  1. All good points PG...I just don't view Willis as in the league of the top tier of backs--I am not just talking Johnson, Alexander and Tomlinson but also Barber (not that it matters); Parker; Westbrook; Gore; Stephen Jackson maybe even Joseph Addai ...I think Willis is replaceable and we have the best of both worlds -- we can keep Willis and train a replacement concurrently... Your point about not using a first day pick is pretty insightful--not everyone on the list is a first day pick...and I don't like using first day picks on a position where the shelf life is not very long...
  2. There is something to be said for owning a town and staying put...oh well...
  3. Nice Lincoln Leap at the end by Jon as well. Great to see him do well..
  4. 1. Keep Him...trade value is non-existent 2. Do not extend him. He can't hold out--his agent thankfully is smarter than that...backs who had average years don't hold out 3. Draft a back in the first three rounds 4. Sign A-Train for 2 years at just above the vet min. 5. Bye bye Shaud Williams Any questions? I'll be the first to predict that Willis, barring injury, has a 1200+ yard year next year and then bids us adieu...he wants out of Buffalo so bad it will be a huge motivating factor...
  5. 5 years, $24 Million..... If the trend continues he will end up coaching at Rutgers, West Virginia or Syracuse in 3 years....
  6. Al Davis will still consider him in the 5th round...Millen has him penciled in the 6th Prayers to Daddy Joe and family ---sounds like a few people have fallen off that cliff -- I know the winds have been strong in that area of SoCal the last few days as well...just tragic stuff...
  7. "Don't mess with me you Italian Contractor in New Jersey who could probably put me in concrete shoes at the bottom of the Hudson, I can take out a camera guy"..... Vincent Shenocca's God given surname is actually Cornuto....
  8. and that those three or four plays are usually game changing plays...ironic isn't it? BTW--I hope Assante Samuel keeps having a great playoffs---he has held Coles pretty much in check today and then just gets the pick and a TD...it would be nice for there to be another option for teams looking for a lock down corner--might hold Nate's price down just a smidgen...
  9. Check downs like the one Brady just made on third and goal are in our future. JP has all the physical talent in the world and this year he came miles in the mental area...the next step is when recognition like the ones Brady just made become second nature..that will happen with another off-season of being a film room rat and working with Thomas, McGahee, Royal, Cieslak, Everett, Evans, Parish, Price and Reed.... Fairchild will take the check down governor off JP next year--its going to be even more fun...
  10. Hogboy?? Is that you???
  11. DCM -- I have gained a new respect for your owner...he handled this whole situation with a class and grace that showed selflessness and very little ego. He could have gotten into a bidding war or pulled legal BS--but instead he showed a lot of class... Saban on the other hand is not worthy the proud history of your team...Sexton started to negotiate this deal before Mike Shula's body was cold..and your ingrate ex-coach lied through his teeth to his players, his owner, his assistants and his staff for 6 weeks culminating in today's announcement. These things don't just happen..they take time to put together....Its sad that he authorized his agent to have these conversations right when his team was turning their season around. I hope Saban meets Larry Czonka in a dark alley some day and Larry kicks the little midget's ass for spitting on the Dolphins. This will be the only time I show a hated rival some concern--but you guys got !@#$ed by the coaching flim flam man..
  12. Don't laugh yet...if Mularkey ends up being the new Head fish--then we can laugh...if its Cowher--we may not want to laugh...let's see how this thing plays out...
  13. We would have been all over the drunken, pond-falling, wife arguing story like a cheap suit on this board....I smell a little white lie on Greggo's part. The pond thing reminds me of Caddyshack--Gregg's neighbor probably said -- we've got a pool and a pond--Pond would be good for you... Difference between Gregg and Coach Jauron-- Gregg tries to yell and embarass you into being a man. DJ just expects you to be a man, assumes you are and treats you like one. Under Gregg we were one of the most undisciplined teams in the league as evidenced by penalties and mental mistakes (even with the laps). This year we set the franchise record for fewest penalties...who's system works?
  14. Whitner had a very nice hit on Heap yesterday that caused a dropped ball on sure completion--it was a smack in the back that was clean and very well timed...It was not like Ed Reed's hits on Roscoe (3 jacks) but the difference is Roscoe held on to all 3...tough little bastard. I was actually impressed with Donte yesterday. Heap had 5 for 60 but a lot of that 60 came on a couple of McNair roll outs that Donte was caught in no man's land--allowing McNair to run or staying with Heap. The longest Heap catch came on a safety blitz where McNair audibled a hot read to Heap...it was a great call... Out of the 5 catches--Donte got totally schooled on one and semischooled on another..I am okay with that against an all pro... Forgot to add that Heap was option #1 on about 4 plays in the Red Zone yesterday....did Heap have any touchdowns---hmmm let's see -- he had two thrown to's (including the wide receiver pass) and 0 touchdowns...Whitner had him one on one on 3 of the 4 plays--help from, Believe it or not, Spikes on the other... (Who by the way had a really good game yestereday).. Donte may not be all-world this year--but he accounted himself well in my eyes yesterday...most of the crucial plays happened right in front of us...
  15. Bill and General Lee--all good thoughts. I would expect Sullivan and the other beat writers to address this topic and the Bills potential spending early in the off-season. One thought though, Denney's deal was done after the March 8 CBA was reached last year. I don't think its unreasonable to believe that the yearly average numbers roughly work for Kelsay--around $2.5 Million-3 Million--but maybe the deal is longer -- for 5 years instead of 4. Remember that Denney served a mission in college and is a couple of years older than his class. Denney is more versatile (Plays a little DT in rush situations)--while Kelsay probably has the better rush. I think Marv can get this one done early in the offseason--Kelsay sounds like he has "roots" in Buffalo--home, wife and child--etc. There is a uniqueness to WNY when you compare it to the mega-cities in the NFL--its sellable--almost small townish..
  16. We'll stop the run with numbers....yeah right Greggo--too bad you aren't allowed to play more than 11...
  17. Congrats Tiger and Elin...genes of a gorgeous model mom and maybe the best golfer in the history of the game as a Dad....pretty strong pool for this kid...Nike announced for the first time they have signed a fetus to an endorsement contract
  18. Guess they gave him just enough rope to hang himself....a fitting end to a genocidal maniac I think he ends up in Denver
  19. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2710691 Just food for thought when Danny, Grandpa NASCAR and Greggo come calling.....
  20. The only list that matters to me---the AFC East standings in 2007 at the end of the regular season...I think we have a shot to be at the top of that one....
  21. JP is such a cocky little, me-first bastard....damn him, damn him... (for the sarcastically impaired) I am not ready to annoint JP to star status just yet...but I am really, really glad we have him. Look at everything he has proven... 1) He can calm down 2) He can read NFL defenses 3) He can be insanely accurate 4) He can throw deep against the wind in the Ralph 5) He can deftly avoid the rush and make plays with his feet 6) He can look off receivers 7) He can manage a long drive 8) He can check down 9) He can get rid of the ball quick and effectively use the dump off 10) He can perform in the clutch All these were question marks at the beginning of the year....that's what I call a year of progress... Sans 8 games from Bledsoe in 2003 and Flutie when they let him play we haven't had consistent quarterbacking like this in a decade...I couldn't be more pleased... It will be a pleasure to watch him live against the AFC's best defense this week. I think he is looking foward to the challenge...
  22. Wow...without passing judgement on Bill going public (not sure how I feel about that) -- doesn't reflect well on Richardson --Bill was their founding play by play guy right?
  23. Cowher's house is in Raleigh...same rumor about him and the NC State job (His alma mater) when it opened... http://www.newsobserver.com/122/story/412472.html
  24. KOK what was the whole story with firing Rosinski from the radio play by play role--he is really good. I have listened to him some this year on the Westwood One NFL Game of the week with Dan Reeves--really excellent stuff.
