hazlett on his staff, and his defense looks similar to the Hazlett-coached And LeBeau-coached defenses of the Steelers. 2) I may have misunderstood the OP re whether Vrabel is from the Bellichick tree. I will note that I don’t believe he ever coached under Bellichick. -
I like him, but the big knock on him out of college is that he doesn’t have enough vowels.

What are your thoughts on Ed Oliver?

It is pretty rare to not pick up the 5th year. There Has to be some major red flag. -
What happened to our red zone O?
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Statistically, what is a good red zone offense? Right now, we have the most trips in the league, scored 100% of the time, but have about a 58% TD rate. by comparison, TB is in the low 60%’s and KC is around 70%. what is a very good/elite conversion rate? -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Humbled at the Goal Line

I will just say this about Vrabel— i think it be totally unfair to say he came from the Bellichick coaching tree. He didn’t. in fact, My theory is that his style of coaching is more of a product of playing for the Steelers than anything else. Play hard physical 3-4 defense; and run the ball. He even cycles through assistants and players in the same way as the Steelers do— just fit new guys into your general Framework and keep going. -
penalties on kick returns - out of control
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. its becoming unwatchable. -
Would be risky, but I think we had time to use a TO and score. The reality is you get the first down, and then can call your last TO if needed, and then you have probably 2 passes to the endzone to try to score.
-
Hindsight is 20/20— but using a timeout there would have really been wise. Settle everything down; get into the right play call.
-
I am the first guy to blame the refs usually— but that was literally a perfect spot.

Why couldn’t Tre shadow AJ? Instead, Tre was crashing the run. Sort of odd. -
What is up with Bass and no run up to kick off?
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
I actually also thought they wanted to cover more for the physicality of it— set the tone and blow them up. I think they did pretty well overall. But i am of the “don’t tempt fate” camp. -
he was trying for the kill Shot. We could have dunked and dunked it for a FG instead.
-
I think it was intentional. Felt better about covering than a touchback.

So my hot take is that we outcoached and outplayed them. The game was just decided on a few plays where we were out-executed— Specifically, the QB sneak and the long Henry run. we have up that long Henry run (where 3 guys were held)— but without that, we hold Henry to 75 yards and Tanny to 215 yards? That’s pretty good. And on O we got whatever we wanted. would have liked a better play call at the end, and a TD conversion on at least one of the FG’s. But you aren’t going to be 100% in the red zone. -

would have loved to see a RPO there. Score a TD.
